Thanks - I already know so much more!!Canada. Stay on the Canadian Side. Better Hotels, more shopping, resturants, etc. Casino! Plus their side of the falls has a better view.
I stayed at a Holiday Inn about 3 miles from the falls (i think. It was across the street from an outlet shopping center) Of course, you can stay right there and have a view of the falls, but i wasn't paying that much! lol.
As a side note, I went in January.it was cold, and there were things that were closed for the season (obviously) Maid of the Mist wasn't operating (ferry ride down to the falls) and the mist rose up out of the falls and froze. On everything. it was very pretty, but impossible to navagiate, so i never made it near a railing.
Also, i think that we now require passports (or at least those ID cards) to get into Canada.
We spent 4 days there. which, in January, was plenty. 1 week I think would be enough.

Lucky about the Hilton!!Stay in Canada... Been to both for Hockey and the american side is kinda shady if you ask me.. We went in the winter as well but we stayed at the Hilton that over looked the falls.. (we booked the days inn and they had a watermain break so had to put us up there) There is lots to do downtown. There is a rainforest and a hard rock. (actually 2) Toronto is not far. Plan to go there too! If your gonna go might as well do it up good. Niagara you can do in one day IMO.. Toronto has lots of stuff to do. As of right now you still only need a drivers license and birth certs for the kids. They are trying to make it that the connecting states have labeled drivers license so we won't need pass ports. Its been put off till June as of right now!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!
