Offical American Idol Discussion Thread

Do we know who the guest judge is tonight? Wouldn't that just be awesome if it was Elton John himself?? I remember last year they did Billy Joel songs one week and I was upset that Mr. Joel wasn't there himself.

My choices

John S -- Blue Eyes
JPL -- Crocodile Rock
Jennifer -- Philadelphia Freedom
Camile--Sorry seems to be the hardest word
Jasmine -- Daniel
Fantasia--Don't let the sun go down on me
Diana--Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
La Toya--Someone saved my life toight
George--Levon

All I can say is thank God George sang tonight...I thought this night was going to be a big waste!!

YAY for George!!!

OK Latoya was good, I just don't get the George thing, I mean he's OK but not the Idol.

Camille-no good, Still think Jasmine was the best tonight.

I'm a voter who votes for who is the best that night, not a favorite type voter. It's been someone different every week.

Never voted for any of the guys, Camille or Jennifer.

Jennifer just started singing and she is already hopelessly ANNOYING---now after saying that her voice is TREMENDOUS tonight. I have learned my lesson--I need to listen to her with my back to the TV--it's the only way I can get through it!

OK, Jennifer justed knocked our socks off, she'll get my vote tonight, Jasmine second.

Just don't think Jennifer will win it.

I learned tonight what a great singer Elton John is. I've never cared much for him, but after hearing the contestants massacre the songs, I've come to see what a skillful singer he is. His songs really are hard to sing.

I think Geroge and Jennifer were only two to stay in tune till the end. George also I think benefited from singing a less known song. Do you think Jennifer even had to rehearse? I would think she could sing that even in her sleep.;)

I cant believe I am going to say this but Jennifer did great.....except for the first few notes. I was thinking oh no she is ruining this song then she pulled it off!

I have to agree....next week I just don't look at her
I liked Jasmine tonight too!!

I thought John Peter and Camille were horrible!!

According to the idolonfox.com website Elton John songs are this week, not Big Band.

Sorry, now that I look like a total idiot, I missed the ending of the one post about idolonfox.com and EJ.

I was still stuck on Barry Manilow songs. :hyper:

Anyway, it's a shame about John Stevens. I thought he was trying hard to break out of the box and act younger. I didn't think it was that bad, just different. I thought Jennifer was great but agree that she probably can't win. After last week's voting though, you can't count on anything!

Jennifer Hudson wowed the audience! It took her roots in Disney to do the trick, but she pulled it off with "The Circle of Life"!

George Huff and LaToya were okay--the rest. . .P-U! The vocals were all off-key, out of tune, just icky (so much for my musical acumen) ;) .

Hmmm--who will go? I say it should be Camile, but she escapes every week! My guess would be John S., Camile, and Jon Peter in the bottom 3--then again, with the way the votes have gone in this series--Jennifer will probably get the boot! :earseek:

I just wish I could find one of these kids that I really, really liked as I did in the first two AIs. No one sends me over the top though.

The feeling started last week, and it was confirmed this week - this year's AI should definitely, positively, absolutely - be

Thats for sure ::yes:: I won't even try to pick the bottom 3

Intellect would tell us that Camile, John S, and JPL would round out the bottom three, but I think that JS is going to get alot of votes just because he got out there and did something way different - he took the risk, and he's still cute as a bug's ear.

But I'll say it again - George is my guy - he took that song and just rocked the house.:Pinkbounc

I totally agree, but I started thinking it earlier than that!!!! I love George.

LaToya can sing, but she is kinda dull. Jennifer was great tonight, but I bet she has sang that song a million times LOL.

Now, Camillie, JPL and John all stunk so bad tonight!!!!!!!!! They should all have been in the bottom 3 pretty much every week, and yet they don't get there. Camille was so hard to even watch tonight, poor girl.

I wonder what other kind of great talent the judges left behind when they picked the final 32. George should count his lucky stars every day that somebody got booted and he got their spot!!!

Jennifer Hudson's performance was lifted directly (I mean the arrangement, the hand movements, the finale...everything) from a Royal Caribbean (which she worked for) production show. DW and I saw that very show on the Brilliance of the Seas in January. Not that I think she did a bad job, but I think its funny that the judges are always saying things about a cruise ship performance, but tonight they were wowed by a cruise ship performer doing a cruise ship arrangement.

I thought She worked for Disney Cruise lines?????

JENNIFER Hudson that is>????

Demosthenes Why would they do Disney on Other cruise Ships???

Okay, I missed tonight's show because I was at a friend's house.
Can someone tell me what everyone sang and describe how each generally did in one word? Thanks!
