New Magic Kingdom Welcome Show & Main Street Opening UPDATE: Page 15 - Post #281

Now that people are allowed on Main Street before opening, has the caused the lines for Talking Mickey to form earlier? We have a 9:30 BBB appt and we were hoping to hit Mickey and maybe even Tink as soon as we got into the park but now I am wondering if those lines form before the park even opens.

Can anyone confirm whether or not Main Street eateries will be open before EMH lets guests in? For example, Friday EMH opens at 8. Am I going to be able to grab a croissant doughnut at 7:30?

I seriously doubt it, I went to Exposition Hall around 8:30am and there was no one waiting for any of the characters.
Plus at around 8:50am an announcement is made to gather at the castle stage for the welcome show so I bet everyone just naturally goes there, plus the whole bunch of people wanting to hit 7DMT and SM first thing

EMH is from 8-9. No one is let in before 7:45am, at 7:45am the people will PPO and tour reservations are let in, maybe also EMH guests.

I'm sorry, bear with me...

Regular park opening at 9 - Main Street is open at 8 for everyone?

Regular park opening at 9 and EMH at 8 - Main street is open at 8 for everyone, but those eligible for EMH may proceed on to the rest of park?

Correct, through the fantasyland and tomorrowland bridges, cm will have scanners to check you are staying at Disney

This is exactly the level of detail I had hoped for! Many, many thanks for your help!

Happy to help!

Attaching a picture of the paper that I was given when I checked in to my PPO reservation. There was nothing on it that indicated the date it was "used."

Edit: Just kidding, I just noticed the 0117 on it. The check-in cast member barely glanced at our paper though. I took it out of my bag when I was about 10 feet away from her and she just waved us through.

They may not look closely ever but seeing how it was what, the first or second day, I'd guess they assumed anyone who got one of those papers were legit.

Is it me or is that donut sundae missing its milk chocolate mickey ears?

The cronuts look interesting. I assume you get 3 for a snack credit?

We'll be there with regular DDP and I was thinking of using snack credits for breakfast on Main Street. Between Starbucks and Caseys, we should have a decent array of food.

you are correct. I only noticed it when I was talking about it. I was reading the menu to my DD16 after school yesterday and then I was like "hey my Mickey ears" not that it needed more chocolate

Those pictures are so helpful, @yulilin3! Thanks for taking the time to post all of this!

That picture of the Doughnut Sundae with the castle behind it is particularly wonderful and makes me want to be there RIGHT NOW!

Yes! Thank you so much, yulilin3, for your efforts! Are you on the payroll yet?

And that picture is amazing! That sundae looks exactly like I imagine a sundae at WDW would be like: over the top, indulgent, memorable! The castle in the background is perfect. I can't wait for our trip! 14 days!!

I have a PPO ADR for Crystal Palace on one of my MK days. Can anyone tell me how this will work in relation to Main Street and the welcome show?

I don't really care about beating everyone to the rides. I'll just enjoy getting to eat without taking up park time.

(Sorry...never been before so I'm not exactly sure where Crystal Palace is.)

Crystal Palace is just off the main hub area. For your plans, it will be fine. You probably wouldn't get done in time to see the show, maybe, if all the stars aligned right but if that is your goal, you may want to reconsider. The smartest destination to head to following a meal at CP is Adventure Land/Liberty Square, or even FL via path beside the castle from Liberty Square. I'd want to avoid going to Tomorrow Land.

Thanks!

We will catch the welcome show another morning, so it's not a big deal.

And that is our morning to do Adventure land and Frontier land, so I'm glad I actually planned something right! :jester:

That sundae does look quite *magical* - but I would need a nap afterwards! 14 days - definitely countdown mode!

Ugh this is annoying. The whole point of making PPO reservations was to have an empty Main Street all those shoots look way more crowded that my Nov stay.

Um, last I checked, a PPO ADR guaranteed you a way to eat breakfast without wasting park time. The emptyish Main Street and early access to rides was a lucky by-product, but not anything Disney was guaranteeing guests.
