NEW (and IMPROVED, if THAT's possible!)Wilderness Lodge FAQ

FINALLY got a new picture to work!! See below! Will post more later after I get them back.

Food is closest to the number 3. Transportation is closest to the number 1. The bus stop is just above and to the left of the number one area. I also recommend you stay high up (5th or 6th floors) to avoid noise from below. Everything regardless of floors is just an elevator ride away.

1 and 3 areas are the main buidling and 2 and 4 are the towers. Main buidling goes to 7th floor. Towers go to 6th floor.

Pretty sure 2 is south tower and 4 is north tower.

Hope this helps.

Fred

RatPack , I borrowed your picture to understand better. the picture below has 1,2,3,4 where is south wing and which side is the food on and the transportation on etc.. I'm a guy so visual helps me to understand better.
So far I think I will ask for a 5th room floor, thats as much i have settled on

We had a woodsroom (#4 on your picture) overlooking the otter pond but no view of the castle - only the giant toaster. It was nice but had I to do it again I would have gone the extra bucks for a courtyard view which overlooks the pool area. I am a people watcher and it would have been nice to see people from the balcony while DS was resting. We were in 5026 which was very convenient to roaring forks which, in my case, is the most important (need that coffee and lots of it). I would recommend getting close to RF which is in between 3 and 4 on your picture). Transportation is at 1 on your picture. As far as higher or lower - the only thing I would not recommend is the non-smoking section of the 6th floor (unless of course you are a smoker or don't mind the smell). Although I was not in the rooms, you definately could smell the smoke in the hallways.

Hope that helps and good luck with your decision - anywhere is good as long as you're at the lodge.

Jeanne,

We booked a woods view room. I always request the Roaring Forks side. We'll be arriving late Friday night (12/12) and staying until 12/21.....woo hoo! :Pinkbounc

Are you doing MVMCP? We're going on 12/14. Just got my tickets.

Beth,

We haven't decided if we are going to MVMCP yet. And actually, Sunday 12/14 the only things we have planned is breakfast at Trails End and Marcel wants to watch the Bucs game, either at a sports bar or up in the room, we were kind of hoping the Territory Lounge would have it on. So, MVMCP might be an option, I will talk with Marcel about it. Have you ever been and is it fun? :D

I am surprised you could not see the Castle from 5026. We had 5028 in July and had a great view. For future reference, you can go to the end of the hall and watch the fireworks from the hall windows as we did in our Sep. trip.

Rats: That would ahve been cool. what time was you there? I did a lot of wandering around so we most likely seen each other.

Fred:
Get the CD Friday, will e-mail

Arrived home last Thursday back to reality, (late post due to bad cold started Thursday night no sick days at WDW) I must say this was one of the very best trips ever. Friday 9/19 drove solo to WL and recieved upgrade at check-in. My ressie's where for standard view no special request, any room at the Lodge would be fine. Was up-graded to courtyard view room # 4137 had a great view of pool area and slide, room was in south tower close to the elevators midway down hallway. So I had easy access to pool area and short walk across pathway to RF. Looked for Majestic, FloridaCat and Corky no luck, just read trip reports from all and trying to catch-up on everyones trip. Even though I have stayed at the Lodge many times before this trip was just so magical because I was solo for first day and a half, I just did what I wanted and took my time. Best memory, after checking in walked to boat dock to go to MK...alone on dock, boat just leaving Ft Wilderness could see Watermouse zipping in and about Bay Lake with someone taking off parasailing from THE GIANT TOASTER. I said it just doesn't get better then this.
;)

Jeanne,
We've never been to MVMCP. This will be our second time during December. You'll love the way the lodge is decorated.

I figured we'd do the early entry for MK on Sunday, leave and go to the hotel for lunch, rest, etc and then head back for the party around 6:30.

Can't wait!

So sorry we miss each other. I had made a big MM sign with FC on it and hung it on the table. We were pretty close to your balcony.

Glad to hear you had a great time.

Homechicken,

The south side is 1&2 and the north 3&4. The transportation is actually a little tough. The boat to MK, CR & FW is on the North side and the buses to everywhere else is on the south side. In fact in the picture next to where your 1 is, you see a hallway so to speak, that is the covered walkway to go to the buses. To get to the boat, you need to go down by the pool and there is a walkway that starts at the end of the north side and goes to the boat. The food is in the building you have as 3 for the most part with Roarin Forks at the end near the pool and Whispering Canyon and Artist Point at the end close to the lobby. It really isn't a lot of walking no matter where you stay. Since you have already decided 5th floor and you have a courtyard view, I don't think there is much more I would ask for unless it would be the bunks for kids.

We were at the fireworks so I didn't care about seeing them from my room. I just thought it would be cool to look out at night and see it changing colors, or first thing in the morning. Thanks for the tip.

I was bummed that we didn't get a chance to meet. We didn't get a chance to meet any DIS'ers... I wish I were back there now.... The high is Pgh on Sunday is supposed to only be 45 - Brrr.... Wishing... to... go... back...

I'm still trying to finish my trip reports. Every time I get a chance to work on them I get interrupted and I also get depressed as I WANT TO GO BACK!!!

I understand. I love watching people also and I spend a lot of time down in the Courtyard. I like the Woodsview just to sit and have some quite tiem.

I AM so saD we did not get to meet. I had made a sign and was so looking forward to at least say hi!.

Send some of that weather here, we are still in the high 80's

I know what you mean about post trip depression. I did not know anyone did this but me until I got o this thread.

Looking forward to your report. Have a special day.

THIS BOARD GETS ANY SLOWER grrrr!!!!!

I'm not a big poster, but I love to read. My DS9 & I are going Nov. 8-15 and I just wanted to thank everyone for all the wonderful trip reports, info, and pictures.

Majestic - My son picked up some more alien green mickey ears to take with us - must not be too many dis'ers from Nebraska. :p He is sooooo stoked about the "hunt" for the box.

Again... Thank you everyone!
