Now that we have the baby and all her stuff I was thinking of trying space bags this trip. Has anyone used them? Do they work well? Where did you get them?

Yes, I've used them to go overseas. I got them at Linens and Things and they do work pretty well. They are the ones that you vacuum the air out. The problem is that I tend to overpack when I use them and they made my suitcase pretty heavy! Of course I got nailed with an overweight charge and my husband was none too pleased!

That is another thing the baby is going to be on our laps on the plane so my wife wants to bring the boppy to hook the baby up easily. Has anyone done this? Will they count that as a carry on?

Hopefully the splint and booty will help, but if he needs an ECV make him use it!! The least he could do is help you get on a few rides before others. LOL

I think you need to milk this for all it's worth. I mean, he IS legitimately handicapped. Take advantage of it!

Space bags are at Bed, Bath and Beyond, but I think I have seen them at Target. I used them for packing when we had to put stuff in storage for a few months and they worked great. So I tried the small ones for a trip we took this summer and they worked even better. Get the small ones that you just roll to get the air out. Works like a dream.

Well, I'm back for two seconds and wanted to update everyone.

Mighty Good Man is now a Mighty Limpy Man. Good news- not broken. Thank God. However, the ER doc said that he ripped a muscle or ligament and so he will have to wear a splint/bootie thingy for at least 4 weeks to let it heal. She said she was impressed with his high pain tolerence. He IS a mighty Good man! She gave him pain meds which he promptly refused.

He told me that when he did it, he fell, said a cuss word and then said, "Jodi is going to be furious."

And I was so mad that after I checked on him and made sure he was fine, I went and spent an obscene amount on clothes, makeup, shoes AND THEN...
I went to the spa.

His unfortune turned into a pampering day for me ---- I had to do something- he had my pressure all up!

Thanks guys for all the prayers and PD sent our way... it really stinks that he's going to be hobbling around, but i am thankful it wasn't much worse.

Quick update.....

So DBF got me all upset thinking that renting our DVC points was a scam when i brought up that we still haven't gotten our ME docs yet. So i sent the DVC landlord (if you will) an e-mail and waited... well all day at work i kept checking my email with no response. So I made the call to reservations. I gave them our "confermation" number and thankfully they had us in the computer for our trip.... phew!

When i spoke to the CM i also asked her about my ME docs and she gave me the number to call ME directly. I gave them a call and they had the wrong address!!! I emailed her our new address but it must not have gotten to the ME express people or something. So the CM at ME (which was the sweetest lady ever!!!) changed my address and she is going to have them send me another one. Seh said it can take 7-10 days not counting sundays.... we leave in 12 days counting sunday!!! She told me not to worry... she thinks it will get to me on time but if it doesn't not to worry that it is in their system and just to check in at the ME counter at MCO even if we don't have them. She told me to have a magical day and i must say i'm feeling like i'm on

I am so glad this has worked out for you and everything is okay. This is the exact reason I am hesitant to rent points. I'm afraid I'll get that one dishonest person and there won't be any room at the inn for me.

Jo, glad to read that Mighty Good Man is ok. I too think an ECV may make things easier for both of you. In my Guidebook to Disabilities for WDW most of the time the ECV goes right through the regular line which makes it easy. Be sure to grab those for each park.

I am also renting points this trip from the nicest guy. I have no fear that my room will be there. I've talked to CRO at WDW and they had all of our names in the system and I sure didn't call them in I plan to call 4 days prior to arrival to make sure AKV has us in the system. Can't wait! 17 days to go!

Thanks eyor! I'm glad it worked out too. DBF and i were really hesitant about it but this girl seemed legit and we went about it as responsible as possible. We did payments through paypal, we've contacted each other over the phone as well as e-mail, we have her home address... Even with all of that we, obviously, had some worries along the way but it was so worth it. I went to the disney website and priced out how much it would be just for the hotel room at AKV and it was 1600$ we only paid 10$ a point and it was only 40 points for our total stay.... 400$ as opposed to 1600$ SO WORTH IT!!! It was the only way i could get DBF and i into a delux resort.

Nope. As a matter of fact, the only person in our house that has ridden in a limo is DD. She got to ride when she was invited to a friends birthday party after school one day. The mom called and said they were surprising the girls by picking them up in a limo and taking them to eat and where ever else it was they went (I forgot, but maybe bowling). She was checking to make sure we didn't mind DD riding in a limo. DD was super excited and still talks about it.
