Currently we have a Safari FP for June 1st 3:25-4:25. We would also like to do the Nighttime Safari after dinner (dinner is at 5:15). From what I have seen, the nighttime safari has quite a bit of FP+ time slots left...should I just do standby or will it be so popular, since it is new, that I will need a FP?

I think it will be pretty popular. Right now I am only seeing 2 times (8:30 & 9:25) that would truly might get you a nighttime safari. 8:30 might not even be that best time since the sun doesn't set in FL until around 8:20pm on that night.

I see they have extended the hours to 11pm farther into July but I cannot book FP during the later hours yet. Are they not loaded yet or are they all gone already?

And, that means that it actually won't be "dark" until after 8:45, or so.

It takes up to a half hour after what's listed as "sunset" for the sky to go "dark."

AFAIK, it is both.

As in, some FP+ have been listed, and some have not.
The ones that have been listed have been taken.

Should I be safe with an 8:50-9:50 FP? Is that late enough for it to be in the dark?

I see an 8:10, an 8:30, an 8:50, an 8:55, and a 9:20 which with the one hour window, would all be able to be post 8:45 (aka in the dark). I find that availability in the afternoon is notably less with at least 2 hours in between each fast pass availability.

Depends on the date.

If sunset is listed on your date(s) at or near 8:20, or later, then it will be "dark" by about 8:50 or later.

Sunrise and sunset calendars are available on-line with a Google search.
Put in the location ("Orlando, FL" is good) and the date, and you'll see the info.

I have been online a couple of times every day for our July dates. No night time FP+ for our dates for any attractions yet. 4:30 has been latest for everything.

They just released extended hours for our dates today. From what I understand based on June release of hours and FP+, Disney first released extended hours then FP+ availability slowly began to show up after that.
