November 12, 2005....7 Night Eastern...Who Else?

How do we "unite" our threads? And get to meet our fellow cruisers. I'm new, like Dis Nurse and only found this thread.

FYI cuisers - those sailing on the Nov. 2006 cruise are boasting of 256 some replies

Yeah...I am up for whatever form of a thread all keeps us together...and yes, I am very new to this...I can't even figure out how to attach a picture! But recently there was a post about this very confusing issue...I will try to figure it out when I have time..... :flower:

I don't want to get ahead of myself....but cannot help but notice, like the previous poster, that the Nov. 11, 2006 special Western Cruise with 2 stops at CC includes quite the bunch of cruisers and would be fun to go on! We all have that temptation of "rebooking" onboard and I am wondering how many of us already are looking at that? :wizard:

I know WE are.....but I am still convinced that waiting until at least the first of the year is the very best rate.....even better than on-board rebooking "discounts". Anyone have any comments or suggestions?

DIS NURSE - you are going to have sooo much fun. We did on our first this past January and are hooked!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: Let's try to find our missing ship mates....

Hi guys - I 'm surprised how little activity there is on this thread! I can't believe there aren't more cruisers for this date. When I look at the other threads, even for cruise dates way past ours, there are pages and pages of replies.

Anyway, we're really looking forward to the cruise. I love the idea of exchanging postcards with the kids. I think it would be very interesting for the kids to learn about other areas.

Here's hoping for more fellow cruisers to join the thread.

:flower: Hello...I am back too.... :wave2:

I agree that there seems to be hardly anyone going on this cruise! But stastically we can expect it to be a full ship....aren't they all just about full when they sail?
Do you suppose this is one of those cruises that DCL pre-claims (holds) staterooms for their own WDW and DCL employees....offered at increadible rates? They surely wouldn't coorspond on these boards...they already know everyhting and are probably sick of Disney talk....plus the :wizard: magic :wizard: is probably spoiled to a degree being an employee?!

:confused3 Who knows....I have wondered this from the day I started this thread....how come no one else had already started one....and where is everyone? :confused3

We are tentatively planning on rebooking for Nov.11, 2006.....probably will wait until we are onboard....we can't afford the extra $1,000 deposit yet when I am trying to save for this upcoming one. Do people think this is the best way to do it anyway? Truly saves you $$ or just feels like it? :earboy2:

:grouphug: Talk to you later.....DIS NURSE :flower:

I am thinking about rebooking too and then moving the date further out, It is my understanding that you can pay the minimum deposit of $250 per adult (2)
to secure the room and then add on munchkins later (but not too late, they have to plan on how many children etc.) But I may be wrong about this..,

The $200 on board ship credit is one reason to book on board. Remember that you can move the trip you booked to the TA of your choice :goodvibes

My wife, 8 year old son and I will be on this cruise. It is our first cruise of any type, and we are excited beyond measurement, of course.

We also just bought into DVC so we will actually be flying out of Rhode Island Thur afternoon, spending 2 nights at OKW before boarding the Magic.

Hi Anastasia, I'm originally from Walpole, MA and have lived in Andover for about 10 years now. Small world isn't it? I loved the idea about the postcards, I'll be sure to pick some up hoping the kids do end up making friends on the cruise. As I said before, when we took them last time....DS6 DD4 were still a little bit clingy...I think they will be more adventurous this year! I just wish the cruise wasn't 200+ days away!! :hourglass

:goodvibes Hi guys! (I could not bring myself to say Ahoy matties pirate: )
I was Wondering who we all were and came up with my own sort of ships roll call. I do not have any Magic postcards but would be willing to pick up some WDW Mickey/Minnie and send them to the kids on our list. I may be able to talk a friend into mailing them from the WORLD. Or, I could send blank ones to you and you could re-mail. Let me know as being new -- I'm not sure how to work out the logistics. Addresses, names etc. Things you may not wish posted. That said, here is our " :rotfl: " call! We need 16 cards to cover the kids, but DU, DMIL and Aunt (DA?) perhaps should be included....

ok - so I just read the main page, should have done this before posting my last reply, and it has the guidelines for mailing and requesting post cards at
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=629204
Thanks MOINAB for thinking of the security. These boards are great.

If the November 12 cruise mates wish generic postcards of Mickey and Minnie, I will still pick some off and send them as the thread suggests, and then we will have the luck of the draw! :earseek: :earseek: You will need to request the same way....When we get to the ship (200 days away) we can compare notes to see who received what!

Great idea, Chip! If you need any assistance, let me know. I live less than 10 minutes from WDW. :cool1:

:confused3 Hello All.....maybe because I am at work right now and can't entirely concentrate (and I have a headache and pink eye...not a great day for me  )....but please spell out the plan/details a little clearer about these postcards. These postcards are different than the "swap on board amongst kids", right?

I am glad you complied a list of us all :grouphug:

Thanks. BTW......I am now onto a Cypress Point kick and am seriously considering cancelling the Nick hotel after our cruise and staying at CP or the Grand Villas at this resort. Any of my fellow cruisers have experience with this place?

