No clue how to do child swap

So we are going to Disneyworld with 3 adults and a 2.5 y/o. We all really want to ride the adult rides, preferably with another adult (no one wants to go solo). How does the child swap work exactly? I feel completely clueless and can't seem find the info anywhere.
