Need to be held accountable LOL

I haven't weighed in many days, I lost count. DH weighs almost daily - not me! By the time I remember, I've already showered, dressed & had b-fast so I ususally skip it but weigh in every 5-10 days so that could be why I'm seeing progress when I do :confused3 (well, plus watching what I choose to eat)

Glad the treadmill watching TV went well for you :thumbsup2 Keep up the good work. Don't get discouraged if you're not losing as fast as you hope, doing that mile a day is building muscle and eventually the weight loss will follow with your eating plan. And just think, once you arrive, you'll look even better because your body will be FIRM

I'm on the countdown to our WDW trip & we prebooked with the DDP a month before we started South Beach so I've been thinking about how NOT to undo our 3 months of progress when we get there next month
I say just go and enjoy your vacation then get back to your diet and exercise when you come home. Unless there are some easy yummy choices available. I know there are salads available for lunches at most places but enjoy your dinners. Did you get the Quick service plan or the Dining plan? I would let yourself enjoy vacation in every way. I know when I go on my Cruise I plan on eating Chicken Nuggets with ranch dressing!! sounds funny but they are so good and although I wont eat them on my diet I will eat them on my diet vacation lol. My Cruise will be a diet vacation too, I will still do my walking but I will eat what I want. (granted that still may be a salad after all my hard work LOL)

Ugh I've been so far off the past month. I've been shopping for some active wear shorts so hopefully by the end of the weekend I'll have enough exercise shorts for a week. No excuses that I have nothing cool to wear for workout in this summer heat.

It sounds like you are doing pretty good getting on the treadmill. :) WTG! I need to get back into staying on track with the exercise challenges here. I did well at getting in exercise when I followed them. The last few times I end up stopping. Back when dd was little I was doing good. I didn't see any loses but I was exercising and that alone kept my bp down enough I could be off the meds.
Isnt it funny the excuses we will use lol. Thank you I appreciate the encouragement. I have to admit this weekend I was not a good Girl I went to Unos and Olive Garden and I didnt lose anything this week. But I am still chugging away on my tredmill. I feel Good just knowing I am exercising doing something good for myself.

I just had my gall bladder out in April- I have dropped a ton of weight- 3 pant sizes! I am conviced- the lowfat-no fat way is the way to go. I eat fruit(heard better to eat on empty stomach-then eat your meal- helps with digestion- nuts, fruit, organic when I can- nothing out of a box- lean meats-no cheese(tear) yogurt- no fat-------------lots of salad(no dressing) cottage cheese-veggies in a little olive oil-salmon-grilled-

we have a juicer- my husband used it alot last end of summer-into October- his stomach went WAY down- thought it was the golf- now I believe it was the juice- I told him I am going to juice a piece of fruit every am. we'll see- it's hard some days-but trying clothes on in a different department is awesome! I have tremendous energy- my knees feel better- happier! You got the sstart down- you lost a lot already- good for you!:cheer2:
Thank you I am so excited for you on your weight loss. I know the feeling of shopping in a smaller dept that is nice Im hoping to make it there for my cruise Id like new clothes for the cruise. But I need to find a way to lose faster this 1 lb here and there is driving me crazy. Im still 266lbs granted started at 275 but was really hoping for faster results lol.

Sounds like you're doing well since your gall bladder came out :thumbsup2 When we were on vacation last summer I was having issues that turned out to be my gall bladder, so it came out last Sept. It took me a while to get to feeling better. Glad to hear you're doing so well only 3 months later  I'm impressed to hear 3 dress sizes - wow!

Low fat is a great way to shed the pounds. Although we're doing our "tweaked" version of south beach, it sounds like we are essentially eating the same. It really does make a difference not eating the processed foods. No longer having dinners out of a box, fast food & junk like that & the longer you don't eat that stuff, the easier it is not to have it.

I didn't know before how wonderful olive oil is & now I'll never go back to cooking with margarine, crisco or any other kind of oil. Yeah for spices & olive oil :dance3:
Guess Its time for me to change the foods Im eating too not just how much maybe that will help me lose what I want? I need to lose more or I may give up :( It is a little frustrating. Seems changing what I eat is what will help. When Are you heading to WDW? I also walk on the tredmill when I know I will be heading to the parks so I wont tire out so early in the day. It helps me make it through the day at the parks easier. I feel with all the walking we do in the parks we break even on what we eat lol.

Oh no you don't  You are going in the CORRECT direction  Just think how you felt before you started? You are up to a mile on your treadmill so keep it up :cheer2::cheer2:

Now if you think you want to change the food you're eating, I'm going to suggest you do some web surfing or go to the local library & check out some books about food & nutrition :thumbsup2 You know yourself better than anybody & what is going to work for you or not. It sounds like you think what you're presently doing is not getting the results you want, so you make the decision how to alter your plans - okay?

