Never Again...

One thing I would never do again is go during the weeks wrapping Easter and expect to go to all the attractions! We went once and after I had a meltdown, we were able to scale back and enjoy ourselves (e.g. none of the "big" attractions).

It's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow is my "Bus Alarm" on my phone. Every morning when the kids hear that, they know it's time to get their teeth brushed and get out the door. A little bit of magic every morning...

So interesting that what some of us love, others hate!! I have a few never agains:

1-Staying at AKL. Beatiful resort, wonderful animals, longest wait times for busses EVER. This resort I'm sure is great for some, a real oasis, but my DS and I are park geurillas and the slow bus service drove us CRAZY. :sad1:

2-Disney Quest. Crowded, noisy, confusing layout and my TEENAGE DS didn't like it so if a teenager doesn't like a place full of video stuff then you know it can't be good.

3-Another vote for Stitch. :sad2:

4-Rope drop at DHS trying to get to Toy Story Mania. I thought my DS was going to have a melt down because of all the pushing and shoving. We finally ducked into a store and just hid until the crowds were gone and waited bit longer in the fairly entertaining and fast moving line at TSM. My DS was almost 15 at the time but this pushed him to the brink. :scared1:

One ride that gets voted never again a lot is Carousel of Progress but it is a must see for us every year. When we first started going to Disney when my DS was about 7 or 8 he LOVED it (can't explain why :confused3) and now it is tradition that we go every time. We also sing the song to each other every now and then in our "regular" lives to cheer each other up cause that song means Disney to us. :) So, there is something for everyone at Disney. party:

We toyed with the water park idea (in March) but decided against it because like yours, my kids have never been to a water park. I didn't think a Disney waterpark would be the best choice for their first foray into waterparks, since it would ALL be downhill from there! Our local "Water Wizz" would really really disappoint them this summer after Typhoon Lagoon. :)

But August? I'd go for sure. Sounds heavenly!

Any thoughts on the water parks. We are planing to spend a day at each. Both my DW and I have only been to only one once and very much enjoyed it, the DD's (16,14) have never been to a water park. We are going the last week of August and think we could use a break from the heat.

Thought, "Oh hey we have 30 minutes before we can go to SciFi for our ressie, let's duck in here and just waste some time." If you want a nap, go to the show. It was the most boring thing I have ever done!

OH MY...it's still there??? We haven't been there since 2007...I thought for sure that LAME show...or whatever you want to call it...NAP TIME...would be gone by now!
I think that's one of the resons I could care less if I ever go to DHS ever again!

Took DS on stitch in 2008..he freaked out!! :scared1:I felt horrible!! I felt like I scarred him for life with that ride!!! Never again!!! Even though he's older now..I won't do it!!!

Ha! Us too! My daughter was 7 the last time we went...totally freaked her out...we're going again next spring, she'll be 12, she already told me there's NO WAY she's doing the Stitch thing...5 years later and she's still scared!

Before Stitch, it was Alien Encounter which was even more scary! Maybe Disney should change this to something completely different!

I would have to say that my one never again is: Disney Quest. I don't even have words for the place.

I also have another one that gets on my nerves but have to do at least once during a trip to Disney and that It's a Small World. With them singing the same thing over and over and over and over again it just gets so very annoying.
-------------------------------------------

As for all the other rides and attractions there we love them all. We find something in everyone of them that we enjoy very much.

My "never again" has to be doing evening EMH and expecting to be anywhere before noon the next day. My family actually expects to sleep while at WDW.:confused3

:) Never again will we try to go through the gates at MK while they are filming the Christmas parade. Luau--been there, done that and didn't even get a t-shirt, however the fire twirler was incredible in the last 5 minutes of the show.

I really do not like the Haunted Mansion. I get why my DH does as well as so many other people. I keep my eyes closed the entire time. If that bride wasn't in the attic I would be OK. I also don't like the icky faces popping up in the graveyard. I have seen the new bride (since refurb)...once...

Oh and the sugar free desserts at the CS restaurants.....horrid little brownies that you could use as hockey pucks.

If it's a hot one, be at the water park for rope drop. There's a mad dash to get good chairs once they drop the rope. Plus, once it gets to lunch time, they get super crowded. We LOVE Typhoon Lagoon. Once we get there, we stake out a chair and go ride Crush'n Gusher as many times as we can before the line gets out of control.

Thanks for the tips! The rush I think I'll be making is to an inner tube for the lazy river:cool2: I loves me a lazy river. DW will make a rush for a shady spot.

Thanks for the vote of encouragement. DW and myself are both easy going and think we will need a relaxing day or two after a full day at MK fallowed by a full day at Epcot.

