New free dining offer yeaaah

We were in the middle of planning a trip for Oct. 2-7 and staying offsite. Family of 6, MIL, and now my sister and her husband. We have historically stayed on site but since FD wasn't offered we were looking to save some money and stay off. Now that it appears FD will be offered we will stay on site.

Since the 45 day period is only 20+ days away we are trying to figure out how to pay the minimum at that point to get the FD and then upgrade when we get there. We are looking a package with 3 rooms at a value, 2 day ticket to get FD and then upgrading our tickets when we get there. Can you also upgrade the dining upon arival to the TS?

Last thing, do all the persons in every room have to have the same ticket or is that just per room? Some like to hop some don't...

Thanks in advance to any and all who reply. And a big kudos to the OP on this thread... you brought the magic back to a trip I wasn't really excited about.

Hi, you must upgrade your dining plan at least 72 hours before your arrival date.
All the persons in the same reservation must have at least 2days park tickets and must be the same for all in your reservation (you can buy 2 days tickets for all and upgrade some of them to more days or annual pass when you arrive)
You are welcome, I'm very happy to bring some pixie dust to your family:goodvibes

Its not that I don't believe you danny because I do but im just wonderinghow you have your inside info? And how sure are you that free dining is coming out with those dates before people start making changes to their plans...thanks!!

If 8/3 is def. GP then maybe Monday is going to be Visa?? HMMM......

That would be GREAT because I think Southwest has a sale on through the 1st - although I haven't checked it out myself yet. Sometimes those sales aren't too great to Orlando airport. Now if I could have combined their 40th anniversary sale with this free dining offer...that would have been an incredible dedal!

I contacted AAA after I read this and they too are hearing the same rumor. That Disney is to release Free Dining on 3 Aug. So I already have my interest in going at the end of Oct beginning Nov in with AAA. Now it is a matter of waiting till Wednesday to find out if it's true. {crossing fingers}

There never seem to be any Southwest sales from the west coast to Orlando anymore :confused3:confused3:confused3

Hi, sorry if this has been asked but the thread is growing faster than I can read it! :rotfl: My question is, we have an existing reservation for Oct. 7-15. If FD is announced and I call to take advantage of it, will there be any penalty? For instance, I purchased the insurance. Would I have to forfeit that do you think?

Ok, IF free dining is announced. I have a dilemma. We are booked 10-15 thru 10-22 with free qs dining @ pop. This is when our kids will be on fall break. But, I didn't know that there was sooo much going on around that time at disney. With the rumor of free dining being announced, we are debating on pushing it back a week. Can I call and just move my dates if they do announce it? Or do I have to cancel and rebook and pay all over again.

Daizieduck, I called and asked that question yesterday. The CM told me they could apply my insurance to the reservation. She said as long as I didn't cancel all together I wouldn't lose it. The only thing I didn't ask and I guess should have is..... since it will now be two seperate reservations I assume it will only cover one.

So if you have a reservation already, can you just call Disney and ask them to add the free dining promo on Wednesday?

Sorry, I know that question has probably already been asked but I just want to be sure and this thread is loooooooooooong!

Big thanks!

My understanding is that if you have a package booked, then yes. If you have a room only, they'll cancel it and start over. I'm going to call and book a package myself because it's a loooooooooooong process - names, dates, addresses, e-mails, etc. It's probably a 1/2 hour phone call to make a reservation. Much faster to do that early this week and then call Wednesday and add promo.

Thanks for the response, SarahD! When you say package, is room plus tickets considered a package or do you have to have room plus tickets plus dining?

Sorry again if these are stupid questions. I'm just trying to figure out what to do.

OK everyone, I have been keeping a close eye on this thread and I have a couple of questions. First a little back ground. We are booked at POFQ Nov. 10-19 with DDP. We do not want to change dates as our daughter princess:turns 7 on Nov. 11 and this is her birthday trip. We would like to apply free dining to our stay Nov 13-19 if possible. If I understand the previous posts correctly we could split our stay - room only Nov 10-13, pay OOP for meals and pick up our tickets which will be attached to our Nov 13-19 package on Nov 10.

So here are my questions: :confused3

1. Has anyone ever been successful in splitting a stay and remaining in the same resort?

2. Has anyone ever split a stay and been successful in remaining in the same room?

Thanks so much!

p.s. My husband and I both love/post on DIS and I need to be clear that this is my post and not his, I would never want to ruin his image by putting in all the lovey smiles in the post.

I think package is room and tickets. Adding dining is an option, but not necessary.

I think you can change anything you wish without penalty as long as you are more than 45 days from check-in. Insurance will stay with whatever you change to.

Patience, from what I understand you have to have a room and at least two days of park tickets booked. As for being able to apply it to an existing reservation, if they have an available room in your hotel/catergory you can apply it. Having a room booked already doesn't guarantee you the discount. If not, you may need to change room types or hotels.
