Yum, yum, I love lobster with melted butter. However the one and only time we had lobster on our cruise it was served without melted butter. A "dab" was sprinkled over the top but it was seriously, only a dab, not enough to taste. I did not ask for melted butter since the servers seemed busy at the time but would it have been acceptable to ask when ordering the meal? I do not want to seem picky or create extra work for the servers.

I don't see why you couldn't ask. But I would do it when you order and not after it has arrived - especially since you now know how it usually comes.

They want to please you, if you want to have melted butter, they will be more than happy to bring it to you.
I really thought they came around with a gravy boat of melted butter after they serve you the entree.

I would have thought they would. I know HAL did. I didn't order it (found it pretty meh on HAL (first time trying it so I wouldn't feel I was wasting money if I ordered it in a restaurant and didn't like it or found it meh) so I decided not to waste the calories) on RCCL so I don't know about them.

My guess is they only put a small amount on to start because not everyone wants tons of butter - it is far easier to drown it in butter after the fact than correct too much being on to begin with.

I don't eat lobster, but my husband does (loves it as a matter of fact). He thinks the lobster on the ship is not good. He thinks it's because it's baked not steamed. Don't know if the method of cooking would dictate how it's served or not.

It's certainly acceptable to ask for melted butter, if you want it.

I prefer my lobster without butter at all. When it is really fresh, butter just takes away from the sweet taste. Of course, I'm spoiled as I go to Maine each year for lobster fresh caught everyday.

What restaurant serves lobster Do all ships? Or do the number of days play? I don't recall seeing it last time. TIA

They did last week on the Wonder. My son even got some melted butter for his plate, which was off the adult menu (but not the lobster). You can pretty much ask for and get extra of anything used that evening. My son asked for more caviar and got a small ramequin of it. He was so proud to eat it with a spoon...

Have had lobster on RCCI, MSC, NCL, and CCL, and Princess. All served it with butter, but as far as how much butter, I really don't remember. However, I'm sure if the amount of butter hadn't been adequate we would have asked for more.

I would love to visit Maine and enjoy fresh lobster. It is one of the few states I have not visited. Someday... I probably like my lobster with butter because I have never had fresh.

HI Shmoo. The problem is the lobster they serve is the spiny or rock lobster from the Caribbean. Very different from what we have in the Northeast which is the American lobster, much tastier!

The first time we had lobster on DCL it was grilled and served for rice and I didn't care for it. The next cruise with lobster I asked the head waiter the night before if I could have two tails steamed with melted butter and a baked potato instead of rice. They were happy to accommodate and it was delicious!

On the 15-day cruises DCL usually has lobster twice. The waiter has always brought around the melted/drawn butter. If he forgot, I would certainly ask for it.

Rumor has it that leftover lobster is served on Castaway Cay, but on our cruises there's never been enough leftovers to do that.

I would be ok eating the leftover lobster on Castaway Cay... Especially if they have melted butter. Just kidding. :rotfl2:

We have always had the servers come around with the gravy boat of melted butter which they punted over the lobster tails. If they forgot I would definitely not hesitate to ask for it
