November 12, 2005....7 Night Eastern...Who Else?

Hello...I have definitely seen "favoriteauntie" on these boards before....I recongnize the name. Isn't it interesting how some DIS names stick with you and you recognize from thread to thread? :wizard:
Tell her to come on over, rover! :cool1:
Today was not a great day.....kids REALLY TIRED from sleepovers-not in bed until after midnight!...kinda cloudy and rainy....we are all recovering from colds....until I had time to kill while DS was at a gymnastics b-day party so DD and I went and explored Home Depot...in search of the infamous :rotfl2: alien green :rotfl2: mickey heads in the pain chips department! :cheer2:
I was instantly so excited! I saw the Disney sign from above the paint chips and just so hopeful that "alien green" was available! Actually explained to DD (almost 8) why were we in search of them without spoiling their surprise (remember they don't know we are yarding them out of bed on Nov 10th to fly across the country!)..... ::MickeyMo she has seen lots on these boards...including hearing the DCL horn and she about goes crazy! :rotfl2:
"If only we could some day get enough money to go on the Disney Cruise ship, Mommy!"...she says.... ;)
Low and behold...there they were...all 30 of them! And I cleaned them out! I initially felt guilty :confused3 but only for a quick minnie-minute ::MinnieMo ......I guarantee you two things (1) I would bet $$$ that no one else from my small town is even a DIS member and knows about the alien green mickey heads. (2) who would paint that God-aweful color on their walls? :sad2: My DD got totally into it and even explained to DH at the dinner table tonight what we would do with the mickey heads if "we ever got so lucky to go on the Disney Cruise!"
It was the highlight of my day and I have stashed them aside with other misc. items to pack....only a few so far....I will get much more out of control during the upcoming summer. :rolleyes1
Does anyone need any mickey heads mailed to them in case they are not near a Home Depot....or you live near a DCL thief like me in your hometown? :rolleyes1 I would be happy to mail some out. I THINK I HAVE TOO MANY NOW :earseek:
Until later......DIS NURSE

P.S. Do you suppose a middle manager from Home Depot has ever gone to a board meeting and put on the agenda, "alien green-Disney's most popular color"? I bet the discussion would include the uncanny proportion of replacement paint chips needed to be put on order compared to the actual # of cans sold of that horrible color! :rolleyes1 :wave2: THANKS TO THE DIS BOARDS! :grouphug:

Hey gang!!! Getting excited here :flower: :cool1: :Pinkbounc My husband just asked a great question: What cabin (or deck for those private minded folks) is everyone staying in?

DIS NURSE and family is going to be in stateroom 2120 on deck 2........unless of course, we are lucky enough to be upgraded! ;)

DisNurse!!!! I had to pull out my Passporter! I thought at first that 2120 was a category 2 and I was thinking to my self:"upgraded to what? ;) " It has long been a dream of mine to sail in a category 1 or at least a 2, now if only I can win the lottery :rotfl: :rotfl:

 Nope....you are unfortunately incorrect....we are in category 9 with the poor people! pirate: Just kidding....I am so excitied to have gotten that room! In fact, just last week I wrote a check for $2,120.00 and it brought a smile to my face because it was our stateroom #!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Aren't I sick in the head? :earboy2:

barkley chiming in-we're in #7598. though i could never imagine paying to stay in-we did get to visit another diz member in one of the suites (the roy disney i think?) last trip. HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE! 2 full bedrooms, a large living room and dining are, totaly high end. i don't know if you could have ever gotten me out of the place on a cruise (imagine the perk of being able to order your room service from palos every night :goodvibes ). the couple that were staying in it were great-they did up the entry hall (yes, it had an entry hall into the living area) as a haunted house for our little band of trick or treaters.

well i hit the book store this weekend and bought birnbaum's wdw and disney cruiseline books as well as a frommers book on wdw just to brush up on the changes since we've been there. the cruiseline book gave some good info. and reviews of the excursions offered.

i'm still surfing for airfares-i wish south west would post beyond september!

Boy I'm glad that we already booked our airfare already. We paid $746 for 4 on american now the airfare is over $2500 for the same fare. If you see something cheap book it fast . :flower:

:cool1: We, too, got a great deal on airfare...all the way from across the country (Orgeon...and from a small airport right near our house) for only $389 each! I bought them in January! Yes, the Southwest rules about not putting out dates very far in advance drove me crazy...that's why we are flying Delta this time. :flower:

Hi all...we have 2 connecting rooms on deck 7....even though they are cat 10 rooms, there should be enough room for all of us....on the last cruise, we didn't spend too much time in our staterooms anyway. Can't wait...each month that passes, we get more and more excited!

Take Care!

