New here. Disney trip is 30 days and counting!

Our Disney trip is all planned, except for still having to purchase the park hopper tickets. We were actually supposed to be there right now, but my husband got called away out of state to work and we had to reschedule. We fly down on Dec 7. I am excited and so are my 2 girls!(ages 10 and almost 8).

I guess I need some tips. My main question is what should I take to wear in December? I live in Pennsylvania. Is it really cold in Orlando in December? I plan on getting the weather report prior to our trip, but want to take whatever clothes we will need.

Now that the trip is very near, I am going to be reading these boards constantly now. I did pick up some good tips already and plan on using them! Thank you!

First off welcome to the Dis!
You are going to love Disney in Dec. All of the decorations are great and did you purchase tickets to MVMCP? highly recommened.

As for what to pack, it is usally very comfortable in Florida in Dec.
never as cold as here in PA. Last year i wore shorts, but I do recommened a couple of pants, just in case you get cold, especially for the girls. A light jacket for night time might be a good idea, but again it is never as cold as PA. Also don't forget rain ponchos, they are much easier to carry than an umbrella, and a lot of people recommened getting the ones from your local dollar store. They say you usally get 2 for a dollar and if you buy enough for the entire trip, you can just throw them away after use.

Is this your first trip to Disney? I went in November before and it was nice in the day but very cool (sweatshirt cool) in the evening. I just got back and there were some nights (one or two) that I had to wear a sweatshirt.

If you have any other questions, please ask, there is a lot of people here willing to help.

Oh, if you are buying regular park hopper passes, it's cheaper to purchase them in advance from the Disney Store. They have 4 & 5 day along with 5, 6, & 7 day plus.

The rain ponchos are a good idea. I will look around at the dollar stores and see if I can find any. Pooh, the MVMCP...do you mean the Merry Christmas celebration? If so, we are looking into getting those tickets for one of the nights while we visit. It sounds like it would be fun. We've decided to skip character dining since my girls are a little older but I am sure that there is a lot more to see.

Lori, this will be my second visit to WDW. I went when I was 13, over 20 years ago now. Epcot wasn't even there yet and all that we did was see WDW and spend a day at one of the water parks. I think there was only one water park then and I wish I could remember what the name of it was. I have a friend that works as a manager of the Disney Stores. I do plan on buying them in the store. Maybe she'll give me a discount. lol. I'm not going to count on that but it would be a bonus. I have another friend who works for the airlines and when we had to reschdule our trip, she waived the $100 per ticket change in flight fee. That was a big help.

Plan for layers!! It is quite chilly in the morning, then warms up a little and gets cold again in the evening.

I brought Cuddleduds (thin silky layer undershirt) for morning/evening colder times, long sleeve shirts, fleece jacket from Old NAvy (nothing heavy at all), and our Nylon rain jackets..which really help keep you warm since it's synthetic. We bought the fluffy Mickey Santa Hats and wore them every evening and that really helped. I wore jeans every day and that's what I saw most people wearing. We did see a few people in shorts (this was last year) but maybe being from up north it's easier for you coming from colder weather to Florida.

Averages are 50's-70's

First of all, I would not skip the character dining!!!! check out wdwig.com. TONS of info on all you need to know about the Christmas festivitites, dining menus, resort photos, etc. Are you staying onsite? I highly recommend it.

the weather can be iffy. If a cold front comes in, it could get down to the 30's and 40's (in the daytime!) Bring swimsuits AND coats!
