We signed up this week and are waiting for the Fedex package to arrive. I started reading these boards and now have a question. Our home resort is Saratoga so that means we can make reservations for 11 months out approximately but if we want for example Old Key West we must wait 7 months? Please correct me if this is wrong. How hard is it to get another resort lets say Dec15-23 or Aug16-31? Does it matter whether it is a studio, 1 bedroom, or 2 bedroom? Any help would be much appreciated. Reading these postings have been a big help. :earsboy:

I can't answer your question about how easy it is to get bookings but I can tell you that you can book non-home resorts 7 months before check-out day.

We have only done that twice - once at Vero Beach when we booked OKW (home resort) at 11 months and then changed it once we got to 7 months - and once at Hilton Head when we were booking out of high season.

Thanks for the help. Also if I wanted to book rooms at Disneyland can I do that a year in advance or how does that work?
Generally, the non-DVC resorts (including DLH & GC) can be booked 11 months prior to check out.

Getting a reservation at the WDW DVC resorts for anytime in December can be difficult at the 7 month mark. VWL, BCV & BWV are the more difficult to book during this time (they are smaller than OKW & SSR). You'll need to call day by day as soon as MS opens to be sure of getting what you want. You may have to use the waitlist for some or all of your days, but at least so far, most (IMHO) who use that method get their reservation.

The second half of August isn't nearly so difficult to get at the 7 month mark. It's still a good idea to book as soon as you can, though - especially if you want BCV. That pool makes the BCV a popular choice in the summertime.

Studios seem to book more quickly than the larger accomodations.

Best wishes -

It really depends on the time/season you want to go. Sometimes DVC busy times are busier than park busy times. Early Dec. is very popular because the points are low and the resort is decorated for and has events for Christmas. Trying to get an Epcot resort, BWV or BCV, during the F&W Festival is tough at 7 months. Not impossible, but tough.

Probably the best recommendation I received from this board is to book your home resort at 11 months. That way you're guaranteed a place to stay for your visit. Then at 7 months call and try to change it to the resort you really want. If it doesn't work out, the worse case scenario is a vacation at SSR. That's not too hard to take.

Got VWL at the 7 months for May with no problems.
