October 2011 Code Watch

Well, it is not a hotel discount, but the flights I wanted just dropped by $50 each and I found a $10 coupon for Airtran from Little Debbie(not sure the connection, but it's $10!) so I saved $160 today. Yea!!! So here is to being hopeful and searching for discounts.

Still keeping a positive attitude and hoping discounts or FD will come out for Oct soon.:dance3:

:rolleyes:Actually I don't have a hard time understanding anything. All I have said i I can't imagine Disney going totally cold-turkey on discounts at the end of a year where they have offered plenty. Next year, you bet, i can see a huge reason to scale back, the FL expansion. They will have no trouble filling rooms for that, none. So while I still maintain that something will come for the last 3 months of the year, I understand them wanting to wean people off. I have no problem with that per se. I do have a problem with you calling me out & saying I'm not getting it. I get what you are saying, I choose to believe different. Again, I HAVE NO IDEA about end of the month October availiblity! All I can attest to is the availbility that is there for December, which is WHEN I'M GOING! Read my post if you're going to call me out. I'm certainly not the only one choosing to be positive. It definately comes off as negative when you are talking to me like I am a child who doesn't understand anything.
& for the record, I've never told anyone to wait to book on the chance that a discount will be forthcoming. I myself am already booked, so why would I give someone advicethat I myself am not taking?! & I also shut down the "Big Announcement" thank you very much. Once I read into it, I already knew it had nothing to do with us & I said so, several times.
Thank you to quit reading my posts & responding to them. I come here because I enjoy all things Disney & your "realist" is pretty negative, especially when pointing it out to & on specific people.
Again, I will think & believe what I want, I'm not the only one nor will I be the last. Obviously this & many, many other Code Watch posts are of the same thinking. So until the proverbial fat lady sings on my vacation, I can choose to believe, think, hope & wish for what I want. I'm glad some many think that Disney will not have to offer anything. With our economy still what it is, maybe not in your home, but in mine, we were hit hard the last 2 years. Will we go regardless of Disney' offers, sure. Will we stay on-site, nope. Will we spend as much in their gift shops, restaurants, etc, nope.
Again, have a wonderful evening. :flower3:

I was actually singling you out cause you seem to have a hard time understanding why they do not need to offer anything. So I responded with 2 fold. #1 There really isnt "plenty" of availability in the end of the month and #2 Disney warned us that they were getting rid of them.
#2 is what people seem to be ignoring. Im not being negative at all. You need to think about their actions as a whole.
They said they were doing it and they have been doing it all year. How on gods earth would they need to offer discounts.

Its not being negative, its looking at the facts and being a realist.

People on here are even telling others to Wait to book until discounts come out cause they are sooo sure they are going to come out. Talk about giving false hope. By the time people on the fence book there will be not a darn room left.

These boards are so funny, I should've known that being a realist means I am being so negative.

As i said before, I myself and hoping something happens, but i see the writing on the wall...and I think it
doesnt include your Big announcement you were to have.....god, talk about giving people false hope

its all good. I didnt say you were the source of the waiting till you book idea...I merely said people on these boards..Please dont put words in my mouth or twist what I say..i said "people on here are even talking...etc
Where did you get this directed at you personally....?

I can respond to any post I want, remember, its an opinion, so we're even.
Your the one who keeps calling me out now on my opinions cause it was your
quote I originally used that I went with...sorry you cant accept critizism and If i hurt your feelings. really I am.

And if you are hoping/booked for December you do realize this is the October hopefuls section, correct...SHouldnt you be directing your efforts
and encouragements there and not on the october board.

Keep thinking i'm being negative, thats fine. All I know Is i have the room I want in October, something I will be happy with. Any discounts on top of that is just the icing on the cake.

I have been watching this thread for a while. We have booked for the last week in October and are also hoping for some form of a discount (FD or a general discount), but we are willing to pay rack rates for this trip. This will be our first trip staying on site. It will be our DS and DDs first trip to Disney and we are staying on site regardless. Based on my math, if we get a decent discount we are looking at saving about 15% of the rack rate (for FD or a discount - without airfare). My wife and I have only been to Disney once before and we stayed offsite. We said that for the first trip with the kids we would stay at Disney. After this vacation we will look at the options (buying DVC points, Disney discounts -if available), or staying offsite. Hoping for discount but looking forward to our vacation with the children in October :)

on a lighter note.
Regarding this demise of incentives. Has anyone thought of other options to be able to stay on site but still receive a discount.
What I speak of is renting DVC points from a member. Theres this new guy running a business of renting out DVC points for members.
13.00 a point and it takes about 100 points to rent for a week at say Saratoga. I know its no free dining or 40% off..but while we wait around for October discount rates to possibly come out. What about the future when there are no discounts to speak of at any time. Could this be a lucrative
opportunity to bea DVC renter?
1300.00 for a week at a deluxe isnt all that bad considering. Heck its prob cheaper than that Beach CLub Lagoon view I pay for every year.
The only obstacle would be to trust the renting party, correct?

What do you think of rentals? have you done it? Does it go smoothly?
Is it really a good discount off the rack rate for that room?

