Nicky's Wish trip 9-20-10

I can't wait for Day 2 and PICTURES!:rotfl:

Lynn

Sounds like a nice start to the trip! I've wondered what we'll do that first day too. By the time we get to the Village, it'll be probably 2 or so... So I know we're not going to do much!

And what you mentioned about people looking at you at the airport, I wondered about that too! Although since Kira pulls a big ol' vent behind her, it's pretty obvious she's got something wrong! LOL! But you're right, people tend to look at you with that sadness look.

In tears right now:sad1: Disney Photo Pass lost all our photos. When I typed in our photo pass number, it said no photos associated with this number. I called their customer service, and they also said no photos associated with the photopass number. They are going to try and look for them, but no guarantees. I am just sick

I am sick for you!! I'm so sorry!!

I am so so sorry!:sad1: That just really stinks! I will keep my fingers crossed and pray that through some miracle, they are able to find them!

Day 2 – Animal Kingdom and dinner at Tutto Italia: We went to breakfast at the Gingerbread House. The volunteers there are awesome. Nicky had his favorite breakfast - waffles with tons of whipped cream, and fruit loops (without milk), so he was a happy camper. Then we got a styrofoam cup and lid and took some fruit loops to go, so that he could snack on them in the park. Seems like the highlight of the trip for Alyssa was chasing after the gecko’s. They are impossible to catch.
We got to Animal Kingdom and met up with our group of family and friends who met us down there. We went first to Festival of the Lion King.
We had front row. One of the performers asked Alyssa if she would volunteer, but she was too shy. Then we went to Kilimanjaro Safari, Kali River Rapids, and Expedition Everest. Nicky is not big enough for Everest, so we child swapped on that one. Then we headed over to Dinoland and rode the rides there. That is where we had our first pixie dust moment. Goofy and Pluto were there taking pictures and signing autographs and Alyssa and Nicky were able to go right to the front of the line. After that we headed over to the Dinosaur ride. I was not sure how Nicky was going to do on that, because it is VERY loud. But we had bought some noise reducing headphones at Home Depot, and we called them his magic headphones. So he wore those, and he was totally fine.
One last stop at It’s Tough to be A Bug, and then it was on to Epcot for dinner.
By the time dinner was done, tomorrow land was closed, so only world showcase was open. We rode Maelstrom and the boat ride in Mexico. Then the kids picked out some light up toys and we watched the fireworks show. Also, I had my favorite drink at France. It’s a frozen orange drink with some kind of liquor. Kinda tastes like a creamsicle. Good stuff, and hubby had fried ice cream. Stopped off at Wal-Mart on the way back, to stock up on some snacks for the kids, and Mountain Dew (caffeine fix) for me.

Day 3: Chef Micky, party of 16 & dinner at Cinderella’s Royal Table

We just used a sony cyber shot. We are not up on the latest cameras, so I am sure ours is out-dated. GKTW has photographers there that took pictures and put them on a disk for us, so between the pictures GKTW took, the pictures we took with our own camera, and the pictures Disney took, we have a lot of pictures:thumbsup2
Scrapbook time:thumbsup2

Today is the 1 year anniversary of Nicky's diagnosis. Mixed feelings

Day 3 – Chef Mickey, party of 16: We met the whole group at Chef Mickey for breakfast. We waited almost and hour after our reservation before we were seated. They said they were behind on their reservations, plus it took extra to wait for 2 tables of 8 next to each other. It was worth it though. Nicky loved it, plus they new we had a special occasion, so they brought cupcakes to our tables. After breakfast, we headed over to Magic Kingdom. The first stop was to take Nicky to get his hair cut. It was his 1st cut since he lost all his hair from chemo. I also asked them to make his hair fun, so they asked him what his favorite color is (green) so they put some green color and confetti in his hair and some confetti in Alyssa’s hair. Then we got Pinocchio’s autograph and picture with him. Then we bought all the kids Mickey balloons (gotta have Mickey balloons). After that, we pretty much went from ride to ride. Thanks to the magic earphones, I was able to get Nicky to ride the haunted mansion. He would not ride it last year. Just a tip, use the handicap entrance. It bypasses the scary part in the library and gets you right on the ride. We had 7:00 dinner at CRT. Again, they were pretty behind on their reservations, so we waited a while. Alyssa wore her Ariel costume. We met Cinderella 1st and she complemented Alyssa on her Ariel costume and asked her where she was from (and Alyssa told her Chicago). Later in the dinner, when Ariel came to our table, she told Alyssa that Cinderella had told her all about Alyssa and how she was from Chicago, so that made Alyssa feel special. Hubby took Nicky to the bathroom and Belle came by. When Nicky got back and realized he missed Belle, he started crying, so the waitress sent Belle back over, which was nice. Meanwhile the fireworks had started. We could partially see them. Since we were in the castle, and the fireworks go off over the castle, we could not see them 100%, but they did play the “wishes” music in the restaurant. Then we went back to GKTW, and Alyssa being the swimming fanatic, wanted to go night swimming, so we went, but it started to downpour. We had to walk back to our villa in the rain, but it was actually kinda funny.

Day 4 - Sea World and Winter Wonderland party at GKTW

Great pics! I love the green Mickey in his hair!! Alyssa looks so pretty in her costume:lovestruc What a great group you had there. Love all of the awsome tee-shirts.

I'm so glad they found your pics:hug:

Love the pics and the green hair! Looking forward to the rest of your TR!!!:goodvibes

Day 4 – Sea World and Winter Wonderland Party at GKTW: Had breakfast in the Gingerbread House, and hung around GKTW for a while. Rode the carousel and train. Alyssa and I got tattoos and hubby and Nicky played put-put golf. Then we headed over to Sea World (just the 4 of us). Brian and I had not been there in about 10 years, and the kids had never been there, so it was something new for them. We were impressed by the special treatment. We did not wait in a single line, and the kids received free food to feed the fish. Alyssa and I tried to feed the stingrays, but they freaked both of us out, and we just could not do it. Nicky was not having it either. We went over to feed the dolphins. We got there about 10 minutes before the scheduled feeding time, and there was a line up. They put us to the front of the line and let us in before anyone else. A trainer stood right by us, and made sure the dolphins spent extra time with us. I did not see them doing that with anyone else. And the photographers took really good pictures. After that, we rode Atlantis. We really liked it, and rode several times. Then we headed over to the needle ride (not sure what its called, but hopefully you know what I mean) that ride where you get in the enclosure and it slowly takes you up so that you get a view of the park. Anywho, there was an extra charge for that $4 per person. So we went to the ticket booth ready to pay, and they did not charge us (pixie dust), so that was cool.

Back to GKTW for the Winter Wonderland party. The kids each picked out a toy, and we got in line to see Santa. Alyssa said that could not have been Santa, cause he was on the thinner side, and I said he probably lost some weight during the summer and he'll put in back on in the fall. ;) Then we had the traditional holiday dinner at the Gingerbread house, and then we went to the ice cream parlor. Nicky is not a big ice cream fan, but luckily they also had cookies and brownies.
