Scenario: I have another cruise coming up soon. I am considering doing an online booking now for another cruise near the end of this year. Do they still allow re-shopping to receive the 10% discount (non-concierge) and the onboard credit, while keeping the same cabin originally booked?

But my NEW question, as I don't recall seeing it discussed here, is: If once aboard I decide I'd like to switch the later cruise to a different sail date, would they be able to use the deposit from that then canceled booking to apply to the new cruise date? Will they just do a change of date (same ship and guests) with additional payment only if the price is higher? Or would I need to make a new deposit and then await a refund for the canceled cruise?

TIA

I believe you'd have to make an actual payment, and be refunded for the canceled cruise.

Bummer. :(

I was hoping they could switch the date without doing a cancel/refund.

Thanks for the reply.
Are you talking about just changing an onboard booking (already booked) cruise to a different date? If so, you can move an onboard booking (and whatever's been paid applies to the "new" cruise) to another cruise, as long as the cruise is taken within that 24 month period that started with the original booking date.

No. I am pondering booking a cruise online for late this year. I have another cruise taking place just weeks from now. While on that cruise, I hope to either re-shop the cruise I would book (before sailing) online to get the OBB and hopefully 10% discount, and/OR switch that cruise to a different date while aboard. The ship, guests and itinerary would be the same as originally booked, just a slightly different sail date. Sorry for the complicated scenario - lol.

I just hate to have to make an entire new deposit when they'd already have my money, so was wondering if they could utilize that money for the new deposit, in addition to providing my CC "for the record" and any additional price difference. I know that on land they can do this, but do not know if they will do so on the ship.

OK, in that case, yes, you'd have to cancel and get a refund on the first booking. And make a separate payment for the onboard booking.

Well, in that case I will probably wait until my upcoming cruise to book the later one. Thanks!

I have been able to transfer a deposit from one booking to a totally different one. But my TA did it for me and she says it depends on the CM and the day if they do it or not. So, you could at least try.

Hmmm. Thank you. I know it can be different with a land-based TA though. Booking directly with DCL as I always do, one would think it would be simple for them, but being on the ship may make a difference due to their connection. Or if it depends on the CM, some of them may not even know how to do it. I might just play it safe and wait until onboard to book though. The sail date will be firmly decided by then, and since I'll probably be spending quite a bit during the cruise, I don't really want to risk having to pay a deposit again and then wait for a refund.
