New Disney Ships: News, Rumors, Speculation.....and Names!

What I see in the deck plans is that they may have done away with Navigator Verandas. Those spaces now seem to be Family Ocean View cabins with no veranda.

Also, with only 2 elevator banks, and presumably 2 corresponding stairways, aft cruisers will have a longer walk to get to their cabins. Though it looks like more elevators in total which is nice.
There are two 7A (navigator) cabins besides the Family Ocean View cabins each side.

Really? It seems that each porthole is accounted for by an oceanview cabin on the floorplan. Would the new Navigator veranda rooms be the ones with verandas partially obstructed by the curving while wall? Do you have a source that shows the category of each cabin? Maybe I missed that.

Mostly curious whether the hot tubs are in an adults area or part of an expanded/moved concierge deck.

571528

Looks like it is part of the much larger concierge deck.

I counted 53 Concierge Family Oceanview Staterooms with Verandah on the Wish vs 16 on the Dream.

So, is too early to start speculating about ship no 6, now we have some details on Wish? :P

Not at all IMO, in fact that's why I came into this thread!

My line of thinking right now - has it been confirmed anywhere that the name of the ship influenced its overall theming (or vice versa)? For a ship called the Wish to have a lobby atrium based around Cinderella, Royal Suites named after various princesses, etc., it makes me wonder what kind of name/theme options could be possible for the other two ships? Or if they are going to use the princess theme through those as well?

With the ships now incorporating Marvel and Star Wars in the basic design themes now, I wonder how far Disney is willing to take that. Would they go as far as naming a ship the Disney Marvel? Disney Galaxy? Would they go farther with theming in general areas using non-traditional-Disney properties? I wouldn't really think so, and I hope not. Pixar may now be Disney enough that they could go farther with those movies. I was just thinking about ship names like Infinity or Beyond. But oops, Celebrity Cruises already has both of those names.

Ships names are duplicated all over. Carnival had a Fantasy, a Magic and a Dream I can think of off hand. Genting just launched or will be launching a Dream also.
As far as the name themeing, I think if Disney were to use Marvel as an example, it would be more along the lines of descriptive, as opposed to the business unit title. Disney in the beginning decide against using a person's name so if something negative happened, the persons name wouldn't be associated with that event. Think Carnival Vista or Carnival Triumph, Costa Concordia.

Just got this announcement about the new breakdown of the platinum. Kinda disappointed that I can't get in on the first three days (we've sailed 10 times). They should have just made other levels.

Oh geez.. THEY ADDED LEVELS??? I was so excited I was platinum too... darn it! I "only" have 11 sailings so I'm back to being in the middle of the pack.

Sorry, posted this again without reading through the recent pages. But yep, I agree! I've waited years to book platinum but none of the itineraries interested us. Now that the new ship is coming out, I wanted to get onboard, but can you imagine what the prices will be like three days after opening! UGH

Also, looks like there are not going to be as many inside affordable rooms. I've never done an inside, but would just to get onboard. Maybe we can afford it by ship #5 LOL

Had to call DCL this morning to ask a few questions. (long story short my emails from Disney go to my dad, and Disney cant seem to fix it. If it wasnt for my son, and social media, I would know next to nothing.)
2 of the more relevant questions, were what was the itin, and is Disney planning on doing some inventory control, so every one gets a fair shot at booking, since at least in theory, platinums and golds could book the ship.
The answer to the first is that its a standard 4 night cruise,(Nassau, CC sea day) with 1 extra day at sea., for 5 nights. Would have loved a double dip or a CC LHP.
The 2nd one was a little more complicated in answering. in that DCL has not fully decided yet how many passengers my or may not be allowed to book. Its a wait and see situation. From what the agent told me, she does believe that DCL has a plan in place, so that every one will have a chance to book. The question is, is how much virus precautions will play a factor into the sailing. Which to be honest is something I had not thought of. Take it with a grain of salt, considering the source, but it potentially could be a possibility that the ship will initially do a 50% booking and then go to 100% at a later date, stay at 50% or a full booking. Those are the 3 options that I could potentially see happening, on the assumption that she was correct. Not calling it a rumor or fact at this point, but it is something to keep in mind.

Thanks so much for getting this information. Even if they save inventory for each category though, if they let prices rise at the ridiculous rate that they do with every new itinerary, I don't see even 3rd level Platinum getting anywhere near realistic rates for most of us! :headache::worried:

Your welcome.
I honestly don't know what Disneys plans are for pricing. I do know from asking that pricing for the Maiden wont be available until you call, as club member on that date, and allegedly, they are supposed to verify your level prior to booking. I asked.

With that said, the blog is doing in informal poll and as of last night, the majority of responses on how many cruises for platinum was almost all 20 or more.

Might be calling back today to ask about that little tidbit on pricing.

Don't forget to read the fine print:

20% down, non-refundable, non-transferable to another cruise date

Restrictions: The Castaway Club member must remain on the reservation to be valid. Date changes are not permitted once a booking is made; Guests must cancel and rebook. Booking cannot be combined with any other offers, discounts or future cruise credits.

So you can cancel and change the date or you can't?

I think it means you can cancel, lose your 20% deposit, then rebook.
