Nicky's Wish trip 9-20-10

Posting some pictures of us taken with the characters at GKTW. Can't remember which dates they were taken, cause it kinda all blends together. Tip for people in the future.....keep notes of what happens on which dates while you are there, so you don't forget when you get home (like me):rolleyes1

I am loving your TR and all the pics! The ones with the dolphins turned out great! Can't wait to hear more!!!

Day 5 – Disney Studio’s: We did not really take pictures this day with our camera. Disney took a lot of the kids with characters, but I guess I'll have to wait till I get my CD to put those on.

We were on a mission to find Disney Crocs for the kids, but they did not have any at Disney Studio’s. So we went 1st to Toy Story Mania. That is where we met another family who asked us about GKTW. The dad said that the company he works for donates to GKTW, so he was glad to get some 1st hand feedback. Then we headed across the way to where Buzz and Woody were signing autographs. Another pixie dust moment – front of the line. Also, I noticed the CM’s whisper to the characters that it’s a wish kid, so that they get extra attention. Then over to Playhouse Disney. Nicky had really been looking forward to that, so he was excited. And of course, he had to get Handy Mannys autograph and Leo’s autograph. Then we met up with my sister and her family over by Tower of Terror, and the whole group rode. That was another one I did not think I would get Nicky on, because he went on last year and did not like it. But he went on with his magic headphones. When the ride was done, all he said was “my butt went off the seat”. It was kinda funny. Then we child swapped so that we could ride rock and rollercoaster a couple times. Since we did not have dinner plans, we went over to the reservation counter to see if we could get in to the Sci Fi dinner (the kids favorite). We were able to get reservations, but we did not tell the kids till we got there (we kept it as a surprise). We went over to animation alley( not sure if that’s what its called) where all the characters were inside , and got quite a few autographs. My sister had told me that the stores in the on-site hotels sold the crocs, so we stopped off at Caribbean Beach on the way back, and sure enough they had the crocs.

Here is one of my favorite pictures: The group on splash mountain. It was actually taken on day 3.

Day 6 - Universal Studio's Islands of Adventure

I love reading your TR. Can you post a pic of the headphone you got Nicky? Kylee has issues with noises.

I will post a picture. Hubby just picked them up from Home Depot, and they were really meant for adults, but they fit fine and worked fine in a pinch.
But if you have time you can look online and they do have some specifically for kids.

Day 6 – Islands of Adventure. Since we were extending our trip a few days, we originally planned to relax at GKTW and go to IOA after we checked out of GKTW.
However since our GAC would expire, we decided we better go to Universal while the GAC was still good, so we rearranged our plans. We were also impressed with our treatment at Islands of Adventure. No waiting in lines. They directed us to enter thru the exit of each ride and board immediately. Since we had never been there before, I wanted to try and see as much as we could in the 1 day, and they closed at 6:00, so it was a short day at that. But not having to wait in lines really helped. I do not think we could have accomplished ½ of what we did if we had to wait in lines. We got a voucher for 1 free picture at either US or IOA, so we choose the picture they took of us at the IOA entrance.
The kids really like the Dr. Seuss area and the Wizzarding World of Harry Potter. Hubby said the Harry Potter ride is the best ride ever. Of course we tried the butterbeer stuff and that was good (different, but good). I could not believe how crowded the area was. There were even lines to get into the shops. There was a super long line for the wand shop. They probably would have let us in if we really wanted, but we were not that interested. Nicky could not ride the bigger rides in the Harry Potter area, but they did have a little roller coaster that he really liked. He also loved some flying dinosaur ride in the Jurassic Park area

Day 7 – Universal Studios and Nicky’s Sponge Bob meet and greet

I will post a picture. Hubby just picked them up from Home Depot, and they were really meant for adults, but they fit fine and worked fine in a pinch.

Thank you

Can you explain a little more about the GAC expiring? We are extending our trip and were planning to visit Universal after we checked out of GKTW. Maybe I will rearrange our days and do SeaWorld instead because it is very important that my son doesn't have to wait in the long lines that WWOHP will bring.
Thanks for the info!