Here we all are again with the public information as posted on our boards. I guess we can figure that those of us with DHs are actually DWs ourselves etc. I can't wait to meet all of you. :Pinkbounc

I'm all set for the 6 month dance next week.
:thewave:

I need to start reading on the time it takes to tour St. Johns - ferry crossing included. I really (really) want to see the National Park....oh, yeah, and that diet thing to fit into the formal wear!!!! Don't remind me :earboy2:

We are on deck one. We got the last two connecting category nines on the ship. We have the travel agent trying to get us moved up to deck two. We have first seating for dinner.

Can't wait to get to the six month mark either!!

If anyone is looking for matching tropical apparel, I found a great site, www.matcheez.com I think I might get matching dresses for dd and I, but then just get solid color shirts in a coordinating color for the men. I know there is no way I will get dh into a hawaiian shirt!

Diet? Ha As if I don't have enogh to stress about right now, My car insurance just skyrocketed (thanks to a new vehicle) and my DD needs braces!!! :teeth: OUCH!!! where's the chocolate double fudge triple scoop icecream brownie sundae with extra whipped cream? I am going to have to cut back on some of my excursion planning :sad2:

Oh by-the-way we will be in 7064. See 'yall in 193 days!!!

Hi all! Looks like the planning is really coming along! :cheer2: We're on Deck 6 aft this trip. Late dining for us! I'm so glad that some of you have countdown timers...192 days sounds good to me!

:wizard: FYI....we, too, are second seating. DS will be within days of turning 6 when we sail so I will list him as 6 ;)

:wave2: Please keep reminding us all how many more days! I love to hear that! :cool1: I absolutely LOVE summer....but I am already looking forward to Sept. when the kids get back in school....'cause to me that is the start of the REAL countdown....Fall approaching and OH MY GOSH I won't hardly be able to control myself on Halloween! I will wake up that next morning and pull out those suitcases for sure! I usually throw a huge Halloween party for the kids, their friends, and the neighborhood......NOT THIS YEAR! Call me bah-humbug but I will be saving every ounce of energy, extra calories, and extra $$ totally focused on the cruise! Maybe my kids will have to dress up like pirates just so I can justify buying extra pirate stuff! Just think, the day or two after Halloween we'll all be able to hit Target or Wal-Mart and get pirate stuff for 75% off!

hey dis nurse-if you are set to stay on late seating for dinner do you want to try to get a table together? let me know (i will probably waive wait list for early for someone who realy wants it). also, my husband's bday is a week before sailing-so when i made our reservations i had them note it so that he will get his comp. bday cake and "happy bday to you song" (very nice from what i remember last time) on the second night of dinner-so make sure you let the line know about your son so they can make a fuss over him one night at dinner (you can also get a bday card and drop it off at the desk first day so that all of the characters will sign it (hit them up for a full cast photo autographed as well-they will usualy do it as a comp.). not to be pushy-but since we're forming a "family" of diz here have you considered a surprise bday party on one of the "at sea days" for your son? i know my kids would get a big kick out of surprising your son with a birthday celebration-in fact if you are interested in doing it and want a co-conspiritor just let me know (i would be more than happy to bring some bday favors and decorations).

on to other topics-what is the deal with pirate night-they have not done this on the previous 2 cruises we've been on? is it a pirate type celebration? if so, I have at least one pirate costume that my son wore a couple of years ago that might fit someone's child, it would be no problem to pack it and bring it along-i'll check the size . with regard to tropical apparel (not to offend anyone) but the best resource i've found is goodwill-seems like a lot of people are given tropical shirts and dresses from well intentioned friends who travel to hawaii, they turn around and donate it to goodwill-you can get great deals (2-3 dollars a piece) not to mention beautiful beaded dresses that are one time only wears-i assume high school reunions-at less than $10.00.

back to the pirate issue-anyone interested in working this out as a group-the girls could all be "wendy or tiger lily" and all of us adults could be the pirates. in california we have "halloween superstores" that are only open for october, however their wherehouse is near my hours-we could get the plastic shackles for the kids and have them dress up as the lost boys and wendy/tiger lily? let me know.

Hi Anastasia - I know just what will cure DH lack of exitement on tropical shirts.....A trip (or two) to Hawaii. It sure cured my DH. Now that is all he wears. :rotfl:

Have a great day all Dis Ship Mates.....One week to go before the 6 month countdown begins.... :Pinkbounc

Could I be any more excited? :cheer2:

Hi,
Anastasia kindly pointed out this thread to me, so here I am! I honestly don't have the time to read all the posts, sorry....

This will be my 5th Disney Cruise. I will be sailing with my parents (their 12th or something) my sister and her son. He is 10 and a really great kid!

We will be celebrating my parents 49th wedding anniversary...already have the big 50th anniversary cruise booked for next year!

I think we have connecting cabins on deck two, and I believe that we requested the main (early) seating.

I totally love the DCL, and would cruise with no one else!

Oh Yeah, here is our cast of characters:
ME!!- Joanne (favorite-auntie)
My sister- Lynne
My nephew- William
My mom- Barbara
My dad- Bill

Counting the days until sail away!!!