I am not sure how many of you are AP holders but I just called to book a room for 10/25 to 10/28 at rack rate because I am getting nervous not having anything booked. When I mentioned I was an AP holder, the CM told me that AP rates for later in the month would "definitely be coming out." Obviously, we all know that the CMs on the phone don't always give out completely accurate info, but I am going to choose to be encouraged by what she said!

HOPE! I hear hope in the text. Don't tell Disney this but we are going Oct 16 - 19 or Oct 17 - 20 one way or another. Code, discount or no discount. We have AP's and I want to feel that I've got full use out of them. I'm calling Member Services once a day to try for a studio at AKL Jambo, BWV or OKW. If that comes through before the AP discount comes through I'll take it.

What is the song from Young Frankenstein? "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life"?
Not to be picky, but it's from Spamalot.

Then you're probably on the wrong thread - this is the October code watch thread, and we don't really care about December. You're welcome to stay, of course, but you may not get the info/support you're looking for.

For myself, I've got my AAA discount, so I'm going anyway. I'm not expecting a discount, but that doesn't mean I can't watch for one and perhaps be pleasantly surprised. I'd rather do that, then the other way around - not watch for a discount and then miss it if it does come out!

No one said I was looking for support or info on this thread. I am on the December thread. I think I can read & post where ever I like & am not the only one on this thread that is not going in October. :hippie:

Of course you can, and I never said you couldn't. But just don't SHOUT AT US if people assume that you're going in October.

Am I the only one not booking yet? (DH wants to move our trip up to this year) I hate the thought of making a ressie and then changing it if a code becomes avaliable.

Dh is bugging me to book and I just can't do it, yet. Without a decent code/discount (we can get AAAs) I am seriously thinking of jus saving $$$ and going offsite. I have registered for maps, a DVD and even Dh registered for some things. (I am quite shocked since he has never done anything to book a vacation besides say yes.:rotfl:)

Have you called to see if a PIN is attached to your or your DH's name? I have had one and not known until I called, so it is possible.

Nope your not the only one. My DW and I talked about not going to WDW this year, but I would like to surprise my DW with a week long trip in Oct for her B-day. Could we afford "rack" rates. Sure...but IMO, the WDW prices are so high for everything now, that what you get doesn't warrant the over-inflated prices anymore. So who knows..maybe I'll just pay "rack" if nothing comes out because it would be B-day surprise..but I'll just have to wait and see I guess...I could look into AAA discounts as well but I am hoping for better. :surfweb:

I think that I may be with you in the holding off crowd. I just hate the thought of paying rack rate. I've looked for a DVC opening, probably won't get it but if there isn't at least a 30% AP Room discount, I am actually considering staying <gasp> off property. The dates we are going MK closes early two days any way for MNSSHP so EMH aren't an issue. We'll have a car so that won't be a problem. Actually, if we stayed off property I'd probably save a bunch on food as we'd eat breakfast offsite and maybe a couple dinners.

While I hate thought of paying rack rate, I also hate the thought of stating off property. :confused3

Yikes  I think we are all here for the same reason to discuss our upcoming trips and share ideas and hope for discounts. Whether we go in August, October or next February. We all have the same reason for being here and everyone has their own opinions. :yay:

We are going in October discount or not!!!! It would be nice to get a code, but we will go regardless.

I'm right there with everyone wanting a discount. I, too, will be going whether we get one or not, though.

This is where we are now:

Total Price: 3774.79
Per person/per night avg.: 134.81 (family of 4 - me, DH, DS-14, DD-8)

What are we getting:

7 nights at POFQ
8 days of tickets with Park Hopper
Lunch, Dinner and a snack every day
Transportation to and from the airport
Transportation to and from the parks and DTD
Wonderful memories with my kids - probably the last time we will go with DS willing to hang out with us.;)

I don't go several times a year - I don't even go every year, so this doesn't seem outlandish to me. It is special and rare for us.

Why we did the Dining Plan - regular one will save us money - I picked several table service and counter service restaurants and looked at what we would order and after about the 5th day the basic dining plan will pay for itself for us. I don't know that it would for everyone. QSDP would not help us at all.

Just thought I would share the perspective of someone that doesn't think the mods and values are a rip-off. There is no way I could do a deluxe, but we don't mind. I do think the fact that you are in Disney has value.

OK - don't beat me up too bad on this.

That's exactly us! We're booked at POFQ with a room only, but if no discounts come out, I would not consider paying rack rate. Free Dining would save us around 60%, but I'd love a simple 30% off! I can also get a Premiere AP because my DL AP expires soon. But there aren't any AP rates for October either! :sad2:

We've looked long and hard at off-site hotels and like the Buena Vista Suites, Marriott Village hotels, or the Caribe Royale so far. We'd need to get a car though. I hate the idea of staying off property, too. But I'm liking it a lot better than paying rack rate! :lmao:

We're also considering renting DVC points, but while waiting for discounts this close to check-in... who knows what's going to be available at DVC??? How is it that renting points is cheaper than rack at a moderate??? This just astounds me!

:scared1::confused3:eek::

We booked through AAA and did get a small discount. What is this RACK rate everyone talks about??

Thanks:confused3
