So interesting that what some of us love, others hate!! I have a few never agains:
1-Staying at AKL. Beatiful resort, wonderful animals, longest wait times for busses EVER. This resort I'm sure is great for some, a real oasis, but my DS and I are park geurillas and the slow bus service drove us CRAZY.
2-Disney Quest. Crowded, noisy, confusing layout and my TEENAGE DS didn't like it so if a teenager doesn't like a place full of video stuff then you know it can't be good.
3-Another vote for Stitch.
4-Rope drop at DHS trying to get to Toy Story Mania. I thought my DS was going to have a melt down because of all the pushing and shoving. We finally ducked into a store and just hid until the crowds were gone and waited bit longer in the fairly entertaining and fast moving line at TSM. My DS was almost 15 at the time but this pushed him to the brink.
One ride that gets voted never again a lot is Carousel of Progress but it is a must see for us every year. When we first started going to Disney when my DS was about 7 or 8 he LOVED it (can't explain why) and now it is tradition that we go every time. We also sing the song to each other every now and then in our "regular" lives to cheer each other up cause that song means Disney to us.
So, there is something for everyone at Disney.

Any thoughts on the water parks. We are planing to spend a day at each. Both my DW and I have only been to only one once and very much enjoyed it, the DD's (16,14) have never been to a water park. We are going the last week of August and think we could use a break from the heat.
Thought, "Oh hey we have 30 minutes before we can go to SciFi for our ressie, let's duck in here and just waste some time." If you want a nap, go to the show. It was the most boring thing I have ever done!
Took DS on stitch in 2008..he freaked out!!I felt horrible!! I felt like I scarred him for life with that ride!!! Never again!!! Even though he's older now..I won't do it!!!
If it's a hot one, be at the water park for rope drop. There's a mad dash to get good chairs once they drop the rope. Plus, once it gets to lunch time, they get super crowded. We LOVE Typhoon Lagoon. Once we get there, we stake out a chair and go ride Crush'n Gusher as many times as we can before the line gets out of control.
We toyed with the water park idea (in March) but decided against it because like yours, my kids have never been to a water park. I didn't think a Disney waterpark would be the best choice for their first foray into waterparks, since it would ALL be downhill from there! Our local "Water Wizz" would really really disappoint them this summer after Typhoon Lagoon.
But August? I'd go for sure. Sounds heavenly!

After reading some of these posts... I'm kind of bummed. We were really looking forward to the luau at the Poly but now I'm not so sure...
It's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow is my "Bus Alarm" on my phone. Every morning when the kids hear that, they know it's time to get their teeth brushed and get out the door. A little bit of magic every morning...
I just thought of another "never again". After our most recent trip in Nov 2010 as a group totalling 7 people, all very good friends who were helping me celebrate my 40th a couple of months early, both my DH and I declared NEVER AGAIN. We had a good time...but everyone had such diverse touring styles that it was all just TOO MUCH!
One example: It was our first evening at the MK and Wishes was just about to start - my FAVE of the nighttime events in all the world. My best friend shrugged this off, instead preferring to stay inside a store on Main Street and shop! Turns out this was to be a MAJOR preferred activity for her, so she spent extra hours inside the stores all week long. No biggie. Just a shock to me that anyone would spend SO MUCH TIME inside the stores, as cool and uniquely themed as they may be, looking at expensive merchandise than doing anything else.
The most frustrating incident came one morning when we had just arrived at DHS. "Wait" my friend said. "I have to pee." Okay. We all waited as she dashed into a restroom near the front of the park. A few minutes later, she joined us. Then my BIL decided he had to go. OKAY. We waited. 3, 4 ,5 minutes. BIL arrives back and then my friend's DH decided he had to go. Seriously?? Now, I thought they were all messing with me, but no. I must admit that I lost it just a little and shouted "Who has to go when Sheldon comes back? Cause I think I'll wait til he or she comes back AND THEN I'm going to go pee." Not my finest moment. Did I mention that we were a group of 7 grown ups travelling without children. I mean COME ON - we wasted 15 minutes doing the pee-pee dance. SO annoying.
Heed the warning folks...the magic does NOT necessarily multiply when you go with more people. My DH and I agreed that the best trip we ever had was just the two of us back in '06. And I have read dozens of trip reports that echo this same sentiment - travelling with a large group of friends or extended family comes with a boat load of issues and challenges and stress and potential meltdowns of EPIC proportion!
All that being said, DH and I must be slow learners cause our next trip this Nov will consist of no less than 12 people (including 4 children).![]()
