***October 2012 Thread*** MNSSHP + Food & Wine - Does It Get Any Better?

Have you ever been to the south?

Because, as you may have heard, it's the humidity, not the heat, that's a killer.

Be prepared to walk around feeling sticky all day long.

Yeah we get the humidity here too. Just last summer we had a week where it was like 30 or 32+celcius but the humidity made it 40+celcius. (104F) I hate when we have heat waves. I prefer 20-25+. (68-77F)

I do hear that it's usually hotter than that though.

We will have lot's of water, hats and those little hand held fans.

I did a little hat research yesterday because I also burn pretty easily. I never tan though. I found villagehatshop.com which has some SPF hats. I'm thinking of getting one of those because while I have a hat now, it's wide brimmed and white so sometimes the sun reflects off of the water or something else and back onto my face and I still get burned.

My mom is Scottish. So yeah I don't usually "tan"....only after I've been burnt then I have a tan after. But it's definitely not worth getting a sunburn for it. I'm ok with being pale. But I'm thinking I'm gonna get so much sun so I need to be really careful. I don't spend 12 days in a row in the sun in Manitoba.....I'm gonna overheat in Florida if I'm not careful.

Pale is the new tan. :rotfl:

My ancestry is: English, French, German, Scottish, and 2 kinds of Native American. With this skin tone and all the freckles, I got most of the English and Scottish and the Natives must have been off hunting and gathering when I was conceived.

LOL! Great description! :rotfl2:

This October weather is gonna be interesting for this Canadian girl!

I live in North Dakota (about 80 miles from the Canadian border), so I completely understand what you are talking about! I'm used to the summers being hot and the humidity but not in October. I'll have to remember not to pack the warm clothes away in September like I always do.

We are staying at CSR from 9/29-10/6

Exactly another reason why we take breaks midday for showers and fresh clothes :goodvibes.

lol Yeah! It's usually just JULY that it's really bad. And I work full time. So if anything I have 2 days off a week (I work till 7pm) and I still have laundry and dishes and stuff to do. So I might be outside for a few hours a week.

This 12 days in the sun....hope I can drink lots of water and not get heat stroke or anything!

Cool. I'll be at POR sept 29-Oct 10

:)

Wow this thread has grown so much!

Nearly ADR time, whoo! I've made a rough day plan so we could decided on what ADR's to go for. And the 6am EST booking time is a much more reasonable noon here!

Can't decide about the photo pass...are other people going for it? If we're goning to get one I'd rather do it now before the proce goes up, but I'm not sure about the benefits of getting one, if that makes sense?

Can you add us to the list? We will be doing MNSSHP. Can't wait!

Added!

As for the weather, when I was there in 2010, it wasn't bad. In the 80s everyday but comfortable, not overly humid & gross. In other words, you didn't walk outside and begin sweating in 10 seconds. However, in 2009? 90 degrees and up everyday. I was running into the air conditioned attractions!

I'm trying to decide about this too :confused3 I haven't bought this before so I'm not sure if it will be worth it for us or not (3 adults for our trip, no kids!). I'm thinking I might go ahead and purchase it before the price increase, and then I can decide later whether to use it for this trip or wait for a future trip with the kiddos! I definitely need to learn more about it though to see what all it includes. Any feedback would be appreciated! :goodvibes

We always join a photopass share on Facebook. We take tons of pics and edit them the way we want and it usually only ends up costing us around $20. The only downside is you are putting your trust into a stranger to get those pics to you. Also, it takes longer to get the CD sent to you because you have to wait until everyone has finished editing and the CD needs to be copied by the lead.
We have had great luck and have just signed up for one in Oct.

I would think that you will benefit from Photopass more on a trip with the kids versus an adults only trip. The best place to learn about Photopass is here...

We got the Photopass last time and we're glad we did. We ordered the CD after we got home and now we can go back and look at those photos whenever we want. Usually when we travel, I'm the one with the camera so there are tons of photos of hubby and almost none of me. It was great to have the Disney photographers there to take pics of us together so we can have them in the future.

I would have to second that about the Photopass. It is definitely worth it in my opinion. It was so nice to actually be IN the same picture with my family for a change. And this year, I plan on making our Christmas cards from one of the Photopass pictures.

I've gotten Photopass 4 times. The first time was 2009 on my Hubby's and I's trip to WDW. The next 3 times were to DL! 2 of the times I was on a trip with one other adult or even solo. The last time was a Photopass share. I felt it was worth it in any case! I stop at most photo ops and yeah a lot of the posses are the same but occasionally you will get a good photog who will have you do something a little different and it makes for a fun memory!

AS far as the weather! :scared1: I was hoping for cooler come October! I'm a low 70's kinda gal! especially with all that walking!!

Speaking of Photopass, do they still do the "secret" photos?

The photos where something that wasn't there when you had the photo taken appears when you get your Photopass. I remember one of the ones we had was at Animal Kingdom and we had to stand a certain way and when we got the photo, it looked like we were holding baby Simba.

Odd Numbers years bad, Even Numbered years good, gotcha.

Yes I realize that's ridiculous logic but I'm rollin' with it.

According to that website they do...there were locations for ones with Simba, Stitch, Tinkerbell and some others.

Also if you go to a MNSSHP there are a couple of ones you can have taken with ghosts in the background!

This is a good website for information on Photopass: http://www.stitchkingdom.com/disneysphotopass/

Last time we went, we asked every photographer if he/she did any special shots (generally the ones where their cameras were NOT on a tripod could do some, I think) and we also made sure to mention we'd already pre-purchased the CD. I believe it helped us get a lot more shots for our money as we'd never had so many photos taken in each location before. :thumbsup2
