No joke. That's pretty bad. That is our son's favorite ride. I guess we'll do Test Track at RD and then again with an FP+, if it's really closed either in March or June. Bummer. Test Track kind of blows and is boring compared to Radiator Springs Racers, or my daily commute for that matter:rolleyes2

Yeah not happy about that and BTMR being shut at the end of April. :(

With Maelstrom out until Frozen Ever After in May, and the general lack of anything much in the Innoventions centers, Epcot is going to look a lot like HS for a few months.

I'm glad Disney seems to be stepping it up at last, but a four year grind of everything getting full work-overs is simply the result of too many years of neglect. They're at risk of generating a lot of ill will here, specially with international visitors who plan vacations a year or more out, and the majority of park visitors who aren't watching the rumor sites. If they'd been plussing attractions, or hell, even just maintaining them properly, for the last decade, this wouldn't need to be.

Yeah OPTN is the only one reporting this at the moment. It's interesting because the digital upgrades to Soarin in California didn't take nearly that long so this would have to be third theater and queue related.

That sounds like a big queue extension. o_O

Any possibility they're rerouting the queue entirely? I almost wonder if with the switch to 'Soarin over the world' the ride would make more sense if presented as part of the Showcase.

Yes that is what I am thinking redoing the queue altogether.

Hopefully, we will be going in June and not March, but it all depends if Star Wars Weekends really happens next year. I think more stuff will be open in June, like Froway and BMTRR and maybe Rivers of Light and Soarin', if it closes. So much in flux.

I thought btmrr wasn't going to open until July :guilty:

Yeah the worrying thing is just how many attractions *haven't* been fixed up. An awful lot of attractions are going to be pulled, sometimes with not much notice between now and 2021.

Is there an updated list of the ETA for new attractions? Frozen, Avatarland, etc...?

I have read that too, but I am hoping it will open sooner.
Well it depends on how much work they plan on doing especially if they do the Disneyland upgrades. They aren't rebuilding the track like they did in DL but I think 4 months will be it and not sooner. Much like the Pirates refurb, don't get your hopes up for it opening earlier.

Speaking of pirates it's been said to keep an eye out for the end scene when it reopens. Otis of work has been done updating, replacing and fixing animatronics that didn't work. Pirates should be opening day type condition when it reopens.

That seems like useful yardstick by which to measure this sudden burst of park attention by the suits. Start the countdown when the ride reopens in glorious "everything actually works" condition, and wait for the first animatronic to get the disco yeti treatment.

Fortunately MK is now managed by Dan Cockrell who knows rides do need refurb a once in a while. Phil Holmes doesn't like refurbs at all.

I cant get over how Different it is going to be when i go to Disney Springs next September. I haven't been to DTD since 2010 and even back then there wasn't Splitsville ect So exciting.

What is the most efficient way of transporting to Disney Springs / Downtown Disney? Last January, we attempted going but traffic was a mess. I am thinking of taking a cab / UBER to Coronado Springs and walking or taking a boat from there.

Coronado Springs isn't that close to DTD, and there is certainly no boat from Coronado to get there (or anywhere for that matter). Perhaps you are thinking of Port Orleans?

Are you by car from off site? On site? Without knowing where you are coming from its a hard piece of advice to give.

While the construction is going on, there really is no easy way to get there. We stayed at POR this June to make it easy to get there but waited 40 minutes in the blazing sun for a boat. Pack your patience if you want to visit DTD.

I just stayed there in August and took the boat. Wasn't too bad for us, as we were eating in the dining hall and when we saw a boat come in we just go up and walked over. Definitely matters what time you are looking to go to DS.

IIRC the boat service is every 40 mins until 4 PM when it switches to every 20.
