NY and NJ visitors

Yes, if you go down to FL (or the other states on the list,) for vacation and come back to NY, NJ, CT, you will have to quarantine once you are back.
Actually, you'd better plan a long trip. You'll have to quarantine for two weeks IN Florida, and then again for two weeks when you return home.

Yes they flew. So unnecessary and stupid in my opinion. And he came back and worked at his second job, as a bartender, for a few days before he came down with symptoms. So who knows how many others he infected. I also have a friend, who flew with her 15 year old and *80* year old mother...to Florida, where her mom has a second home. Why did they go down there? They too were *itching* to travel. I was so worried for her mother that I gave them N95 masks for both ways. They've been home a few days, so hoping they don't get it too. Just incredibly risky and in my opinion, foolish behavior.

This is where contact tracing should come in. the people on the plane and at the bar should be notified that they were potentially exposed and act accordingly.

Yep, that's going to be key. We should look at what the other states have done wrong, and not repeat their mistakes. I'm sorry, but indoor dining and bars in any form....are a bad idea. Once you're inside, mask off, eating, talking, laughing....that virus is in the air, and is going to spread.

I agree. Keep dining outdoors as much as possible. ::yes::

I think, though, that they are hoping the infection rate is so low, that there aren't enough COVID people infecting each other.

Although, I don't understand how that would work? Once we got our first patient up in New Rochelle, COVID spread like wildfire. I would think it has the same potential to do that again. :confused3

I was looking over the numbers of infections earlier. We got our first two cases on Mar 1 & 2. By Mar 5, we had 22 known cases. We didn't even have the ability to do many tests back then. By Mar 23 we had up to 20,000 cases in NY state. :sad2: It spread that fast.

California is really in bad shape too...over 7,000 cases today which obliterates their total from yesterday.

Kind of rich if Florida still has a quarantine in place for anyone entering their raging pandemic. They had their highest total caseload yet just today, of 5,500. Florida is going to have a rough time of it. They're continuing to open up and let's see what happens when Disney opens. I'm gonna tell you....you might be okay outside with a mask on down there, but once inside any building, with masks off to eat, drink, etc....you're got a pretty good chance to catch this thing. After seeing this thing blow up across the south and in the west, DH and I are resigned that we won't be going to any inside restaurants until we have a vaccine. We're holding our collective breath here as we reopen, really hoping that our numbers don't spike again. However, if they do, I'm confident our governor will do what's right.

If a person violates the quarantine, they may be subject to a judicial order and mandatory quarantine.
They may have to pay the costs of quarantine.
$2000 for first violation.
$5000 for second violation.
Up to $10,000 if they cause harm. :scared:

BTW, the Govs hope people will report violators. That if someone attends a business meeting when they should be quarantining instead, the coworker can send off an email somewhere to report them. When people from one of the states checks into a hotel and they are seen not quarantining, they get reported too, etc.

My best friend's family went down to FL on Monday to stay with his FL resident sister this week. I wonder if this will require his family to quarantine on return? Sounds like it. Wonder how it will be enforced. They flew down, might get the quarantine papers when they land?
If it works like it has traveling from the Tri state to Florida, you are given the quarantine papers while you are on board. They should announce it at the gate before getting on the plane, in case a traveler isn’t aware

Think in NYC, Haircutter have just opened up.

Yep, our local news anchorman hadn't had his hair cut the whole time:

This is why we canceled going down to the Jersey shore this summer. We didn't want to have to wear masks on the crowded boardwalk outside. And we didn't want to chance eating indoors or spend all the time indoors in places in masks. :(

I'm sure you've seen some of the video of how the owners of certain bars are allowing young kids to pile in, no masks when close to each other...etc. We're seeing the results of that now in Florida, Texas and Arizona. California is really in bad shape too...over 7,000 cases today which obliterates their total from yesterday.
Wow, didn't realize CA was getting up so high. Hope they can reel it back in.

Outdoor dining is safer than indoors. Bars will be opening up, Haircutters. Think in NYC, Haircutter have just opened up.
NJ too, on Monday, with social distancing, plexiglass, masks, temperature checks... I’ve been getting many haircut and pedicure pics from friends who are braver than I am.

I reheat all my takeout food before eating it. I won't have sushi until this is all over. So haircuts are out for me. :scared:

I don't blame you. We're not going anywhere, other than shopping for necessities until this is over. We haven't eaten outdoors yet at any of our local restaurants either. Many of the tables are way too close, and I have seen many of the servers with masks below their noses...etc. I know the chances of catching it outdoors is pretty low, but we can certainly survive a year or so of not eating out. And....my cooking skills, which weren't half bad to start, have really improved. I'm enjoying cooking more than I ever have.

I saw a few posts today claiming you can get tested after 72 hours, and if it comes back negative you don’t have to quarantine. I have no idea if this information is accurate. I couldn’t seem to find a source to confirm it or if it even applies to the tri state area. Any ideas?

I haven't heard that yet, but I'll see if my cousin got any guidance. He's young-ish...28, but still, he should know better.

If you have a trip planned to go to WDW this summer. I'd seriously rethink that decision. The airlines are packing these flights full. People can take masks off in flight to drink and eat. So...might as well not have a mask at all. It's legit *nuts*.

And I'm not sure if NJ will enforce this in a way that NY is planning to do. But, had my own cousin flown down there knowing about a 14 day quarantine, and then didn't follow the rules....I would have ratted him out immediately.

Come on people....be smart, stay home if you can, and if you can't...wear a damn mask.

We are lucky, we are renting an ocean front 8 bedroom house in Point Pleasant, plenty of room, staying away from the boardwalk and restaurants. We will bring supplies from home and order takeout and grocery delivery. My sister’s family is flying in from Chicago, luckily they shut down well in the beginning.

Good for you! I love Point Pleasant Beach. :)

It's not all that far from me now, but my Grandparents lived in PPB, such great memories :). If your sister and family can wear N95s on the flight...and not take them off...at all, definitely the best way to go if they're going to fly.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I wasn’t sure of the validity of the claim but figured I’d ask!
