October 2011 Code Watch

When I called last time I had about 3 PIN's attached to my name, the first time I called I got someone I could tell was new, so I called back AFTER she hung up on me by accident hehe. The second lady was very helpful and of course none were applicable to me, but at least they were there. I am a first time Disney visitor as well as my dh and dd so I'm going no matter discount or free dining, but of course something like FD especially for me would come in nice. Who doesn't want to save a buck or two ! I will say this I was a newbie back in February before I found this site and now I think at times I know more than those TA's lol I love it here, but I purchased my flight already and booked my trip OCT 15-22 wayyyyyyyyyyyy back and when I look around on the site there is no availability for that week. The last PIN I got was an email one, and it was for my dates for about 4 of 7, but I would have had to change to POFQ and it would only save me abour 280 bux I have my heart set up CSR and now I am rambling I went away from the keyboard and totally don't even know what my point is lol ! :confused3

Just canceled my POFQ package with my whopping 20% off code. We decided to stay at Bonnet Creek instead. Wow, that place looks really nice, and it's substantially cheaper than the $550/night Disney wanted for a 1 bedroom standard view room at BLT with tax. Only 5% of Disney rooms ever get discounted. That's what I was told today when I canceled.

This year we won't be doing Disney exclusively. That's a first for us. We're going to do Disney, Universal and a day at Sea World. Our last day will be for MNSSHP.
We're not EMH people. Never been to an evening one, and maybe did MK morning emh once.

This year's trip was totally by surprise due to an awesome airfare I got. If it would have been planned farther out, I would have been able to rent DVC points for BLT or BCV like I did the last 2 trips we took to WDW. Too bad for me.

I hope everyone gets the resort they want with a discount code!!

I can't wait for October to get here!!

I am sure you will have an awesome vacation. It makes sense to go where you can get more room for less money, especially if you are planning on doing more than just Disney.

Our first 2 trips we stayed offsite, mainly cause the first time I did not book in time to secure a room we wanted on Disney Property this was back in 1989, then we actually like the Travelodge in Disney Villiage so we returned there the next year but back then the price was like $160 much along the same lines as staying onsite.
Our 3rd visit we opted to try the then fairly new POFQ and never looked back have stayed onsite ever since.
Now that Disney has so many onsite properties you can get great deals offsite, Orlando has really been built up since when we first went in '89.

We did visit US and Seaworld when staying onsite at Disney but I do think if we ever plan another trip to include those places we might try offsite for at least part of the trip.

O.K. Everyone, since I have taken a new job and can't go on vacation in Oct. Disney should start to release the Free Dining/Discounts. I guess I will have to start watching for Oct. 2012 Free Dining/Discounts. Here hoping free dining/room discounts come out sooner than later for 2011.

Really getting tired of waiting! I'm afraid to book airfare, since there were blackout dates last year. I'm afraid NOT to book airfare, considering if it doubles in price, it would be a wash (or even more expensive) if I wait for free dining.

Cheap airfare or free dining?

Darned if I do, darned if I don't!

Question: Right now we are holding a value resort package with park tickets and Plus Dining. If they extend the FD package, traditionally the value resorts get QS meals. However, you have the option to upgrade to TS (plus dining). On the flip side, moderate resorts have traditionally come with TS when the FD was released. Did anyone run the numbers in 2010 for what the difference is between Moderate/Plus Dining and Value/Upgrade Plus Dining? If the cost is the same, wouldnt most people just book the Moderate (assuming they want the table service)?

Heya-
Just based on what's been offered so far this year (both pins and general offers), I wouldn't be counting/basing budgets with using TS Dining for moderates. So far for this year all I've seen has been TS for Deluxe and QS for Moderate and Value. That was what I got as a pin for summer, and what the general offer was this year (not the dining offer from last year)...

Good luck to all hoping for free dining! :goodvibes pixiedust:

That's a GOOD point! One that I knew about but didn't bother to take into consideration when "running the numbers". Okay, where's my calculator?

