Offical American Idol Discussion Thread

Did any John Stevens fans see him sing on "Regis and Kelly" this morning?

He did great! I'm so glad he did that song..."King of the Road". Then his duet with Regis...getting to sit in Dean Martin's chair.

It was great!::yes::

good for john. He's already off to a good start!. :goodvibes

I don't know why I thought of this, but I would love to hear John sing "Shes Always A Woman" by Billy Joel. I think that song would just be perfect for his style/voice. Anyone agree?

Um, didn't he sing that? Maybe that's why you thought of it!

Oops -- Sorry, I must have missed it if he did. Do you remember what night it was? I know they didn't do a Billy Joel theme night but I wish they would.

I think is was the first night the final 12 competed.

He did and the judges didn't care for it. I believe Randy said he was about to go sleep during it.

My friend gave me the AI3 CD to listen to. Wow, is that painful. Glad I didn't spend the money to buy one. The only song I sort of liked was Jennifer's and I did like the group song "Ain't no mountain high enough." I'm not sure if it is the singers or the arrangements. But I thought it was horrible.

I listened to the CD from the link posted on this thread, and I was not impressed either. I liked the group song, but not much else. Too bad. I have the CD's from seasons one and two as well, I love the Season 1 CD, but I am not overly fond of the season 2 disc either.

Actually he sang that song in his group of 8, before the top 12 started.

He did a great job with that song and that's one of my favorite performances from him! I would probably rate it second to "King of the Road."

So did anyone watch American Idol tonight? I have classes Monday nights and didn't come home until 8:45. I don't really care that much anymore so I didn't bother recording it. One thing I did notice, was that Diana was wearing something again that didn't flatter her. And of course the way she was with the audience bothered me. I also got to see Latoya. I hope she's the one that wins, she probably deserves it most out of all that are left.

I noticed the belly flopping as well.:p

La Toya seems to be so different from the others as to where she is in her life.

I thought George got a raw deal tonight. Surely there is more to talk to him about than just talking about Jennifer Hudson.

I got the AI3 cd. It wasn't that painful to listen to, but it was painful to listen to John. He sang the song "Everything." I think he is a broadway material and just not fit for AI. I definitely like AI2 cd better.

Jasmine did a great job singing "Inseperable" tonite. Too bad that was not on the cd.

Considering I don't care for Leah, she did great on the cd. She sang "Betcha by golly wow." Matt did real good too. Amy did a nice job singing "You Make Me Feel Brand New."

No spoilers, just a bump and a thumbs up for all the contestants tonight. Awesome show!

My thoughts on tonight.

Diana - She was a little weak and pitchy during her first song. In her second song she was a bit less pitchy, but she was still shaky. Unfortunately I sort of disagreed with Randy and Paula, I don't think Diana is that good. And unlike what Simon said, she did NOT sound fifty!

George - Cheek to Cheek: great song, and even though some of the first notes were a bit sharp, he did a really good job with it. With Louis's song, it was a relief that he didn't butcher it, I would have screamed if he butchered Louis! I think he sounded much better than Diana. I love that boy's smile! The audience really needs to just let Simon talk, it's so obnoxious of them to boo over him, whether they agree or not.

LaToya - As usual, LaToya was fantastic!! She held out that last note wonderfully. She's beautiful, classy, and talented; I will be upset if she doesn't win this. Amen to the judges' comments!

Jasmine - She's definitely more on pitch than she was last week. She sounded pretty darn good tonight. I disagreed when Simon said she's been consistent; she went from good to bad, and back to good.

Fantasia - Of course they just had to have her go last, they want her to make the "lasting impression," I guess. Her voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me, I can't stand it, it bothered me especially tonight for some reason. Her second song was okay I guess. What is Randy talking about "tone"? Her tone stinks (IMO)!

All in all, I am voting for LaToya. ::yes::

I thought they were all much better and all good tonight.

I think Jasmine's performance was the weakest--and LaToya's the strongest.

Fantastia has a powerful voice--but I agree with Musical Saranader above--her tone/voice is grating. I don't think she is in a league above any of them--but different from them.

I wonder who will get all the votes John Stevens was getting

Kick Jasmine and George and Diana off right NOW, because it looks like it will be between Latoya and Fantasia thanks to Simon's and Randy.

I didn't even watch tonight. I'll watch again when it gets down to the final just La Toya and Fantasia.

Alright here's my take, Standing ovation to Latoya. Wonderful job as usual. This is her genre. She sounded so good doing big band! Now George & Fantasia did very good also. My #1 pick is Latoya. I like Jasmine more than Diana. It's something about Diana that I just can't put my finger on. Jasmine is such a doll!!
Also what was up with Diana's outfit. Didn't care for it one bit. She looked sloppy..
