A permit was filed for AKL room refurb ending July 2015

Also an interesting permit was filed for the Pop century that is only for two rooms being returned and it lasts until late 2015 as well.

Intercot is reporting that jack sparrows is closing and the hat is leaving at DHS. No confirmation yet.

The legend of jack sparrow does have an operating schedule until January 3rd, 2015.

Hearing more reports from sources that it is indeed leaving after the holiday season

If it were my decision, I'd get another attraction open before closing Jack Sparrow.

I've never stepped foot in there so I wouldn't mind it going away but if a major transformation of DHS is coming it makes sense.
It's terrible. No loss here. It really is sounding like the Studios are getting some love. Soon. So happy if it's really true.

Slightly disappointed from a "one more time" perspective. Also bringing an 8yo pirate fan in December. I agree that the attraction is not to be mourned, but with 3 closures, this is a significant attraction reduction at an already thin park.

Definitely looking forward to the future, but this makes it all the more frustrating that Midway Mania and RNR can't have FP+ on the same day.

The next couple of years will be a little tough for DHS, but if the park benefits half as much as DCA did after its overhaul, I think DHS' future is promissing and bright.

I do wonder what is Disney's plan for the next couple of years though. Disney doesn't build faster because they don't want to nor need to do so, but what if after all these changes they actually have to move faster? If DHS' numbers or general opinion get too low, they'll probably have to improvise and build something really quick to compensate for the lost attractions. Yeah, they weren't exactly popular attractions, but they still helped spread the crowds more evenly.

They know the park is already lacking experiences, so after seeing all the stuff they are removing, I'd like to think that they already have plans to deal with the decreasing number of attractions, and that they don't involve more hula hoop stations.

Maybe they will be OK with a stepped opening. Give the people something new each year as they slowly develop the entire plan. This would give everyone something to see each year. But, if the park is disrupted too much, this wouldn't work and your scenario would then be in play and they would have to work quickly.

Thats the best option for disney. DCA opened in sections so with so much closed and things being finished at different time it will have to be a phased opening much like disney springs. I would expect everything to be done around 2021.

I'm sure they'll do that. I really can't see them waiting until 2020/2021 to open the whole thing. I just think that it's strange that they are closing all these attractions one after the other in a very short time frame. And who knows what else is going to close in the next couple of months.

I know this isn't the way Disney usually works, but it would be quite nice to discover that they've been working on some sort of ''appetizer'' before we get the actual main course. I mean, if the rumors are true and DHS isn't getting anything new before 2018, I'm not sure if closing all these rides in 2014 is the best idea.

It's expected LMA will close as well because that is in that area. If construction started at the beginning of the year I could see something being open in 2017 because I'm sure there will be C and D probably even B ticket attractions part of this. DHS is in need of a lot more family type rides. With new fantasyland the storybook circus area was the first to open then belle, and LM, then finally the mine train.
