New free dining offer yeaaah

Ok we have ressies oct 1 to 8 with dining...
Do we have to change our plans to the 2nd thru 8th?

No, but since your check-in date needs to fall within the dates of the promo, you'd have to make one reservation for Oct 1st (room-only) and then another from Oct 2nd to 8th (a package with room + tickets). In this way, you'd check in (for the second time) on Oct 2nd and thereby qualify for FD.

How bout our dining reservations, how hard will it b to get in to anything? Will we loose all our previously made dining ressies?

You will not lose your reservations. They are not affected by changes to your resort reservation/package.

Sorry from the uk so not sure how booking with disney usa works, i pay a deposit but when is the balance due?

Also how much is it to upgrade to regular dining from the counter service if we book pop century?

Thanks, hoping for a trip in nov as its been a tough year

The balance is due 45 days before your trip. If you book within 45 days, it's due in full at that time.

Upgrading is the difference cost in plans, per person, per night. For example a 5 night stay for 4 people would be $220.

1. Just call and have them add the FD code to your existing reservations and your parents reservation. You do not have to rebook anything and your reservation number will stay the same.

We booked using a pin, so I can't just call and add FD because you can't combine discounts. Will they be able to switch the discount from a room discount to FD?

Yes, they will switch discounts from a room discount to FD. They will remove your PIN code and apply the FD code.:goodvibes

I see a lot of people saying that they are going to call first thing on Wednesday morning asking for the new free dining code/ deal...my question is, do you have to call or can you also book it online? I've never called to book our ressie's,always have done it online and still got the free dining since I was booking in the timeline of the correct dates...anybody have any calcification on this? Thanks

OK, I know its tough to read through everyone's "OMG, what do I do" situations, but I'll try anyway.

FD is 12/11-12/17; We want to stay 7days/6nights

We have a wedding on 12/17 we can't miss

Soo...I'm thinking check in on 12/10 and purchase a 7 day ticket.

Check out/re-check in on 12/11 on separate reservation w/ FD

Question: Can they apply the FD on the existing tickets I purchased before?

If not, what other options do I have oh wise Dis'ers?

NYRFan, I think you need to do a room only ressie for the first night and your tickets, dinning etc. for the 11th and on. You need to buy at least a 2 day ticket to get the FD.

O forgot the previously purchased tickets. Do you mean park tickets? From what I've read you can't factor in previously purchased tickets.

It seems pretty strange that people have recently received PINS for dates in November that are blacked out in the rumor.

Does anyone have thoughts on why this would be? They have rooms to fill between Nov 5th and the 13th or they don't. Seems a bit odd to me.

Yeah they might have less rooms to fill during that time but still seams weird.

I don't find it strange at all, since as you pointed out, it's just a matter of degree and just how many rooms they intend to fill at a sale price.

I just find the whole PIN code thing annoying though since I never get one, no matter what I do.

At least right now it's only mildly annoying since they have continued with decent general public offerings. I DO think they are trying hard to start backing off of the GP offerings though, and THAT is when the PIN codes will REALLY tick me off.

Free dining is not tied to your tickets. It is tied to the nights you stay on a package.

In your case, you would have to do room only on the 10th with no dining plan. Then book your package, including tickets (or however many days you want--they don't have to match nights of stay but need to be at least 2 days tickets per the rumor), starting on the 11th. You would then go to guest services on the 10th and ask that you get an early pick up of the tickets from your package.

You then can use them on the 10th. Your dining credits would not start until the package on the 11th, but it is a way to get the plan.

The only glitch with this is that they CAN ask you to move rooms. Most seem to have good luck in linking the reservations and being allowed to stay in the same room, though.

You can book it online. For those who already have a reservation, they have to call to apply the discount but if it's for a new ressie it will most likely be alot less stressful to just book online:goodvibes

Wow, this is good news for you guys waiting. I was wondering how I was going to entertain myself on Wednesday, now I can watch the posts, some good, some bad, some thrilled to be able to add the FD, some complaining that they can't add the FD, some moving their dates, some having to move to other resorts. I don't book the FD anymore. As an AP holder I use to take advantage of it, but now having to buy the bigger ticket is too much for us, so we generally just stick to our DVC points and room only AP discounts now. We took advantage of the FD last Sept before the rules changed. Glad I have all of my ADRs set for my Oct. 15-29 trip. Good luck to all! I'll be curious to see which resorts offer it and which resorts don't. There are always a few resorts that don't have it available. Remember to have a back up plan in case you have to change your resort choice in order to apply the FD code....I've seen it happen every time!

I sent my Dis TA requests for ADRs for our upcoming 10/26 - 11/02 trip as I think that once FD is announced thing will book up quickly. I did mention the rumor and she replied that she believes that this rumor is actually true. I sent my request that she apply FD to our current package eliminating the comp. Water & More upgrade that we applied with a PIN Code a few months ago and retain the Hopper option. She essentially indicated that the price of our package could go up significantly once FD was applied and wanted to know what our budget is. Why would it go up significantly - other than the cost of the Hopper option. I sent another email this morning, do not want to be a bother, but I am confused. Isn't FD just that FD? I also requested a price quote for upgrading to POFQ IF Free Regular Dining is offered. Anyone have experience with a major increase when FD was applied?

Thanks,
Dawn

So if I am understanding you correctly...I can do a room res only on the 10th...but pick up my tickets for my FD pkg early, and be able to enter the parks on the 10th? Only caveat is dining credits kick in on 11th.

Am I close?

The only amount your package should increase is the hopper add on amount.

Disneygal, did you price out you package on the disney site? Just price out the room and the park tickets w.o dinning. That should give you your total cost. not sure why it would go up if it's only the park hopper you are getting for free.

If you are staying at a Value Resort (I'm assuming this because you said you were considering upgrading to a mod) your free dining offer will be for Quick Service Dining so if you want to upgrade to the Regular dining plan (which you would need for ADR's unless you are paying them OOP) you will have to pay the difference.
I don't know the size of your party but if your Water and More option was comped and you will now be paying the difference between QS and the DD ($11 per adult per day), and the Hopper option is no longer free because you are changing to the free dining discount offer, that would be the price increase.:confused3

You are exactly right. You can pick the tickets up for your package up to 3 days in advance of your package IF you are already staying on-site. This pick up might be able to be done at your hotel (if you are at the same hotel) but definitely can at the parks (or DTD).

THIS IS FOR EVERYONE ON THIS THREAD: Be aware that if you check in before free dining and have to re-check in to the hotel the day FD starts, there will be dozens if not hundreds of others doing this, and the check-in lines on those first days can be very long...so take that into account in your planning! In the past when we did this, I went down very early and had no problem, but by 9 AM the wait was > 1 hour. This was also for the August FD, which was very widespread.
