Hi DISers,
Here's a list I compiled in anticipation of my January WDW trip. I hope it helps some of you plan your non-park hours! Check times on shows/tours - don't know if the hours listed here are accurate. I'm looking forward to doing some of these on arrival and departure day
!!!
*Disney Transportation: Ride the monorail, two loops (resort and Epcot). Stop to visit any resorts you want. Or take Disney Transportation boat rides, from MK to Wilderness Lodge, or between Downtown Disney and Port Orleans/Riverside or Old Key West Resort. Ask the boat captains if they have trading cards or stickers.
*Rent a bike at Villas at Wilderness Lodge, bike over to Fort Wilderness on a nicely paved path. Visit the horse stable (the horses from the parades!).
*At Animal Kingdom Lodge go to Boma (restaurant) for a free tour. Wilderness Lodge, Grand Floridian and Yacht Club also sometimes offer free tours some require a reservation so inquire in advance.
*Visit a Butterfly Garden. There are two at Contemporary Resort, on the left side as you walk out the back of the lobby towards the pool and lake, and at Fort Wilderness, outside the Outpost. Call the Gardening Hotline (407) 938 3900 for more info.
*Chip 'n Dale's Campfire Sing-along nightly at Fort Wilderness Campground, at 7or 8pm. Free (can purchase S'mores kit).
*Non-character campfire/sing-alongs at Port Orleans Riverside and Animal Kingdom Lodge. S'mores kids also available for purchase!
*See Yehaa Bob perform at Port Orleans Riverside (Wed Sat), or hear a show of Jazz music by Elliot Dyson at Port Orleans French Quarter (Wed Sat).
*Watch the animals at Animal Kingdom Lodge, especially in the late afternoon just before sunset.
*Go to a free drawing class at the Art of Animation Resort, daily at 11am, 2pm, and 5pm.
*Sit in a hammock on the beach at the Polynesian Resort and watch the Electric Light Parade (check schedule for what nights it happens) and watch the fireworks over the castle. The music is piped in for the fireworks!
*Chocolate: Ghiradelli often hands out free chocolate samples Downtown Disney.
*Have fun at the playing tables at the Lego store or at Once Upon a Toy in Downtown Disney.
*Take pictures with all the amazing Lego sculptures and the other Disney statues around Downtown Disney.
*There is a geyser that erupts at the Wilderness Lodge down by the boat dock.
*Take a free Disney Vacation Club tour (timeshare) and get free ice cream at the end. The tour lasts around 2 hours. You might also get a free gift card and/or free fast passes for the parks.
*Hang out at your resort pool, read on your balcony, go to the arcade or fitness center.
*Walk around the Boardwalk area, especially at night.
*Watch outdoor movies at the resorts at night. Check which resorts and what time.
ENJOY