Ok. I called Disney today and asked if there was a discount under my name (b\c everyone said too) and guess what???? There WAS a discount, 20% off Mod's, or 30% off Value. They were not good enough for me to change my off property reservation at this time. After the phone call I went onto the site and "saved" a vacation plan, so maybe if I call back Monday I will get a better discount.

Right now we are booked at Buena Vista Suites for $588 total for 7 nights. The Value resort prices given today was $652...I am not giving up my suite for a motel 6 type of room. (I grew up with both parents working at Hilton's and Sheraton's so understand, I just can't go down)

PaulaSue - call disney and ask if there is a code on your name....it's always worth a try.

If you are willing to stay off property, go to mousesavers.com and check into Buena Vista Suites (perferred off site hotels) they are running a HUGE special right now, but booking up fast. $89 first night, $59 every second night....it's a suite, and full free breakfast, no resort fees, no parking fees. They do offer transportation to the parks, but we are driving so I didn't relaly care.

I am a little confused, I'm not going until Feb 2012, however, booked awhile ago and so only to give a $ 200 deposit , I booked a basic package, what I'm really hoping for is a 40% off pin code, room only, is that possible or should I have booked room only ?

If you either get a pin or if a GP discount is announced you can call and check to see if it can be applied to your reservation, it can be if the resort and room catagory you currently have booked is showing availability in the pool of rooms for the particular pin/and or GP discount. If not the CM will tell you what is available and you might have to change resort or room catagory but YES you can always apply a room only discount to a package.

Great deal! I love the full breakfast and the suites at a value level price. However, it isn't on property. My DD8 and EXWK2* are picky about that. I've turned them into real Disney snobs.

Hi all. I had a question and was hoping all the pro's could help. So I booked my package back in March, Moderate Hotel, 7 day park hoppers and DDP, no discount for Oct. I know they have since raised the park tickets. Today I logged into the site under my husbands name with the hopes of playing around and sparking a pin code. I priced out my same vacation and to my surprise the price was the same. Shouldn't it have gone up since park tickets were raised? Confused :confused3

Package prices are set in the summer of the previous year usually August this summer it was June. I don't think they change the price of the packages even if ticket prices go up.

Thanks NRPOFP, so ht ehigher ticket prices will only apply if I booked a package for 2012 OR if I were just buying tickets and not a package for 2011? Cool, I have family looking to go in Nov. but only if a discount comes out and that will be cool if they get the lower prices (will book a package). I assumed they would have to pay the higher prices.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just went and read about BVS on my mousesavers newsletter per your suggestion and ended up booking my 11 night stay there, just in case free dining doesn't get offered. Thanks for the tip! :thumbsup2

Hey there, glad you thought it was also a good deal. When are you going? We will be there October 8-15.

I will keep checking for a better discount on property, but it will have to be a REALLY good discount (40%) to get me to change it.

Hi all

DHusband and I are planning on heading down to WDW from Oct 15-20th. We already purchased our flights (at a stellar price) and now we're just counting minutes and hoping for an Oct. deal to be released soon :rolleyes1

Glad I found a thread to play the waiting game with friends doing the same thing. Thanks for all the great info thus far!!

Thanks to you wonderful ladies, we're now considering it as well. I'd love to stay at POR, but if I can save us $100 or more per night, well...that's $1,000 right there. I'd need free dining to get me to stay on property.

I can thank you enough for the info. Even though I get the mousesavers newsletters, sometimes I am slow to read them and this is an awesome deal. I'm gonna play with the spreadsheet and numbers (including parking and such) and see what's what. The only I think I didn't like with the room layouts was that there didn't seem to be a whole lot of closet space. That is one thing I absolutely love about the rooms at POR....we had enough space for all four pieces of luggage with room to spare.

thanks again!!!!!:thumbsup2

I think it is a good deal, too. We have stayed at the Marriott World Center before, so I know the location is great. I am really hoping for free dining so that we can stay on-site, but this is a great alternative if not. The free breakfast and extra sofa bed are great extras. We always rent a car, so the Disney transportation is not a perk we use, but I would miss the EMH hours.

We are going October 20th to October 31st. :cool1::cool1:
