New/Conflicting info about reserving Shuttle at Radisson

From what the girl at the radisson told me it is a new shuttle.. it was to replace the two smaller ones they previously had.

Yes, I booked this afternoon SeaSpray. I got the same information as you when I called the hotel directly. I'll be down in that lobby at 9:45 LOL Forget breakfast, we'll eat lunch on the ship.

We tried again to get a reservation for April 18. I had my DW call this time. They gave her the same story...... Since we did not book direct, we would have to call day of arrival. I guess I'll be dropping off the family with the rental car and then park the car. If I can't get a shuttle or cab I suppose I could walk it in half an hour. I'll be the sweaty exausted one you see getting in the boat.

The Radisson has ordered larger shuttles due to the popularity of this service. Previously they offered only a van.

I called last week and was able to book the shuttle for the 3/27 Magic with no problem for myself and DH. As far as I know we do not have a "cruise special package." However, we did book directly with the resort. Also, they told us the first shuttle was at 10:00. That's the one we booked.

i booked 4 rooms at the radisson last sept for 13 people and they told me 90 days out we could book our time for the shuttle i call again last week talked to a girl and she told me because i dont have the cruise package i would have to wait until i checked in and i would proably only get after 12 noon time slot .i hung up and called back after 3pm and talked to a nice girl and she said the same thing i would have to have booked the cruise package. but at that time they were not available. i talked to her supervisor and got my rate switched to the cruise package " it was only $15 per room well worth it i dont have to worry about getting everyone to the port" i got the first van out of the hotel at 10:30am on july 4 2004 for my group of 13.,they log it in with your reservation, and i called back the next day and the 10:30 am time slot was still open. and they wont start taking people to the disney ships until 10:30am only and their is a gentleman out at the curb with a list and if your name is not on the list you proably wont get on. hope this helps ::MickeyMo

if all else fails you can call this place. ive been told its $3 a person.
maybe this might make things better

I called their number and it is only $3 per person. Trouble is, they don't swing past Radisson until noonish :worried:

Does anyone know how much a Taxi would run for a family of 4 and if it would be hard to get one on a Sat. morning?

I don't know if things have changed....but I would not hold too much faith in the shuttle reserve list. I have stayed at the Radisson several times and have taken their shuttle. It seems to be a mad rush to get to the shuttle and there was never a hotel employee there checking names off a list. People just showed up out front and waited to board the shuttle. I never, ever saw anybody checking a named list for the shuttle. WE have sailed DCL 10 times and stayed at the Radisson four of those cruises and took the shuttle.

Maybe it will help with the addition of the bigger bus, but I always remember it being a free for all getting on the shuttle at the Radisson. Because of the hassle all the time with the shuttle, we now always rent a car and drop everyone and luggage off at the terminal and then hubby just hops the rental agency shuttle back to the ship and meets up with us on line.

As I said, I hope things have changed.

i spoke with the manager of the hotel and he assured me that their is a person outside and he /she will check to see if you have a resv for the time that you are getting onto the van this policy is new

WOW -

Do I have my work coutout for me.

We have a huge fmily group going down the night before our cruise and we are going to stay at the Radisson - I better come up with a couple of options in order to get our family to the port at a reasonable time. I am not so sure I like this deal!!

Thanks for the heads up!!

bmurphy02....I am so glad to hear that. It really was a free for all and I have seen a few flared tempers as people who had not reserved would just show up and expect to get on the shuttle.

Please let us know how the new system works and thanks for the heads up on the new Radisson policy.

I'm staying at the Radisson on April 16 for the cruise on the 17th. Booked through the Radssion website - not a cruise package. When I called to confirm last week, they allowed me to reserve the shuttle on the 17th. Spoke with a very nice guy named Leif. He didn't say one work about what kind of room rate I had. Really nice guy.

SCOTTOHIOCPA....shouldn't you be working on tax returns ;) I too am a CPA and have far too many tax returns to do without being on these boards so much.

I noticed you said you were parking a rental car. Just wondered if you knew you could rent one way from MCO and back from Port Canaveral with no drop off fees? We rented a van for $59 each way and DH just drops us off at the terminal and takes the car back while I check us all in. Then he just takes the rental company shuttle back to the port. No hassles. When returning, he disembarks first and takes rental car shuttle to pick up our van and comes back to pick us and the luggage up. Very quick and easy.

Have a great trip

I just made a shuttle reservation for April 24, 2004 from the Radisson. I made my hotel reservation over the internet, and did not purchase the cruise package.

The gentleman who answered the phone booked my party of 4 on the 10:30 shuttle, no questions asked. He took my name, but didn't seem to look up my reservation.

Sounds like luck of the draw as to who answers the phone.

I did the same thing. After all this talk on this thread, I got a little worried. We booked our room on the internet (not the cruise package). So I called the hotel this morning. We are booked for the August 21st cruise, and I was able to book us for the 10:30 shuttle that morning. The lady on the other end did not ask me what packae I got, but she did read all my information back to me a told me that we were all set up. I sure hope so!::yes::

Lotsofboys - I "reward" myself by checking the boards after I get a return done. This is my carrot. There seems to be quite a few CPAs on these boards. :smooth:

Thanks for the hint about the rental car drop off policy. We have an intermediate size car for 8 days at $200, so I think it will cost about the same by the time I add the cost for the extra days. We will probably pack one bag of clothes for the land portion of our trip and leave it in the car, too.

We booked through Orbitz and I think the Radisson can't reserve us for the shuttle because Orbitz has a bulk block of rooms.
I've been going to the YMCA and running 2 miles just on case!LOL.

Actually, the running is to prepare for all the desserts!LOL

Hi,
We just got back and stayed at the Raddison with the "cruise package." On the way to the ship we did the shuttle. It was a total hastle. It was unorganized and stressfull. On the way home we got a taxi back to the hotel...it cost $10 and was easy as can be. The taxi driver even drove us (and all of our luggage) right to our car so we didn't have to lug it around. I would recommend using a taxi service if you stay at the Raddison. You are spending big bucks to go on the cruise....it is not worth the $20 you will save.

We were going to do the shuttle but it seems to much of a hassel, we got a decent rate on a car, under 200 for the 9 days we needed it so we will just drive to the port early from the Raddisson. We wanted to get right off the ship and hit the parks early anyway and it will work out better if we can just get in our car and head over there instead of getting the shuttle to our car.

We just returned and did the shuttle from the Raddison and it was no hassle at all. We met in the lobby at 10 am and waited about 20 minutes. Then they loaded us up and whisked us to the parking lot at the terminal. There we handed our luggage over to the porter and went into the terminal. I reserved the shuttle in advance by e-mail and they had our reservation when we checked in. We didn't drive or buy the "cruise" package.
