I added on at AKV last week and had second thoughts when units at BLT were declared 2 days later.

Did I miss something? When were BLT units declared?

I think "New Buyers Beware" is a bit on the dramatic side and is quite negative. Perhaps "New Buyers - A Heads Up" would have been more appropriate.

Also, if you are going to make potential buyers aware of the new Contemporary property you should also make them aware that the purchase price there is rumored to be significantly higher than buying points at the existing DVC properties.

Good point. However BLT is a fact not a rumor, and its higher pricetag is rumor not fact.

2 units were declared last week complete with resort drawings and room layouts. There is a thread with the links on the MOUSELANEOUS board.

We love AKv and would not be interested in BLTso that was not an issue for us.

Wouldn't mind getting a some points here either, but gotta see how it all works out. Would be nice for a last day or two at Disney.

No interest in BLT or whatever they decide to call it. Love our AKV. If we were to add on at a second home resort, it would likely be BWV.

Also, we just leased a 2008 Ford Escape a week or two before the 2009 came out. And we love our car too!

Lovin' Our AKV purchase- The BLT seems to be a bit too "cold" for us as a Disney Resort goes- Looks very sky scraper-New Yorky which is great for our taste when it comes to staying on business or when seeing Broadway but when we go on our vacation I want a nice country home type atmosphere, relaxing & home away from home feel! But to all interested in BLT- Go for it! We may opt to even stay there once- who knows? I am intrigued about P&B's mom with the $1000- incentive and other small things like lego land gift cards and such- Was that only for those of you who added on? I don't need to get Addonitis right now but it is nice to know that when and if we do feel the need, that there may be an add-on incentive to help us along-

It is a near certainty that BLT will have a higher pricetag than current resorts. What that price is is yet to be seen, but if your interest is informing potential members you should probably give as much information as possible.

P&B's Mom - How did you end with a $1000 gift card, if you don't mind my asking? We are preparing our paperwork for 260 AKV points, and received a $500 gift card. Want to make sure we aren't missing something!

We got the $1000 gift card as part of their anniversary promotion from early August. Actually, we didn't attend the event the first weekend in August, but the incentives were still valid on the day that we went to the DDD location. It was a total surprise to us--also were able to pick a stay at AKV or DCL as our incentive, along with SSR. The AKV worked best for our family. We are new owners, so not an add-on.

Sorry--I don't know how to double-quote, but we did receive the Legoland cards when we originally agreed to purchase. Laurie was our guide. We met with Chris from quality assurance--not as forthcoming with any "freebies" yesterday, but my mom did get the travel mug she wanted.

I agree. AKV and BLT are apples and oranges. Its up to potential buyers to do their homework.

Bought yesterday at AKL, for the very reason that we don't like the Contemporary....if AKL wasn't available, we would not have bought...so I guess it just depends on what your personal preference is.

We bought AKV yesterday and wouldn't change it for anything! My DH is not a fan of the Contemporary's theme and we paid 96pp as well so I can bet that BLT will be more $ per point, I'll keep our home at AKV

I agree with you, but What theme are you referring to? BLT is the first DVC ever built with no theme.
