New Magic Kingdom Welcome Show & Main Street Opening UPDATE: Page 15 - Post #281

So, I'm confused, if I wanted to walk straight through the castle (towards Pan or the Carousel) immediately following the morning show, is that blocked off? Do I have to go to the side routes in either Liberty Sq or the Tea Cups, or can I just walk straight through the castle?

It's been reported that the walkway through the Castle is opened as soon as all the characters leave the stage. You can choose to walk in that direction.

We were discussing this on the SDFP thread....would be great if they were.
@marciemi has confirmed in other threads that the FP kiosks are available when guests are allowed in the park because City Hall is open. She has noted that the only time a City Hall kiosk may be covered is when it is not operating correctly.

So does anyone that has had a CRT or BOG PPO ressie since the change reported on whether or not they are still held behind the castle and allowed to go ride 7DMT a few min before rope droppers get there or is this no longer an extra perk?

Yes, someone has reported since the change. It's here in this thread but maybe several pages back now. If memory serves me right, they got on in time to ride 7D once

Found it
We had a PPO reservation for BoG this morning - here's how it went.

When we checked in at the front of the park, we were given a piece of paper with a map of Main Street/Fantasyland on it and location indicators for BoG, CRT, and our second check-in point (to the left of the castle). We were let in with everyone else in line (incl. EMM) at 7:45 on the dot. We had originally planned on heading straight to BoG, but we noticed that the area in front of the castle was pretty much empty and the PP photographer closest to the castle only had one group in line. Everyone else had either stayed back on Main Street or gone ahead to breakfast.

After getting some pictures, we headed to the left and a CM checked our breakfast paper. BoG was pretty empty the whole time we were there, as opposed to how packed it was on the same Tuesday last year at the same time. At about 8:35, we went to 7DMT where there was a short line along the fence before you make the right turn to the ride (there was a CM there to hold people back).

We heard two announcements for the castle show ("in just five minutes" and "in just a few minutes") and at 8:45, they let us in to the 7DMT standby queue. By the time we got off, everyone else had already been let in and the line was long, as expected.

I don't think the new morning show affected our PPO "perks" in any way. If anything, the park felt less busy because everyone dispersed quickly.

I think some of these questions have been answered already but I don't want to miss anyone

Hey so we are going next month just for one day with my one year old. If I went straight to Peter pan you think there probably wouldn't be much of a wait?
I waited 15 minutes for PP after meeting Cinderella and Elena

@yulilin3 So if I plan to hit PP on an EMH morning, I will have to line up on the right with the 7DMT crowd going into Fantasyland, according to what you were told? Ugh....not sure I like that. Wondering if hanging back a bit might be okay since we will not be headed to 7D. Hmmm....

Thanks so much for gathering all that info!

Thinking out loud here: wondering if arriving by 7:30 will be early enough to get ahead of non-resort guests to get through the tapstyles and when they will allow the EMH guests through the tapstyles.
It seems like, from conversations with managers and CM today, that they will use the left side by the Liberty Square bridge for people with dinning reservations and the right side for people going in during EMH. But it can all change since Friday will be the first EMH and they will assess the situation and make changes if neccesary
People with PPO and Tours were let in today at 7:50am and everyone else at 7:55am. I would plan on being at the entrance no later than 7:40am

I was talking regular rope drop, not EMH.

Typically I will cut through liberty Square to get to Pan first thing.
Regular drop off, yes, you can tale the Liberty Square bridge

The Castle is open to walk through as soon as rope drops at 9am

@yulilin3 Any chance that you know if the FP kiosks is town hall were open at 8am?
I didn't go inside but the actual city hall was open so I think they should be as well

I don't know if it's because of the new show or not, but after watching the new show and reading about it, I changed my BOG ADR in May from 9:30 (so I could see the old opening show) to an 8:25 ADR. I was surprised I was able to get the earlier ADR, but there's another one available for 8:35 the same day. My crazy question is if I was able to get an earlier ADR (closer to 8) and finished eating, would I be able to get back to the front of the castle to watch the show?

Here are the pictures:

For the security issues, I really don't think they will ever go back to the train welcome show. However, it seems that this new show may have been put together in a rush. There was VERY little public notice that the train welcome show was being retired, and a new show taking its place. While the train refurb was known for awhile, there was no notice that the welcome show would go on, just without the train.

I think that they made a determination that the old welcome show and rope drop procedures was a security issue, and thus made the change ASAP for safety, and thus put together a new welcome show quickly as a result.

Therefore, it is highly likely that we will see changes to the new welcome show. While dialog can be written quickly, music and choreography can take a bit longer to work out. I expect we'll see music and dancing added in the coming months.

I'm sure you're right. The security issues probably are a big part of it. Honestly, the worst thing of going to any amusement park anymore is dealing with security. It is so sad that we are at a point where we have to worry about the things that we worry about. But it is definitely better to be safe. I hope they make changes to it. You are totally right about how long it can take to do music and choreography. I guess I just figured they could have used some of the stuff from the train show and just left out the train itself. That said, maybe they will do something phenomenal.

Wondering this as well if anyone knows...

When you are done eating you can go wherever you want. If you have time, you can make it to the welcome show there's nothing restricting you from coming back to Main Street