Nocomment711- My dad thought it would be nice to treat my husband and I to a day at Disney, soon after we married. I had been several times as a kid, but he had never been. So my dad being the die-hard-have-to-see-it-all took us to all 4 parks in one day.
It is all a blur, can't even tell you what order we did it in:rotfl: When we got home we'd see those shows on the travel channels about each park and we'd just look at each other and say "did you see that, nope me either" Now several years later we are getting ready to go back to take our DD5. We are probably just as excited as her, cause it will ALL be new to us too! Will NEVER do 4 parks in ONE day again!

I thought I would try and help you get your ticker :). I made mine here. Once your finished creating your ticker copy the second url option for your ticker and paste it into your signature and you should be all set.

To edit your signature select the arrow next to quick links in the menu above. Then select "Edit Signature" under the User Control Panel. This is where you will paste the url for the ticker you created

Three Rivers Restaurant at the Boardwalk is a never do for me. We have Premium AP so DQ is a must do for the brother's and I at night time..... After a bit of time at The HoB. :hippie:

I guess the not to do list changes as you/your kids grow. There are several things that as a young child we didn't do after the first time. Conservation station was on the list then. Now that we are 17, 21, and 22 we do it everytime.

I just thought of another "never again". After our most recent trip in Nov 2010 as a group totalling 7 people, all very good friends who were helping me celebrate my 40th a couple of months early, both my DH and I declared NEVER AGAIN. We had a good time...but everyone had such diverse touring styles that it was all just TOO MUCH!

One example: It was our first evening at the MK and Wishes was just about to start - my FAVE of the nighttime events in all the world. My best friend shrugged this off, instead preferring to stay inside a store on Main Street and shop! Turns out this was to be a MAJOR preferred activity for her, so she spent extra hours inside the stores all week long. No biggie. Just a shock to me that anyone would spend SO MUCH TIME inside the stores, as cool and uniquely themed as they may be, looking at expensive merchandise than doing anything else.

The most frustrating incident came one morning when we had just arrived at DHS. "Wait" my friend said. "I have to pee." Okay. We all waited as she dashed into a restroom near the front of the park. A few minutes later, she joined us. Then my BIL decided he had to go. OKAY. We waited. 3, 4 ,5 minutes. BIL arrives back and then my friend's DH decided he had to go. Seriously?? Now, I thought they were all messing with me, but no. I must admit that I lost it just a little and shouted "Who has to go when Sheldon comes back? Cause I think I'll wait til he or she comes back AND THEN I'm going to go pee." Not my finest moment. Did I mention that we were a group of 7 grown ups travelling without children. I mean COME ON - we wasted 15 minutes doing the pee-pee dance. SO annoying.

Heed the warning folks...the magic does NOT necessarily multiply when you go with more people. My DH and I agreed that the best trip we ever had was just the two of us back in '06. And I have read dozens of trip reports that echo this same sentiment - travelling with a large group of friends or extended family comes with a boat load of issues and challenges and stress and potential meltdowns of EPIC proportion!

All that being said, DH and I must be slow learners cause our next trip this Nov will consist of no less than 12 people (including 4 children). :rotfl2:

After reading some of these posts... I'm kind of bummed. We were really looking forward to the luau at the Poly but now I'm not so sure...

If you are looking for a dinner show experience, I would encourage you to consider Hoop Dee Doo instead. It may be campy, but it is more fun and the food is considerably better than at the Luau. For me, the Luau was dreadful dinner theatre at its WORST. It is not an "authentic" luau, which would have been fine. Instead there's a silly storyline that no one cares about...the food was merely adequate. You'll get a better meal at either Ohana or the Kona Cafe and still get to soak up some Polynesian vibes. Plus, it is expensive - if you are paying OOP then it is not worth the price, nor is it worth 2 meal credits if you are on the DP.

We know friends who actually walked out of this show halfway through. We wanted to but kept thinking it must get better, just stick with it. Sure enough, the fire-eaters were the best part of the show, but they came at the VERY end and we had to sit through a whole lot of "ugh" before they livened things up.

OMG me too!!! Ionly use my cell alarm when I travel, but that is my wake up call!! :lmao:

...will I go in the summer months. Because of my job, it used to be the only time I could go. But now I'm freeeee to enjoy the World whenever I want!!!!!!

I would suggest a Disney cruise if you're willing to try another group vacation. We've had 17, 19, and will have 16 again next Easter. We're all together but don't have to hold hands everywhere. We all meet up at dinner or head to the beach together. It was nice. It's all the magic you love about Disney but relaxing & pampering. :cloud9: Almost makes WDW feel like it's work.
