Canada. Stay on the Canadian Side. Better Hotels, more shopping, resturants, etc. Casino! Plus their side of the falls has a better view.

I stayed at a Holiday Inn about 3 miles from the falls (i think. It was across the street from an outlet shopping center) Of course, you can stay right there and have a view of the falls, but i wasn't paying that much! lol.

As a side note, I went in January. :rotfl2: it was cold, and there were things that were closed for the season (obviously) Maid of the Mist wasn't operating (ferry ride down to the falls) and the mist rose up out of the falls and froze. On everything. it was very pretty, but impossible to navagiate, so i never made it near a railing.

Also, i think that we now require passports (or at least those ID cards) to get into Canada.

We spent 4 days there. which, in January, was plenty. 1 week I think would be enough.
Thanks - I already know so much more!!:thumbsup2

Stay in Canada... Been to both for Hockey and the american side is kinda shady if you ask me.. We went in the winter as well but we stayed at the Hilton that over looked the falls.. (we booked the days inn and they had a watermain break so had to put us up there) There is lots to do downtown. There is a rainforest and a hard rock. (actually 2) Toronto is not far. Plan to go there too! If your gonna go might as well do it up good. Niagara you can do in one day IMO.. Toronto has lots of stuff to do. As of right now you still only need a drivers license and birth certs for the kids. They are trying to make it that the connecting states have labeled drivers license so we won't need pass ports. Its been put off till June as of right now!
Lucky about the Hilton!!:thumbsup2 I hope we wont need passports by summer - lordy, guess I'd better look into getting some passports - because I dont have enough to do right now....:sad2: Maybe we'll stay on this side just for that reason.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

Happy St Patrick's Day, all! Meagan is feeling completely better and she had a great birthday, she still thinks the best gift was the ...umm.... "grownup" undergarments... from me. :lmao:

VA, I agree with everyone else, the Canada side has the best views without a doubt, and I wouldn't think any more than 2 days at most would be needed for the falls, but Toronto would be fun, and if you are driving you'll be cutting right through NY, so I am sure you can get in all kinds of trouble in state...:rotfl:

Hey, my Northern connections. We Bears are kind of considering a summer vacation that includes a visit to Niagra Falls - none of us have ever seen them. Is there one 'main' place to see them? Is there one 'best' hotel to stay in (with, say, the very best views - well, unless its a 5 diamond place.) I know nothing and dont even know where to start really (Googled some hotels that look nice - but want to be where the action is, etc....:confused3 ) I dont want to be the guy staying Off-site instead of Pop!:lmao:

Is it better to see them from our side or THEIR side (just kdding Jacquline :goodvibes - you're one of US too!) How Long do people usually dedicate to seeing the Falls? Is one enough? Two? Any cool stuff near there we should know about?

ThankS!:goodvibes

I have been to the Falls once, but did not stay there. It was a side trip when we were in Buffalo for a graduation. I can tell you the place to go is to Jacqueline's side of the falls. You may need a passport to go there now tho. A day is plenty of thime to see the falls, you should definitely take a boat ride on "the maid of the mist".

Hppy St. Patrick's Day, one and all. We had a blast in kindergarten. I am wearing green from head to toe (note to self: need a green "adult undergarment" to go with everything else). The leprechauns trashed our classroom, but we got back at them when we scared them away from the playground and took all of their gold!

St. Patrick's Day joke:

Eileen has to go take care of her sister for one night, so she is leaving her husband Mike home alone. "Mike," she says, "I have to go care for me sister. Don't you be sneakin' down to the pub while I'm gone. If you do, I'll find out, and there'll be the devil to pay."
"I wouldn't dream of it, darlin," says Mike, "I'll just stay here in bed and read a good book." So off Eileen goes.
As soon as she's gone, Mike heads to the pub and has several Guinnesses with his friend Pat. When he sees it's the wee hours, he decides to head home before Eileen gets back and finds out. He stumbles to the door and falls down the front step and onto a parked car. He pulls himself up on the car and drags himself back to the sidewalk. He crawls to the fence, pulls himself up, and clings to the fence the rest of the block until he finds his own front door. He lets go of the fence and falls again, barely able to crawl up his own porch and drag himself into the house and into bed.
A few hours later Eileen comes home and walks into the bedroom. "Michael Terence O'Malley, you've been to the pub," she booms. "And don't try to deny it!"
"How did you know?" asks Mike.

"Your friend Pat was out sweeping the porch of the pub as I was just coming down the street, and he asked me to tell you that you left your wheelchair there last night!":rotfl:

:rotfl: That is so cute. martina and her frieind at pre-school left pictures for the Leprechauns Mon. night. When they came in yesterday, there were little green leprechaun footprints EVERYWHERE, in the classroom, in the hall, even in the bathroom. They trashed their classroom too, everything was in the wrong place. They even left a note and thanked Martina and her friend for the pictures...said they were going to show them to their parents. Ir was so cute!!!
