Newbie trying to figure it all out - VGC??

True. We won't really need them until our booking window in July, thankfully. (And I still haven't settled on which days in June 2024 yet anyway.) But I feel like I can't get excited yet. Not until I KNOW we're officially DVC members.

And then you can be a big goober like my wife and I and buy Villas at the Grand Californian sweatshirts/tshirts on shopDisney! 😁

I think I'll need to get myself the mug! Or maybe the tote bag.
We really like the bag. Got one for CCV and VGC. Going to have to order one for AKV soon. We are sad they haven’t loaded any graphics to make a custom bag for Riviera…

Been a bit busy with work and catching up on some rest now that my last major 2022 project wrapped up so I’ve been not as active on the board for a few days. Congratulations on getting some VGC points. Welcome home neighbor.

I meant to ask this last week and forgot...

The agent sent an email with a couple attachments. One of the signed contract and the other was the deed but the deed attachment didn't work. I let him know and he said he'd like IT know. then he just sent over a picture of the front of the deed. Are there other pages of the deed that I should see beforehand? Or is just seeing the front okay? I guess I'm not sure what info I need from the deed exactly. I'm still unclear on all the legal stuff and paperwork with the whole process.

I haven't gotten an email yet. But I logged into my account at https://dvcsales.com/ And it says it's in the closing process. And 30 minutes ago it says that Disney is NOT buying the contract. WOOHOO!!!!!

Now I have no clue what happens next in the process so I guess we'll just wait and see....
You wait for title to send you closing docs and then you wire the money.

I got my ROFR email on 3/10 and still do not have closing docs, so that tells me that Mason Title is swamped with contracts and/or are still performing title searches.

So will I not get any emails from Mason at all before closing docs are ready? So far the only thing I've seen from them was a receipt of our deposit last week.

We just stayed in a regular room at the Grand Californian for the first time and loved it so now we're seriously talking about DVC and trying to figure everything out. It's all very confusing since I know almost nothing about it. So overwhelming.

I understand we can't get VGC direct (bummer) but can do resale. Realistically it may be another year before we can purchase who know knows what prices will be at the time.

'Nuff said.

Congratulations and Welcome Home! Here's hoping that DVC will be as good for your family as it has been for ours.

I'm bored and killing time before an appointment so I decided to sit down and figure out the timeline for our (probable) trips for 2024-2025. Obviously no official points chart to use for 2025 trips so I just used the 2024 ones instead. I really, REALLY hope I'm doing this right though.

Trips....
June 2024 - VGC - 6 nights - Studio - 128 pts. (Though there's a chance we might make it 7 nights for 148 pts but haven't decided yet.)
January 2025 - BCV (or maybe BRV?) - 7 nights - Studio - 107 pts.
December 2025 - VGC - 6 nights - 1 Bedroom Villa - 242 pts.

We're working with 160 pts, Use Year = June.

--We'll get our 2023 points in June. We will bank ALL points into 2024.
--In July this year, we will use 128 of our banked points to book June 2024 trip.
--In June 2024, we will use the remainder of our banked points, plus 75 points from 2024 to book January 2025 at BCV.
--Bank the remaining 85 points into 2025.
--January 2025, use the 85 banked points plus almost all of our 2025 points for December 2025 trip. (We will be left with possibly 2 points that can be banked into 2026.)

If we decide to do 7 nights in June 2024, I think it works out that we'd end up needing to borrow some points from 2026 to use for that December trip.

Soooo....if anyone is super bored, can you tell me if I did that right?? I really hope I'm not missing something obvious about how this needs to be done.

Another question - Does booking need to be done on a computer or can you do it from your phone? Looking at the dates...there's a chance we'll be on our drive home in June 2024 when I think I'd need to book our January 2025 WDW trip.

And another - I know once you bank points, that's where they stay. But can you bank some points and then later in the use year bank more, if you end up not needing them?

And yet another - What if we have to cancel a trip more than 31 days before/before banking window ends and then we know we won't be able to make a trip that UY....can we cancel a reservation and then bank those points into the following year?

BCV or BRV studio? I wish you luck.

January 2025 at BCV
Yea, this might be wishful thinking, at least have a back up plan or two. I think getting BCV any time of year at 7months is tough.

Your math seems right. I'll just add my two cents.

WRT banking. I always found it useful to not bank your points until you haveto. I'm not saying you shouldn't bank until the day of the banking deadline date. But hold it off as long as you can because the transaction is final, and you never know if your plans change and you end up wanting to use those points earlier than anticipated. If that happens, you'll end up borrowing from the next year. It also prevents you from making multiple banking transactions, which is possible. Just remember. Banking or borrowing is FINAL! You never fully grasp that concept until you realize you shouldn't have.

BCV Studios will be IMPOSSIBLE to book at 7 months. I'd strongly recommend looking at BWV pool garden view studio or another resort with better availability.

You can book using your browser on your phone.

If you cancel before the 31 days, then yes, you may bank those points into the next year, given you have not passed your banking deadline date, which is why it's so critical to have the right UY.

Which resorts have studios that won't be hard to get 7-months out (for the very end of January...avoiding MLK weekend)?

We like the idea of walking to Epcot (our favorite park) which is the main reason BC is at the top of our list. But we like the theming and look of the villas at WL.

Yeah, I think we'd wait to bank until we're sure we wouldn't be able to use the points. Which I feel like for VGC, we should know pretty easily since you have to book so far in advance (or not go at all that year.) Though for our June 2024 trip we'll basically need to bank almost right away to make our booking in July. I really can't see us going before June 2024...partly because I know studio availability would be hard before then anyway.
