Never Again...

I FINALLY FOUND OTHERS WHO DON'T LIKE HOOP DE DOO! :cool1:

We went for the first time 3 years ago. I couldn't believe how long it took us to get there, first of all. Changing busses at the Fort, I was very confused. Then the show was very "dinner theater". And I can see that here at home. I get that it's great for some families, but I hated it. I mean, it's fried chicken and ribs, I'm from NC, we eat that all the time! :lmao:

Did Stitch once, whatever. Haven't done Carousel in YEARS. I would have to say at this stage my never do again would be Chef Mickey's for dinner. Golden Corral is better, really. I might try breakfast there, I have heard that it's better. OH and Flame Tree BBQ, ewwww.

The Seas with Nemo and Friends was the lamest thing my husband and I ever saw at Disney. We both got off the attraction, saying, "That was it???". So disappointing. We just wasted all that time for that?!!!!
We also were not impressed with Reflections of Earth Epcot's nightly fireworks/laser show. We staked our spot and held it for an hour (as well as throngs of others) and we ended up leaving before the finale as we both thought it was very lame and we were bored. We actually got more entertainment and had more fun with the dancing fountains timed to the music and the little lights in the sidewalk that lit up after dark by the Innoventions pavillions on our way out. Anyway, after that, I couldn't convince him to even try waiting for the Wishes fireworks at the MK or Fantasmic! at DHS. I really wanted to see those too. Maybe next time... http://www.wdwinfo.com/images/smilies/confused24.gif

Maybe they were trying to figure out what was wrong and fix it, before they had a restaurant full of upset guests. Unless they were rude to you, that would be my guess.

She sounded a bit upset, but she outright rude. I also think this may not have been the first time that this particular server got a low tip due to service. We thought it was almost comical at the time because my father is one of the best tippers that I've ever met.

That meal made us miserable, and we didn't want to talk to the manager about it, we just wanted to wash our hand of the entire experience and move on to more fun stuff.

Another restaurant we've crossed off our list is Yachtsman. While the appetizers and service were both glorious, the actual entrees were subpar as were the desserts. We noticed a pattern in Disney where if the meal is fantastic, the desserts are supbar. If the meal is subpar, the desserts were fantastic. There are so many more restaurants to enjoy and try rather than go back to ones that we didn't feel were 100%.

My never agains are Disney Quest...I can't stand all the darkness and how loud it is....And Astro Orbitor, I just cannot stand that ride...LOL :rotfl::rotfl:

We wanted a quick bite to eat at the Grand Floridian so we went to Gasparilla's. I got a hamburger and nearly broke a tooth on some gristle. For the prices they charge, I expect better quality!

When we did the DinoWhirl at Animal Kingdom I was in the middle of the car but the ride slammed me against the side hard enough to bruise a hip. Not my idea of a good time. I can proudly say I survived the "mission space," (before they added the tamer version) but was relieved when it was over. Not something I need to do again.

January is a much better time to do WDW than July. just sayin.

Stitch

Mission Space (me only - DD loves it)

Maelstrom (sp?) - unless we have plenty of extra time & no line. It isn't bad, it's just not worth the wait for what you get.

Sounds Dangerous

Star Tours (again - me getting nauseous)

Yet for some reason I can do ToT!!!

I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT DISNEY QUEST!! Soooooo glad we had comp tickets to that fire trap. Never again.

So interesting that what some of us love, others hate!! I have a few never agains:

1-Staying at AKL. Beatiful resort, wonderful animals, longest wait times for busses EVER. This resort I'm sure is great for some, a real oasis, but my DS and I are park geurillas and the slow bus service drove us CRAZY. :sad1:

2-Disney Quest. Crowded, noisy, confusing layout and my TEENAGE DS didn't like it so if a teenager doesn't like a place full of video stuff then you know it can't be good.

3-Another vote for Stitch. :sad2:

4-Rope drop at DHS trying to get to Toy Story Mania. I thought my DS was going to have a melt down because of all the pushing and shoving. We finally ducked into a store and just hid until the crowds were gone and waited bit longer in the fairly entertaining and fast moving line at TSM. My DS was almost 15 at the time but this pushed him to the brink. :scared1:

One ride that gets voted never again a lot is Carousel of Progress but it is a must see for us every year. When we first started going to Disney when my DS was about 7 or 8 he LOVED it (can't explain why :confused3) and now it is tradition that we go every time. We also sing the song to each other every now and then in our "regular" lives to cheer each other up cause that song means Disney to us. :) So, there is something for everyone at Disney. party:

The Wishes Dessert Party.

The adults didn't care to control their kids, and too many people are put in a small place at the same time. If this was an adults-only event, I would do it again.

When we went to Rafiki's Conservation Station, the talking trash can was out, and talked with my DD for quite a while. He asked why she had her arms folded, and she said she was cold. He asked where we were from, and she said Wisconsin. He then told her she shouldn't be cold, because we were in Florida. It turned out to be a special time in our trip, but mainly because that happened!!

I can find redeeming qualities about almost every ride/resort/restaurant, but my 2 never agains are:

Stitch--love the character. hate the ride.

CBR--just could never get my bearings here. Couldn't figure out what station to go to for the item I wanted in the food court. Maybe it was because we were so far from it, it was easier just to leave the resort and get what we wanted elsewhere. Never had this issue at the other resorts we stayed at. DH and DS feel the same.

I agree with last December being cold, our AK day was barely in the 40's with a strong wind. EE was REALLY cold.

On the other hand, someone mentioned Innoventions. We like it there, and spend time in them each trip. We don't do everything in them, but there are some attractions and on our last trip dds enjoyed making their own rollercoaster.

Emily

Dec. trips are out for us.

