Offical American Idol Discussion Thread

I agree with everyone's posts.

My DH laughs at me because I watch American Idol. He sat there last night amazed at the bottom 3 - I found out one thing last night - DH is hooked too.

Hopefully there will be no more bad choices like last night.

Amy should have lasted much longer. LaToya should have never been there.

I just don't get it?????

I watch AI for comic relief mostly. It's fun listening to Simon. Granted he can be cruel but he's truthful. I found that Randy was being more blunt Tuesday night than normal. I think that they were very disappointed in most of their performances.

I am sad that Amy is gone. I have liked her from the beginning. I like her attitude and the way she lets Simon's comments roll off her. I hope that she gets that singing career.

Did you notice that Simon's comment about the three that were there was something like this is the way America voted instead commenting whether or not he agreed?

John S. needs to go, I don't find his performances entertaining at all. I was expecting Camille to be in the bottom 3 last night too. I like her, but I agree... she is just petrified with stage fright. she has a lot of potential. I am rooting for Jasmine, George and Diana. I think Diana has had consistently solid performances. And I was sad to see Amy go.

I think John s. gets a lot of votes b/c of his high school, i heard something like that... and knowing how teens get hooked on this show as well i bet they're all voting for him multiple times during those 2 hours. But he's gotta go!

You know, personally, I think it doesn't even matter if you win or lose, because half of the contestants end up recording their own albums or doing some other form of entertainment. Does anybody else see it this way?

The voting is not rigged and if your favorite is in the bottom 3 you should just go and vote for them!

The fact is that everyone assumed Latoya was safe because she did so good and the judges love her, so they spent time voting on their other favorites to keep them safe. It doesn't really help when you split your votes among a few people, they pretty much just cancel each other out. It's usually better to just pick one favorite and vote for them, and that's why John Stevens and JPL are usually safe, because they have devoted fans.

I think LaToya was in the bottom 3 because people didn't recognize her. It took me a moment when she came out last night--because I was trying to figure out who the heck she was. I think she will still be there for awhile. As for Jennifer----I CAN'T STAND TO WATCH HER SING!!! She sounded good, but watching her is like watching someone get poked in the rear with a cattle prod. Her eyes get really wide and freaky looking. She is WAY to dramatic and disturbing.

I love John STevens----but STINKERAMA the last 2 performances!!!! It's almost like he's thinking, "Good Gosh, What does a guy have to do to get kicked off"

AND THOSE ARE MY TWO CENTS!!

The top ten idols will go on the idol tour. So other than for pride's sake, whether you finish 4th or 10th, it doesn't really matter.

If you look at the poll on another thread, more people would buy John Steven's album than anyone else. Glad to see I'm not the only one who likes him.

Yes, I was one who voted that I would buy John Steven's album. The reason is that I love the style of music he sings and I love how he sounds when he sings it. No one else in this year's top ten really makes me want to buy their album. I mean, I think some of them are OK, but I wouldn't buy their albums.

I'm with you 100%!!!!

I love that old music; Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra. I also love Harry Connick Jr. I own CDs from all three of them.

If John S were to make a CD of that kind of music I'd buy it in a heartbeat. There is no one else I feel that way about on AI.

I also felt that way about Kelly and Clay and own their CDs too. I like nice, unique voices. To me La Toya and George and even Jasmine's voices are nice but nothing special. That is how I felt about Ruben too; he was alright but nothing special or unique.

Fantasia and Jennifer annoy me to no end!!!!

I'm hoping that maybe Jasmine will suddenly break out like Kelly did and blow everyone away?? We'll see.

I'm with you on both of them. Jennifer is frightening--and Fantasia,..... well I just don't understand when the phrase "something to talk about" became "shompen to talk about"

that's what Fantasia sang! "shompen to talk about"!! I knew there was something about her enunciation that was peculiar!

Only the Top Ten will tour? So Matt won't get to tour? I wonder if they will add him if they feel they need at least 4 guys?

I'm one of those idiots who forgets to vote - I was always getting a busy signal - so I just figured I'd call later - then forgot!

I wish there was a website that shows the breakdown of the votes. It would be interesting to see the standings every week. I'd love to know who is getting the most votes every week.

I have heard that next week is Big Band week. Not confirmed yet though.

"Big Band"...What is that? Can someone explain that to me?

LOL!!! I agree with you 100% about Jennifer!! I like Jasmine and La Toya and would be happy if either of them win!

Next week is definitely big band. That would be songs from the swing era: Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, Ella Fitzgerald, Patti Page, Dinah Shore, the Andrew Sisters, etc.

I love big band, but it's going to be rough, since that was my Dad's favorite type of music. :(

Wish they would have done big band last year. Clay would have been EXCELLENT. (Barry Manilow, Jr. as my DH likes to call him.)
