Soooo was chilling on wdwmagic and the spirit is back with some interesting news.

The park soon to be formally known as Disneys Hollywood Studios will be looking a lot different by 2019. A DCA budget has been approved and a five year plan starts after the holidays. TOT RnRC ST and TSMWM are safe for now with two possibly seeing some changes. Cars stars and toys are making appearances in the basically new park. Also look for only one area of the park to stay the same with eve it seeing changes.

Universal? Yep Diagon Ally didn't do what they wanted and budgets have been slashed on everything except kong. The water park specifically was brutally hacked at as well as the third theme park. Some plans have been flat out cancelled. So yea not to great there either.

Enjoy!!

Well I guess I like it and one of the reasons it's popular is because it's something different than the generic walt Disney world 2014 stuff you find everywhere. I only bought one thing from there and it was the try the grey stuff plate. I'm sure women like the bags and make up sections. I looked in the d tech section but nothing caught my eye except the resort phone cases but they had a big DVC member sticker on them and I not a DVC member so that turned me away. We stayed at POR in July and it's one of my favorites but I wish there was some resort specific merchandise. HM is a start and the rumor is a jungle cruise store is coming next year. A tower of terror line is coming out soon for the end of the ride gift shop as well.

I can vouch for the Beautifully Disney makeup. It's actually a really nice quality, particularly the eyeshadows. I do like the handbags too.

I'm looking forward to seeing The Landing when it opens in the Spring.

So you're saying Universal isn't going to be taking over Disney's spot anytime soon? And build build build! Everything has to be new and it has to be done now, budgets smudgets, isn't working out as planned?

Nonsense, several here have been telling us otherwise for a few years now.

Sadly, Pete... You know you won't find what you seek.

They don't want entertainment for the sake of entertainment anymore...

Except in parks... Where it's $100 to set foot in the place and cheaper than building rides... Of course.

I'm expecting a "really nice" mall...but in the end...a mall.

Oh, it is a sad thing, but seemingly true. Work some magic, bar tender?

Don't like the bags - at all - but I can't stand Vera Bradley style and I think Dooney is overpriced. I do like the Harvey's line of bags, but I have 2 and that's enough.

Haven't tried the makeup and I probably won't, since all I use is foundation and bronzer.

I like the phone cases, but honestly, how many do you need?
Sure hope the TofT line is true and that it's well done. Love TofT.

Have gotten most of the Orange Bird line, but it's great for the kitchen. Actually, that's the best store in the co-op, the kitchen stuff.

I think Disney Springs does really need to appeal to locals as well as guests. Specialist restaurants and merchandise that you can't get anywhere else is exactly what is needed though

Agreed on both. There's not much in the way of entertainment (other than theme parks) for those of us who live on that side of Orlando. So it would be nice. But locals can't sustaining the whole thing, so they need something to bring in the tourists consistently too.

"safe for now" makes me nervous, but it was probably just the author's choice of words. I'll chain myself to TofT. ISunset Blvd is the only area I could see staying the same for the most part - but I'd be they'd even vamp that up.

Did they actually extend the contract with Aerosmith? I could see RnRC changing its themeing, but that rumor has been running for a long time.

Yeah, that's totally what I'm expecting as well. I think it's a shame. Since PI closed we have migrated to Jellyroll's when we have the opportunity for an evening out. We drop an easy $100 there in an evening, and I can tell from those around us that most are spending more than that. It certainly doesn't seem to have any lack of popularity.

I am never expecting a return of something as unique and special as the Adventurer's Club, but I just can't conceive why Disney seems to have nearly forsaken the adult nightlife at DTD/DS. (I'll give them that House of Blues occasionally has stuff.) The place is open until 1 AM, isn't it? Who the hell is hanging out down there to shop at 1 AM?

Disney Springs just seems like more of what's already there.

And OMG, Disney if you are going to sink all this money into DTD/DS, can you at least update DisneyQuest a teeny bit? That place feels like I went back in time 15 years, and not in a good way.

I agree. It makes no sense at all. It's a rainy day goldmine in need of serious updating.

If we're not going to see much boy's IP like Incredibles in the Parks (and Monsters) why not DisneyQuest?

My boys would be thrilled.....

I can't wait to see what DHS is going to look like. Universal had extremely too high expectations for diagon alley that why budgets have been cut. Interesting poll on the DIS showed that over 50% of people will be spending at least a day or more at universal during their next vacation. That definitely shows some disney diehards are switching and experiencing the other side.

Alot of these rides have been talked about and I hope we get them all, but I'm skeptical. I think they will be doing these in phases, with the first phase being some of the simple family friendly Pixar themed rides. And I still don't believe Radiator Racers is coming to Fl. Unless it is a very watered down cheaper version of the ride.

Here is a full run down of the spirited rumors and stuff likely to come our way.

1. Star Wars, Cars, Toy Story all coming to DHS
2. DHS is getting a new name
3. A DCA style budget has been approved for DHS
4. Construction starts just after the holidays
5. Major work will be underway come Easter time
6. Come 2019 the only for sure things to be left are ToT, TSMM, RnRc, and Star Tours
7. More entertainment is coming
8. Osborne lights most likely not back in 2015 at least in their current spot
9. Disney is taking the DVC approach and not announcing it yet
10. universal budgets have been slashed across the board because their unrealistically high expectations for diagon alley didn't come through
11. Kong is safe and construction is well underway
12. The new uni water park will still most likely happen but nearly be as good as it was supposed to be
13. HKDL is getting a new version of TSMM
14. Avatar will open in late 2017, rivers of light debuts in mid 2016

They have seemed to lean back towards park/hotel/ride specific stuff more lately.

I would buy some of that...the current generic crap, I buy nothing.

Cherry Pick Alert!!

Universal has done more while Disney has intentionally done less. Not really hard to debate right now. Universal has done massive reworking of their parks (granted they started with far less) and Disney did some refreshing of previously abandoned area and infrastructure for crowd control and retail sales.

Nobody is debating size or market share...just commenting that there has been some shift and the potential for SOME more is there.

As far as universal "boning" things...I don't think that's the case. They spent alot in a relatively short amount of time and some correction could be going on. Which is normal. There are also huge economic fears that result in travel industry fears - because it gets hit hardest and first.

But Disney knows this too... As they have been "market correcting" themselves since Chester and Hester opened (see? I can exaggerate too)

One of eisners strong points... He believed in adult fun...and also didnt require that everything feature a Disney plush giftshop for a 6 year old.

But merch is easy, lazy money...so they can't help themselves.

They just abandoned the concept and are only keeping it on life support until they unceremoniously get rid of it.

Such easy rainy day money and you gotta have rainy day things and it extends time in the big mall - drop the kids off -mom and dad shop/eat/drink....

Maybe they started the CBA but never got past the electric bill

I've never stepped foot in there not interested would rather be in the parks or at a resort

You, my friend, are the exception to the teenage rule - which is a very good thing. I agree - I'd rather be anywhere else.

We spend more time managing screen time expectations and mostly because of intense peer pressure. That's why we strict a straight rewards system

From a straight corporate perspective - serious lack of the average kid/teenager things to do

It seems like a no-brainer money-maker. So, either kill it or update it, you would think. It's prime real estate with infra already in place...

I agree if they did update it I may be interested but in its current state no thanks.
