I can believe that with the new season of the force events. Also Kathy Kennedy does not like the crossover with Mickey and friends dressed like Star Wars characters.

Yeah i can see that. Plus a big part of Star wars weekends is the autographs but why would Disney who is going to create an immersive land with leaving, breathing characters from Star Wars then go and stick in the actors who plays them and spoil the illusion while probably not making that much money off them

well animation will be back open this December as Star Wars launch bay. I would say everything you mentioned is likely to be closed. You'll likely just miss the opening to frozen ride in Norway .

Thanks...that's what I thought I understood...and I couldn't give a rip about the Frozen thing...sick of it. It's going to be a very different trip for us in April! Hope they don't close anything else...FP+ will be a little tight without Soarin'...we'll manage though.

I would be very, very surprised that Star Wars weekends are going to end. It's a big ticket event for DHS. Pay attention to what was said at D23. They talked about extending SWW or something along those lines. I don't think you will see it end, they just may have some additional stuff at other times of year.

First off, the Star Wars land isn't actually open yet, but I could see them continuing with the star wars celebreties and autograph sessions in the "Hollywoodland" portion of the park, which Star Wars Land continues on business as usual. Again, it's an extra event that drives attendance, and sells a LOT of extra merchandise and tickets. People spend big bucks there. Why would you ever think Disney would choose to stop it? Especially since they've never SAID they are going to stop it.

I think they wanted to keep SWW originally, but if they are compressing construction, like @rteetz says, then the park may be too torn up to do the full SWW. Plus, Season of the Force will have a lot of the SWW elements, just probably not celebs (autographs or shows), and will start much sooner.

EDIT: Also, the majority of the people who get autographs are locals, so they don't stay at hotels or eat much food. A lot of them apparently are just resellers too, so they may not buy that just merch.

Season of the force will likely be the new Star Wars weekends

Actually the backlot still does have a lot of things there. Some things have been taken out but not everything. As of the August aerial photo update the outdoor props are still there. Star Wars is supposed to take out some parking but not a lot. Two parking garages are supposed to go in. I'd expect the parking garages to go one at a time like Disney springs.

Budget. Disney like most corporations is controlled by its accountants. Nothing happens until funds are released. From what I understand Disney's fiscal year starts in October. So even though the budget is approved, they won't have their hands on the money until October.

The props that are still back there can be moved out in less they a week. What I was talking about was all the offices and other stuff back there. Last I heard after D23 they were still far from clearing everything out. I agree demo of more permanent structures wouldn't start till a later fiscal quarter but certain things like prepping the trailer offices for moving and such could of been done.

Do you have a link to that picture? For some reason it's not working for me.
Unfortunately no. I got it from wdwmagic. I looked on Damouse website and couldn't find it so I don't know for sure where they got it from. I know the dis has been acting weird the last few days with pictures and stuff.
