Here We Go Again
Posted April 14, 2008

You know, I just spent seven and a half years disagreeing with the administration that has given us an unprecedented military and economic mess. I saw it coming, it came, and in some ways it was worse, and promises to get worse, than I foresaw. I the course of these seven years, I have had my patriotism questioned and demeaned fairly often. I was even put in a book, as one of a hundred people who were hurting America. When I got into this book, my relatives worried that I would get shot by some rightwing nut, even though several of them were and are rightwing nuts themselves (and they carry guns). All this time, though, I considered myself a patriot and a loyal American because I was able to see the destruction that was being wreaked upon the nation, and in particular, upon the middle and working classes, by the Republican liars and war criminals and job outsourcers and health care destroyers and army wreckers and infrastructure ignorers and media *****s and agriculture blackmailers (see this month's Vanity
Fair).

So now, Barack Obama tells the truth about conditions as we know them---that the countryside and the small towns are dying in many places in our country, and that the corporatocracy doesn't care enough to do a thing about it. He points out that immigrant-baiting, gay-baiting, gun-baiting, and religious pandering have helped to destroy those towns and that countryside, that those being destroyed have been cynically enlisted by their very own destroyers to provide the votes that help accomplish the destruction. And this is what Senator Hillary Clinton says about it: "Senator Obama's remarks were elitist and out of touch. They are not reflective of the values and beliefs of Americans."

From Senator Clinton's remarks, I infer that to actually see what has gone on in the US in the last 20 years is unAmerican. It doesn't matter who you are, where you were born, what you pay in taxes, what else you might have contributed to the culture, how you vote, who you support. If you don't support fundamentalist religion, job outsourcing, and free access to guns, then you are not even American.

I cannot believe how angry this makes me. I cannot believe that after the last seven and a half years, I can even get this angry. Yes, I know she is pandering to her audience. Yes, I know she will do anything to get elected. Yes, I know that she and Bill Clinton are corrupt to the core, and that I should have never expected anything better of her. But, please, any of you angry white women who still support this craven shill, don't mention it to me. Do me the following favor -- apologize to your children for not stopping the war that HIllary voted for, the war that is going to impoverish them. Then apologize to them for the effects of global warming that are going to make their lives hell. Then apologize to them for the school shooting they may someday see, the one where the kid gets the guns out of his father's gun case, or buys at a gunshow. Apologize to them for the meaningless wars they are going to fight and pay for. Then tell them that "American values" killed their hopes and maybe killed them. And ask them if they think it's going to be worth it.

I tried listening to Hillary but she just sounded so fake and condescending. I was watching the autism fund-raiser on Comedy Central. I watched more of Obama and thought he did well. Don't know that I really like the concept of talking about their religious beliefs, feels a lot like pandering to the religious right. I guess there are people that care about stuff like that. I did like Obama's answer to the creation question, he does believe in evolution too.

Can't wait to see the debate, hope he wipes the floor with her. I am finding it harder and harder to think about having to vote for her. If she would somehow manage to get the nomination I just don't think she can win in Nov. It scares me to think about having McCain as president. Maybe the Mayans were right and the world as we know it will end in 2012. There is another prophecy that the next Pope will be the last Pope.

I agree. I don't like this concept either and hope it is not repeated.
No she won the coin toss so she got to go first...she did not ask to go first. It was not the candidates idea it was the broadcasts idea so to be fair and not bias. :thumbsup2
Well then you better tell Campbell Brown from CNN she's wrong since she is the one who stated Hillary chose to go first after she won the coin toss.

BTW, are you lost???

I was told earlier on your thread that I don't have any business there (even though we can all post where we want). I was engaging in some meaningful conversation with some of your respectful supporters and your thread police came out and basically told me to take a hike. Or are Hillary people the only ones allowed to cross threads. Let me get my Hillary scorecard back out so I can take note.

Holy crud!! You beat all of us!!! I'm a liberal love non-fat lattes and love white wine! I think Berkeley has me beat :lmao: :lmao: I am from Vermont now though, that's a close second :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Course as I sit here on the East coast listening to Hillary at 11pm waiting for midnight to hear Obama, it's a little much "Politics isn't a game" Uh, yeh, to you it is....

I just can't stand listening to her.... I'm sorry...

Yep. I'd say Vermont is a close second.:rotfl2:

one person told you that....one person.....we all welcomed you. And we engaged in what you were saying. And again the broadcasters decided on the coin toss and yes she won it but it was not hers or Obamas decision to do that. She came up to go first so she did. What was she suppose to do say...O no I dont care that my name came up first....so Obama you can go instead :confused3

Sorry I will bow out....not ment to upset anyone. I appoligize and if you want me to remove my posts let me know.