I would like some info about the post cards too... Both the swap on board and other wise... I live in a big tourist Seashore town, so it won't be too hard for me to bring along postcards, as long as I get them before the end of the summer...

Dis Nurse - Is there a reason for you not to try to stay at WDW. The new Value Resort - Pop Century is quite a hoot. The various hotels are themed from the 50's to 90's with 3 pools....We enjoy staying there and I am sure the kids would. :wave2:

:wave2: You know...I have looked into a lot of options and the value resorts being one of them. I do think the kids would have fun there...but here important factors in our choice....
;) I (we) really want a water slide at our pool. Non at the value resorts, right?
;) I am an excercise freak and really want a decent gym
;) It would be great to have a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker...even if small and the basics only
;) we will be renting a car after the cruise so on-property transportation isn't requirement

But keep the input coming....I have lots of time to decide. So far we have stayed at Marriott Grand Vista (last year)...was great! I have already booked and then cancelled the Caribe Royale....still think that place seems good at $115 a night...I am currently booked with Nickelodeon Hotel at $190 a night. I am looking at Cypress Point but am open to ANY SUGGESTIONS! :flower:

barkley sounding in here! we will be coming in from california on the 6th and staying at saratoga springs resort until the 11th when we head to cape canveral for the night (and yes, for you fellow dvc members: i used every point left in my current use year, borrowed from next year and even had to rent a few extra-but with travel time and expense we usualy do a BIG TRIP every 2 years with our dvc interest vs. those of you lucky enough to live closer to "home" for more frequent visits:>).

with regard to the questions on postcards-the way we (Halloween Cruise ala Magic) did it before was to rally a count of the kids (and adults) that wanted to participate, then each participant brought onto the cruise enough post cards from their home town/state or nearby point of interest to trade one card with everybody else. it was fun listening to the kids talk about their cards and question each other about the differences in climates, school scheduals and the all important television offerings. it was even more fun when the adults tried to guess about what a town was like based on it's "official postcard".

with regards to get togethers-we had one poster who was very enthusiastic and actualy gathered everyones names, cabin numbers and dinner seatings-called the cruise line and managed to get everyone on the same dining room rotations and assigned to large group tables for both the early seated and the late. i don't know that anyone wants to volunteer to undertake something like that, but if someone is booking the "romantic escapes" package that allows pre boarding reservations at Palo's-from what i've seen on other threads you can make a reservation for more than yourself and your spouse- if you wanted to call and see if you could book for a small group at the brunch or high tea (we will be celebrating all of these anniversaries after all), that might be fun. but as far as informal goes-it's just a matter of picking a time and a place. it might be fun to pick a time and spot during the bon voyage party, then everyone can decide from there.

oh, yeah-another idea is to wear a nametag during boarding with your dis name, we had several people do this and it was a hoot to hear a scream in the terminal of "oh my god, DISPHAN220000! it's so good to be able to put a face with a name; honey this is DISPHAN-you know, i've been talking to her for months!".

well we have a lot of time to come up with ideas, and it sounds like the majority of the kids are in the same age range so those of you who are letting your kids know about the trip might canvas them for ideas (as for me-mine won't know until 11/1, that will give them 4 days to bounce off the walls at school and only 1 day of "are we leaving yet" for me to contend with).

talk again soon-

barkely :teeth:

:cool1: sounds all good to me, barkley.....I am yet to even get to Home Depot for a green alien paint swatch/mickey head but I will! Wow...sounds like you had some serious organization going your last cruise! Was it fun? Did it add to the experience?
As things get closer I would love to compile a list of excursions people are planning on doing and have feedback from previous cruisers as to what is worth the big bucks$$$.

It's so fun to dream about this vacation! The internet is such a great tool to plan your next vacation! I have only been to WDW/Orlando once but I am pretty on top of the resort choices and fun to be had just from the tips of my fingers on this keyboard! :cheer2:

Barkley...tell me what you know about the place you are staying prior to the cruise....don't know much about that one! :confused3

Sounds like a great trip.....
DIS NURSE :flower:

:flower: Wow...I just briefly looked at Saratoga Springs a minute ago...I had forgotten about that one...newly opened in early 2004? Yeah! They have a water slide! Yeah! They have a nice fitness facility! Can anyone tell me more? They have fridges and microwaves, too! Is it neat being that close to Downtown Disney fro the view and eating choices? Can you walk there or take a boat?
Now, you see....I am on Saratoga Springs kick and am still thinking about cancelling the Nickelodeon Hotel..... :guilty:
Help! :flower:

P.S. They mentioned two water slides...I saw a picture of the little one for munchkins...anyone see or ride the "bigger one"? :Pinkbounc

Try this page:
http://dvc.disney.go.com/dvc/guest/resorts/resortDetail?id=SaratogaSpringsActivitiesDetailPage

Click the 'Take a Virtual Tour' on the upper left part of the page.

Select the pool section

The middle magnifying glass gives you a shot of the exit of it, I believe.

We haven't been there yet, our first time will be the 2 days before this cruise.

Since it is a DVC resort, I hear that the best way to stay there for non-members is to rent points, not to pay cash.