We were there this past Dec. too. Really cold is right! Icy winds. We had our winter coats, hats, and gloves on. Still freezing. When the winds blew in between the buildings, it was an icy blast!

We had a good time despite the cold, but it didn't have that "Fla." feel to it. :upsidedow I was glad I brought a few boxes of hot chocolate with us. We needed it when we got back to our room!

*Funny thing is we have been in Dec. before and it was mild not freezing. You just never know!

I kinda agree with alot on here,
1. Stitch lame, it does not work, loved it as the alien original wish they bring it back,
2. We dont go when its crowded, oh 1 time I did I had a women cut my ankle while she pushed a stroller over me and i couldn't move cause of the crowd - Disney had to open a gate and let the crowd walk behind the buildings, I was scared for my life (briefly), I was so freaked out. But obviously lived, lol :)
3. Ellen's is awful, I used to only go into it for rest time but now it annoys me too bad. It seems so dated. And whats scary about it, is that the rest of the day you keep thinking to yourself, did Ellen say we are going to run out of natural gas by 2065 ? Oh no Oh my Serioulsy I can't shake the worry of all the heavy facts the load on ya.
4. Innovation area is way bottom of my list.

All the above being said I love anything Disney! But.............
5. I wont mess with anything, on Disney property that is not Ran by Disney, For example the salons, spas & some fitness centers @ the resorts. These just do not have any Disney magic or care to me at all. Also best-friends pet care. I just always run into problems with these. And I'm talking about over multiple years and third & fourth chances. To the point that I loath the fact that Disney has outside vendors!! If you do have a problem, getting it fixed is a headache. All the troubles I have ever had came from a on site non disney vendor.

Oh one more - "meltdown ally" thats what we call the fantasy land area at 3pm ish when the sun in hot and the Lil' ones all start to lose it, :) All most any time of the year.

P.s. we dont have kids ( yet ) but we do travel with little one several times a year,

- Sounds Dangerous. Absolutely the most pointless, run down attraction at WDW.

- Disney Quest. Went on the day we were leaving because we had plenty of WP&M option on out tickets left over. The Pirates attraction was pretty fun, but unless you're looking for motion sickness and headaches: SKIP IT!

- Sum of all Thrills. Nothing special - just a roller coaster simulator.

- Plaza Restaurant. It's very rare that I don't leave a tip. This was one of those times. Absolutely the most awful service I've ever had in my entire life. Everyone working at this restaurant was rude, it was cramped, and the food was horrible.

- Light, Motor, Action. I saw it once, I don't really have the urge to see it again. Same with Finding Nemo: The Musical

I really hope you give the Plaza another try. It is one of my favorite places to eat in the Magic Kingdom. I've never had anyone be anything but friendly and nice to me there. I love their sandwhiches!

Never again: waiting on DH. He's a "vacation is for sleep" person and I hate missing a moment. Next trip I'll put our cell phones to good use and let him join me when he wants. After I've had a full, fantastic morning!

Another never - going with friends when what we really needed was sleep! Too much cat-hearding, too much trying to please everyone, too few emotional reserves to draw on. If I'd had a few days pre-trip to sleep the rest would have been doable and the whole trip so much better. Lesson learned.

Similar - no early morning flights for us! I'd much rather arrive around dinner, get some food, meander the resort, and then rest for our first real day at the parks. We've done the early flight, arriving before lunch and hitting the parks then and it's a recipe for meltdowns. Not worth it.

A last never that, I'm sure, puts me in the minority: never again bring or rent a car! The bus stops and waiting and squinting to see if that's my bus are an inexplicable part of the magic for me, like I'm in some strange land that floats unconnected to the freeways and streets I know. We had a car one trip and though I usually enjoy driving, that sucked so much of the magic out of that trip.

There are rides I will never do a first time - basically most of the thrill rides. Splash Mountain and BTMRR are as "wild and crazy" as I get (and I actually skipped BTMRR this past visit). I will never set foot on ToT, Space Mountain, EE, and the like. I won't even do the tea cups in MK since they spin too fast!

There's only one thing I've ever actually tried once that I'll never do again, and that's a meal at Beaches and Cream. I'll do ice cream no problem, it was delicious. But the dinner was horrible...low quality food that IMO cost way too much for what you got. DDs grilled cheese sandwich was the saddest looking thing I've ever seen with half the cheese unmelted, the fries were soggy, and the fruit was nowhere near fresh. And to top it off, for that we waited almost 90 minutes after being told that it would be half that time (yes, it was our choice to stay...if the meal had been worth waiting for I wouldn't have cared, but when it turned out to be so bad the wait just added insult to injury).

I actually like Stitch & I was drooled on, do remember the Extra Terrorestial, was fun. I'm 62 & love that sort of stuff.
I can't stand It's a Small World, only go on that when I need to cool off. The Ellen thing was so much better before she was added to the ride. You could smell the sulpher from the volcanos & feel the breath of the dinosaurs.

See, I find it funny that you said "won't even" do the tea cups, because the tea cups are way too much for me. I won't ever get on them, EVER. On the other hand, I can't get enough of Tower of Terror, dropping up and down is my favorite type of ride. I can't even spin around in a swivel chair without feeling slightly ill.

As for my "never again", I would have said going in the beginning of August after my trip last summer because of the heat and the crowds, but I'm going to be at Disney in August this year for a conference and a girlfriend and I are staying a few extra days because she won't get the chance again for a while... I guess I'll give it one more chance :confused3

One of my "never again"s is definitely anything having to do with Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary. The food was sub-par for Disney standards IMO (even if it is a buffet) and our waitress basically strong-arm demanded a tip without even giving us a chance to leave one. We got the dining plan and when she asked if we were on the dining plan she handed us back our bill and asked how we were going to pay for the tip. It really hit a nerve with DH....so it's on our "don't bother" list.
