New Magic Kingdom Welcome Show & Main Street Opening UPDATE: Page 15 - Post #281

Um, last I checked, a PPO ADR guaranteed you a way to eat breakfast without wasting park time. The emptyish Main Street and early access to rides was a lucky by-product, but not anything Disney was guaranteeing guests.

I never said Disney guarantee anything it is still annoying.

I guess more than anything it may well by why they didn't even consider it to be something that would annoy their guests. Not that it would have stopped them from making the change, just that they didn't foresee it being an issue. Maybe they can adjust so they give a full 15 min before letting in the non PPO ADR folks?

I totally agree that they don't even care. I think the problem is that before the people with PPO ADRs check in and where let in they didn't hold them and release them all at once. So there was a fluid stream but fewer people. Now they release them all at once and really don't give much time in between. I think 15-20 min window will be much better.

I think this will change the amount of ADRs they see PPO for sure specially for BOG since now they are offering CS breakfast for a quarter of the price and really pretty much taking away the advantages of getting to rides much faster and an empty park. I know for us this upcoming trip will the last PPO reservation we will make if nothing changes.

Yup, we cancelled our PPO BoG for late January. I hope someone got a pleasant surprise when they were able to get the reservation. And we'll save that $100. (Who are we kidding, we'll almost certainly spend it on something else in WDW, so Disney will still get the money...)

By the way if it guarantee me a way to eat breakfast without wasting park time well that is gone away as well since now I can enter the MK an hour early eat breakfast and still don't waste park time so all the advantages of having a PPO are gone.

I would have cancel ours but the only reason we are taking this trip is to take DH god daughter(5) on her first Disney trip and she of course is a princess fan so going in BOG was a must. Since I made ADRs 180 days in advance I know I won't be able to get another BOG reservation for 6 now that we have less than 60 days for lunch and the other MK day we have reservations for CRT so we are stuck with what we have.

But something tells me that BOG adr PPO won't be in demand anymore...

And to us this is a benefit/bonus of the change. While we are ok with the offerings at Casey's (not so much at The Plaza) we prefer being seated at a table vs. having to stand around and eat (seating at Casey's is very limited) so if it means we actually can get an ADR so we can actually go eat, then yay.

I hate eating standing but I that has never been a problem in Disney. There is a bunch of tables in front of the plaza and very nice hub grass spots I don't think that finding a table is going to be a problem most of the year perhaps on very busy holidays but that is about it.

Thanks!

We will catch the welcome show another morning, so it's not a big deal.

And that is our morning to do Adventure land and Frontier land, so I'm glad I actually planned something right! :jester:

You still may be able to catch the morning show. Pending how busy CP is, the cast members inside sometimes don't mind if you go out and watch the show. You may get a good view from the porch of CP. We were eating at CP for a late lunch a few years ago and a great CM we had told my kids they could go watch the parade if it was okay with Mom and Dad. So ask, they may say go ahead and let you see the show. It's a short one anyway.

@Missyrose Still I don't see where I mention it was a guarantee. I have the right to be annoyed when I have to wake up early 180 in advance to secure a reservation that would allow us to walk up Main Street without being pushed by the crowd and take a few pictures and then things get changed under 60 days to go. People make PPO ADR mainly for 3 reasons
Get pictures with an empty park
Have an advantage on ride lines
Save touring time

All these are gone now.

So yeah for me this time the whole point was to get pictures of my DH god daughter first time seeing the castle and the MK without a crowd. I never said that Disney guarantee me that but when I have to make reservations that far in advance I would at least like for of a heads up. So yeah it is annoying.

There was plenty of tables available, both inside and outside of caseys in the morning, also in front of the Plaza

Did you see the pictures? What crowd?
And no, those are not the 3 main reasons to make a PPO ADR. The main reason is to eat. Those are bonuses but not main reasons. And if they are, they are the wrong reason.

you can see the CM holding the sign to tell people with PPO to make a left

That's good to know. DH wants that hot dog. We have the worst luck trying to eat at Casey's. To the point that I end up near to tears with all the guests that sit there without eating and we are walking around with trays full of food and no where to eat them. I hate table savers but hate table hoarders more (those who are sitting without eating at all)

Yeah I saw the pictures this is a much busier Main Street I had in my past trips when I had PPO ADR. Main Street in nov trip MS had 3 people on it. The hub was completely empty.

I am sorry but I don't think people main reason to make PPO ADR is to eat the mediocre overprice food. Most thread about PPO ADR ask about pictures and getting to rides before the crowd. If those "advantages" wouldn't be there this wouldn't be hard to get ADR. We already saw PP that cancel their ADR because those "advantages" are gone. Also reading other threads people are finding PPO BOG ADR now because people are cancelling if it was mainly because they made the reservation to eat they will be keeping those ADRs which is not the case.

Ok, I've had tons of PPO ADR and never seen 3 people. BOG is sold out and holds A LOT of guests. I can't believe you entered with 3 guests for a sold out BOG. But whatever. I'm glad that we can get an ADR for food. Shocking as it sounds.

Still, you gotta admit, that "crowd" wouldn't be pushing you anywhere.

Sorry I just looked at the picture it had 6 people on it instead of 3. I agree that the crowd won't be pushing me anywhere but I am sure it got way more crowded quickly there is just much more people in the park at that time with the changes.

Edit: I never experienced much more people than this at a PPO adr what the exception of our December trip but our ADR was much closer to park opening.

Regardless of the PPO debate or not I think the thing we have to keep in mind is that it's only a few days into it. We're also talking about Jan on a non-holiday week when the pics were taken. I absolutely love that we have pics to go off of and hopefully more people will be able to take them and post them here as the year progresses.

Truly only time will tell.

Will it be more busy as more time goes on?
Will it be crazy busy during holiday weeks, summertime, Sep/October (when you've got MNSSHP and F&W festivals bringing in people to WDW), November/December (when you've got MVMCP)?
Will it alter people's plan when they know MK will close early for party guests thus they will push themselves to get there earlier if they know they can mill about Main St or no impact to people's plans?
Will it overall be no worse than it was before?
Will it be better than it was before as far as ride times and spreading out of crowds?
Will there be an impact to morning EMH guests especially if not getting there right when EMH starts?

I am by no means taking a negative or postive outlook on this but I'm also being realistic that in this particular thing time is what will help us understand how it overall impacts things given the ebbs and flows to WDW crowds and their patterns.
