October 2011 Code Watch

After much debate I booked the current FD package. Only becasue the rooms are getting limited and w/out a discount we won't be going. I called this morning to see about a pin in our name. No such luck. The CM did say lock in our rate NOW. But my problem was I don't want to go the end of Sept. but I will if no other codes come out. So I locked in that package. He did tell me to keep looking in a few weeks to see if they extend the FD. But we all know how much the CM's know. So here's hoping they release the FD extention soon. Before I buy my plane tickets....Then I will really be LOCKED into those dates.

I am still holding out but with all the limited availability of anywhere we would stay (GF,Poly,BC or YC), I am seriously thinking of trying to get the Swan instead.

I dont really care about the free dining. We did that once and it as a hassle for dh. I know even at the Swan the govt. rate is blocked out for some of the dates we are considering.

Never been to the Food and Wine and would love to do it, but I dont know if its going to happen for us this time around.

So I booked 6 days at BLT Oct 2011 one bedroom in Feb and its $4800 with park hopper tickets for a family of 4. BLT one bedrooms are booked for our dates, so if a discount comes out, I guess I can't apply it to our reservation?

I thought this sounded so expensive but it was the resort I was interested in because we can walk to and from MK, have two bathrooms, w/d and separate space for dad and I.

I got the same spiel from the cm to book now and watch for a discount. But now that I'm watching, I'm starting to question the cost and it seems a discount won't apply.

I have started looking off site, because I don't know if I can do a standard hotel room with our kiddos for 6 nights. I can book the Waldorf Astoria one bedroom suite with air for $4600, but since we live in California and won't get back easily I liked the idea of staying on property.

Ahh...disney limbo.:confused3

In February the 40% off villa promotion was running it did not end till I believe 3/27, were you not able to book BLT then with the promotion? Are you sure you did not get in on the 40% off promo running at that time?

Like you said It is highly unlikely if a discount comes out that BLT will be included in the promo, since BLT is sold out for your dates. Maybe if you can be fexible you might be able to get a 1bdrm on property just not at BLT and save some $.

Air must be expensive from California so I can see where the pkg at WA w/air would be an attractive alternative. On the other hand staying onsite and being imersed in the Disney Magic 24/7 is so great.

Hard Descision for sure. Good Luck.

I did the same thing back in Dec 2010 to lock in FD in case nothing better came out but did not want to go in September either although that promo was better since it ended on 9/30 and I was able to extend it into early Oct.

I eventually changed my dates to mid-October after DH was lucky enough to get a 20% not a big savings since rack rates are higher in October but we dropped two days and were able to stay on budget.

Just thought I would chime in on what the CMS are saying about "locking in" rates. You won't believe it, but I spoke to 2 different CMs last night and this morning via the pop-up chat on the Disney website. Both of them said, word for word, I needed to book soon to lock in my rate (didn't let them know I already had reservations....just that I was searching the website for a discount).

I told them both they were very helpful and thanks. I did ask both about free dining and/or any discounts that would be available for the time I was looking at - October. They both told me that things are updated all the time and that a new discount or offer may be out by the end of August.

UGH....I am so sick of this waiting game. Don't any of our friendly TAs have any inside info for us to stop our suffering!?!?! :)

If any new promotions come out or if any of the current ones are going to be extended, I really think Disney is going to wait until the last possible minute to fill rooms if they need to because attendence is lower than they expected.

At this point, using the need to pay in full 45 days before your trip, I doubt we would see anything any earlier than 08/01. On the bright side, that's less than 2 weeks away. All we can do is stay positive right? :rolleyes1

I think that's exactly right... they are waiting 'til the 11th hour to fill rooms with no discount. I think the discount will come later than sooner... if at all. :sad2: If we don't see something in the next few days, I think it will be mid-August before I will personally get my hopes up for a discount.

I still don't know if we should book (a room-only or a package) at POFQ that we can only afford with a GP or AP discount. If no discount, then it will be renting at DVC or off-site for us.

I found this on another thread for what apparently came out for last FALL 2010:

Last year they had a special offer for October and beyond:

The room-only discount codes which were released today are good from 10/3/10-11/23/10, 11/27/10-12/25/10 and 1/1/11-2/16/11. The discounts are:
* Save 25% at Disney Value Resorts and Animal Kingdom Lodge
* Save 30% at Disney Moderate Resorts and Grand Floridian Resort
* Save 40% at the remaining Disney Deluxe Resorts
* Save 40% at Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts

These codes were released on 8/16/10. So the PPs who are saying August are right on the money if history repeats itself. I think I'll bop on over to Disneyworld.com now and see if I can get a CM popup chat...hmmm.

Just thought I'd pass it along.

Good find!!! Also, over at mousesavers.com, they have all the historical discount information for the last few years. Which can be helpful and nerve-wracking!

We just canceled our room-only reservation at POP. The cast member was very apologetic, and asked why we were canceling. DH told her that a value just wouldn't work for us anymore, but that moderate was too expensive without a discount. She stammered "oh. uh, um, ummm, ooohh, mmm" for a few seconds like she wanted to say something but couldn't get it out. DH said it was quite weird and awkward. Then she sighed and just blurted out "sorry you won't be staying with us." DH told her it was okay and she uh'd and mm'd again. Then she finally said with a giggle "You *WILL* be back! Have a magical day!"

So sad that I'm reading into a CM's tone of voice... but even DH, who doesn't follow any of this discount watching stuff, thought she sounded awfully hopeful! :cloud9:

I think that sounds very encouraging!:goodvibes

We tried to book Swan or Dolphin for our dates, they were going to be less than carribean beach with the teacher discount, but they were completely full. I think there is some convention going on the same week we are going.

Does anyone know if some of those rooms typically open up closer to the convention date? Although I am needing 5 rooms so that may not work either....:confused3

I "locked in" a while back because we are staying in a Family Suite at the All-Stars. It's really the only good option for our family of 6 (number of beds, fridge, etc. without going way up to a DVC or staying offsite. Since I know the Family Suites sometimes don't qualify for discounts, or are extremely limited, I didn't want to take the chance that we wouldn't get one at all because our dates are firm. I have a room-only; I'm hopeful I can do better than my 10 percent AAA discount, but we're going regardless.

If my dates or resort choices were more flexible I might have held off booking.

If its the 3rd week of October you speak of Gartner basically engulfs
the Yacht Club Resort, The Beach Club resort, The Swan and Dolphin are overflow bookings.
The seminars take place at the Yacht Swan and Dolphin resorts. This convention is so big that Disney gives them their own TV channel to broadcast all of the seminars happening each day. This resort area is pretty mobbed every year with tents, beach parties for this company at night among other things.
It just might be the biggest conference at disney at one given time. They do it every year at basically the same exact time.

as to not be negative as I have been labeled by DisneyGuess.
If you can kinda ignore this comings and goings it is a manageable area.
Compare it to a weekend at the world showcase during food and wine.
Pretty mobbed so if you can handle the food and wine can cope easily with that area at the swan and dolphin...
Its basically just seeing alot of people with those name tags walking around everywhere with bags, briefcases, etc.
But like i said, they do set up some of the semiars at the swan or the dolphinm, although every year I stay at the beach this same week I have never seen the tents set up at theese 2 resorts, just see people walking to and from, ITs the beach club and yacht where the parties happen.
so if you were to pick from the 4 the swan or dolphin might be your best bet cause the tents appear to be secluded whereas they are evident at the yacht and beach.

Thanks beachclub.
Sounds like I probably wouldn't want to stay there even if rooms did open up.