I'm sorry to be on this thread but I wanted to state that you trying to get your point across HERE will do no good IMO. There is a new Liberal thread in case you or anyone else has overlooked it.

Backing out slowly... :scared:

Well regardless, that one person said something pretty nasty when I responded to someone elses question directed AT ME and others agreed with her I called her on it and she basically said to get lost, so I took my toys and went home.

FTR, I specifically heard Campbell say that since Hillary won the coin toss then Hillary got to choose if she wanted to go first and Hillary chose to go first. I posted that immediately after hearing it because it was just another irony related to Hillary and her whining. If I'm wrong so be it but I know what I heard, I'm not going to sit here and argue with you all night.

Everyone else, their is a video up on CNN about what I posted earlier about Obama pushing back at Hillary...It is hilarious...I don't think I've seen him this fired up (and having fun too!). It's under the headline for tonights forum.

You are one of the few that I've always respected what you had to say, and I appreciated that you didn't engage in the berating of those with differing POVs. What happened?

I understand being disappointed over the state of things, but the things we've said here haven't caused it. Just because I don't like Hillary, doesn't mean I don't like you. :hippie:

:lmao: didn't she whine at the last debate about always getting the first question?

Love the video!

Annie get your gun! :lmao:

Is it me or is WW3 starting on the DIS between the Hillary and Obama supporters? :rotfl:

I've put a couple people on ignore because I'm just getting so sick of it.

I admire Obama for trying to talk to people like they are adults, but I think it's pretty obvious that all most voters are interested in are 30 second sound bytes about God, motherhood and apple pie and other platitudes.

I can't say I'm surprised at how close and spirited this primary has been but I am surprised at how some of it has played out on the boards. I think both sides sometimes forget who the real opponent is, me included. Having a spirited discussion and primary (and support for your candidate) is what democracy is about but what I don't like is the name-calling and personal attacks against individual supporters or a group of supporters as a whole. I certainly am not immune to this but I do try as best as I can to keep it about the candidates (or McCain) as best I could. I let a few people get on my nerves and I let my emotions get the best of me but I have since blocked them. :hippie: So I apologize to anyone here or on the Hillary thread (who reads here) about any offensive comments I have made.

I really can't wait for the primary to be over and we can unite behind our candidate to take on McCain - he is getting a free pass right now and I'm sick of it.

----------

Has anyone read the Field blog? It's a pro-Obama blog and the writer, Al Giordano, always has some great posts (and the comment section is always a hoot ;) )

http://ruralvotes.com/thefield/

He has some great posts on the first page regarding "elitist" Obama.

I have to say that it really irritated me the way Hillary brought up "closed door meetings in San Francisco". You know that San Francisco is just a code word for right wing liberals to some.

She came off as so phony I could hardly watch her.

I laughed my head off when I heard Obama referring to her as Annie Oakley. Since when did die hard democrats become so gun happy.

I hope the superdelegates are getting sick of her "win at all cost" campaign.

Maybe she should be McCain's running mate since she seems so fond of him. Calling Obama an elitist is right out of Karl Rove's playbook.

Now, that I've put some people on ignore, the political threads are full of gaps. ;)

Yeah, but they're a lot less irritating to try to decipher. :teeth:

To jme829 - I coulda told ya' what would happen when a couple individuals saw your comments on that thread, and, of course, you will be blamed for it too. Just let them have their thread and stay over here where it's a bit friendlier. ;)

To Planogirl - You should know that you are more than welcome to post over here. One thing you'll notice about the posts on this thread...yeah, we beat Hillary up pretty badly when we believe she deserves it, but we do NOT attack the people supporting her. At least, I haven't seen it, and I would have said something if I had. In my opinion, that is the biggest difference between the two threads. Over there, we're referred to by derogatory names and laughed at for not knowing anything about politics. If you want to know why there is some hostility here towards certain posters on that thread, look no further than the posts telling jme to get lost.

On a happier, and funnier, note, did you see Reverend Wright say this weekend that Sean Hannity and his Faux News friends were "stuck on stupid"? :lmao:

"Sean Hannity's stupid fantasy will keep him forever stuck on stupid when it comes to comprehending how you can love a brother who does not believe what you believe."

Thought that was kind of a nice little motto for Sean. :thumbsup2 I can just hear the voiceover now "Sean Hannity...He's conservative...He's the voice of the right....He's....stuck on stupid!"

:teeth:
