New Pirate Game Win Ship!

Grrr! Figures that my "new" computer at work would be just as bad as my computer at home.

It has loads of memory, but a slow processor.

Guess I won't be winning anymore at level 3. :sad2:

Until today, I found level three to be the easiest. Level two is generally the most difficult for me.

One move that has saved me maybe a gazillion times is backing away from the monster. If you press "S" enough, your ship will go in reverse, just like the Ned game.

I prefer to go after the idols in the same order every time but I let the monster determine my course. If he appears in front of me, I go to a different idol first. If he appears in my planned path, I take a longer path to the next idol. I may have to go around an island a couple of times but at least I live to get the code. Another big tip is to not stay in once place. If you hit an idol and can't go forward right away, then go backward for a while just to get away from that spot. You can turn your ship around after the monster appears again. Patience is a big help. Sometimes it's just better to go forward but at only one or two arrows worth of speed.

Oh, I found a bug that made level three super easy. Unfortunately I haven't been able to repeat it. I went to the bottom right idol first then to the bottom left idol. The monster appeared in the lowest left part of the screen. I shot him but he never went away, instead he apparently was stuck in that spot. I couldn't make my ship go forward but I could steer it so I just let it drift backward to the next idol. That took a while but there was no monster so I didn't care. I think I was able to go forward again after I hit that third idol. The monster never showed up again. So, there is some hope that you may encounter this bug and not have to deal with the monster.

Okay... I've gotten two "ships". Not full ships. But I've beaten the game twice.

Cannot for the life of me beat the 3rd Level again. Here is the closest I got.

Notice the number of Tikis I have gotten and the number of Tikis I have left.

Whoever programmed the Kraken really did a good job: it is the hardest, most cruel programmed character I've ever come up against. Now... if only the Pirates of the Caribbean Computers could actually do something.

Then again, this Kraken is much like the movie one: able to come up anywhere.
Mine was even closer. :(

Oh, I bet the flies on your walls heard some pretty colorful language! :rotfl2: That exact thing happened to me too and I'm surprised VMK Staff didn't ban me for what I said to that monster. It was worse than what you hear on HBO on Sunday night! I know they heard me because I was LOUD!

Those darn sea monsters! Ok, I was able to get thru it twice and have yet to check out what parts I won.

My HINT for 3rd level is to steer you ship so you are turning as you just hit it... and KEEP turning.. if you aim it right you back into the island and have it propel you forward!! Also if you can draw in a cracken (SP?) and kill/chase off just before hitting the island helps too.

Good luck to all!