Sent you a PM

We woke up extra early so that we could do the pony rides before breakfast. When we got there, Nicky was afraid, so he would not go, but Alyssa did. Both kids recieved a cowboy hat and certificate.

Our last morning at GKTW:sad1: Can't say enough about how great that place is:worship:
We went to breakfast and made the rounds 1 last time. Rode the carosel, played some video games, and Alyssa wanted to get 1 last tatoo. The kids got their pillow and we located Nickys star (on the wall just above the boys bathroom door). Checked out of GKTW and started the extended part of our trip. Since the GAC was still good 1 last day, we headed over to Universal Studios (but not before stoping at the car rental to change the car over in our name). First stop at Universal Studios was the Sponge Bob meet and greet! We had a nice sit down lunch at an Irish Pub restaurant that was good. Then we rode all the rides, pretty much following the order on the park map. Our favorites were The Mummy and The Simpsons. There is a big roller coaster there that we would have liked to have gone on, but it was not running that day:sad1:
After the park, we checked in to our hotel for the next 3 nights, which was the Nickelodeon Suites Hotel. We just had subway for dinner in their food court area, then the kids wanted to go night swimming. I took a few pictures of the pool area as seen from our balcony. The room was nice. It was a mini suite. The kids had their own little room, which the walls were all painted with sponge bob and it had bunk beds, their own tv, and a little table and chairs set.

Day 8 - Nickelodeon Character Breakfast, and going for broke (literally) at Disney.

I am enjoying reading your report! Great Pictures! I love splash mountain pics...I have one from 2002 in my office...it is one of my very favorite pictures!

We had decided that we really did not get to see and do everything we wanted to at Disney in the 3 days we were there. We had not rode the rides at Epcot, and we had not made it over to Toon Town or the Wish Lounge at Magic Kingdom. Since you only live once, we decided to go for broke (literally) and buy 1 day hopper passes for the 4 of us. Cost an arm and a leg:laughing:
:wizard: pixie dust - seeing that our GAC had expired, a CM at Epcot suggested we go to guest services. We showed them our expired GAC and explained that we were on the extended part of our trip, and they gave us a new GAC, so we were able to continue to receive the benefits. We had a blast:cool1: Nicky wanted to ride the golf ball again, becuase he thinks its hillarious how they take your picture and do the little cartoon at the end. We went on Test Track and Soarin, we got Aladin and Jasmine's autograph back in World Showcase and we got all the autographs in Character Spot. We also liked trying the different soda's in the Coca Cola Cool Spot. We then took the monorail over to Magic Kingdom. We checked out the wish lounge (which is nice) it was really hot that day, so it was nice to cool off and have an ice cold bottled water:) We headed over to Peter Pan, where a nice CM got us right on the ride and they even let us ride twice without getting off.:woohoo: Then we headed over to Toon Town and did everything there. The kids were able to ride the Goofy rollercoaster twice without getting off too. Good Times:cool1:

Day 9 - running out of steam

Hope everyone is okay! Can't wait to hear about the last few days!

This was our last full day, and we planned to just spend it at the Nick Hotel.
We went to their character breakfast. It was not nearly as crowed as Disney Character breakfasts. We saw Sponge Bob and Sandy and Dora and a couple others that I was not sure about. I am not as up to speed on Nick characters as I am on Disney. Then we spent a few hours at the pool. We were looking forward to getting slimed, which was to take place by the pool at 4:00, however it started raining early afternoon, and kept raining pretty much the rest of the day, so that got canceled. I took the kids to the arcade in the hotel and they seemed to be just as good with that, so they got over it. I was pretty tired by that point, and I still had to get everything packed and organized and hope I could get everything in our bags and on the plane:eek: So we called it an early night so we could organize and rest. I am posting some of the pictures from the character breakfast and a picture of the back of Nicky's shirt, which we got autographed by some of the characters.