This is a lifestyle change, not a diet :goodvibes We are 3 pages into this thread & I don't want to lose my cyber weight loss buddy so hang in there!

Post back soon so I don't have to worry about you jumping ship :boat::sail:

Chin up & try not to let frustration take over.
Hugs

Oh Im still here, not getting rid of me that easy LOL Just thinking out loud thats what made me give up in the past hit the wall you know. And wishing it would move faster!! I am still chugging away. Thank you for the kick in the butt lol. I needed that. I think its funny the nuggets with ranch are my favorite food on the ship lol, well besides the lava cake.
I weighed in after my unos and olive garden weekend and still weighed the same, I ate what I wanted and didnt lose but also didnt gain any so that wasnt to bad. My daughter and I went away for the weekend went to the drive in theater and watched Toy story 3 and Eclipse double feature it was great.
Well the good thing is Chicken is one of my favorite foods and it is really good for you so that is my go to food currently. I like it in just about everything use it in wraps, salad, main dish, etc... Got any good chicken recipes? Just chicken breast thats all I eat LOL sauces, marinades?

No I still have BP med but I would love to come off it for good by the end of this year. I definitely want to avoid a cholesterol pill. Its just triglycerides are a tad into the high 153 and they would like under 150. She has me trying niacin over the counter to lower it back down. Its been just over borderline since I was a teen seems to run that way in my family. I don't not care for meat especially beef but I'm still doing the omega 3 fish oil when I can. It gets up there in cost and right now I just can't afford the higher doses she would rather me take on them, even getting them on buy one get one specials its tough on my budget.

I will definitely jump on the exercise wagon. I've been feeling so bloated I think I want to try my BP med without the water pill now that she increased the dosage finally. First she added water pill and although it was at a good point after my gallbladder was removed it was back up and she wanted to increase the dose when it didn't go down by end of appointment(not long at all and I had JUST taken my pill before). It just dehydrates me so much and with our HOT summers its hard to keep hydrated if I go out for any small amount of time it seems.

You had me a smidge worried - glad to see you back soon

We have chicken last night & again tonight  we like chicken too!

Last night: Olive oil, garlic, onion, fresh basil from garden, rosemary & black pepper drizzled over boneless, skinless chicken breasts. Olive oil "spray" (not PAM) the skillet, cook it on high quick about 10 minutes to brown it, then bake at 350" about 30 minutes on a rack.

Chop fresh broccoli, stir fry in left over olive oil concoction, add slivered almonds & WHOLE grain brown rice (not the instant stuff, takes 30-40 minutes to cook, I prepare a bunch in advance & then ration it by portions, keep in fridge until needed) then top with some over the counter low sugar chinese spice or low sodium soy sause.

Added fresh canalope to when serving.

Tonights dinner: prerationed whole grain squiggly long pasta boiled al dente, set aside. In skillet, stir fry zucchini, red pepper & fresh asparagas in a concoction of olive oil & spice like last night, once veggies cooked to your liking, add the left over chopped up chicken, the cooked pasta & top with mozzerella all in the same skillet until cheese melts. Add parmesean cheese & serve with glass of red wine.

Yum, I do not feel like I'm dieting, yet I eat like this & we lose weight

We leave for WDW in 3 weeks :cool1: I'm going to have to really be careful on that dining plan with all the desserts included

I still think 1-2 pounds a week is really good progress :thumbsup2 Plus all your exercise is great :yay: I need to get motivated to work out daily like you! We have started walking a few times a week together & I'm trying to swim at least twice a week. But I need to do it more! DH is now doing his workout during lunch, 30 faithful minutes a day. I'm really proud of him.

If you're interested, I've posted info to another person asking about South Beach:

Okay got my shorts finally last night. :) I didn't get up and exercise because I had tons of errands to run this morning, including a visit with my Dr. Still have one more I really need to get done because need my fresh purified water or I get tempted to drink the soda.

I'm motivated to get to some stretching and pilates tonight my stomach is pretty upset this afternoon I think its from bad posture at the computer. :confused3 I can't imagine it was something ate but I did have some really strong tea my brother made. He left the bags in the pitcher in the fridge overnight. My weight was up more at the appt this morning. It really bothers me I'm not eating a ton but it also fluctuates. The Dr. would have tried another pill but I said no we can keep with this one and see a bit longer. She said we'll run some more bloodwork in 6 months but otherwise the headaches I started getting with the new dosage is in a spot that is usually tension headaches and to stretch and exercise my neck. She said she could order some PT for it and I should have taken her up on it but finding a sitter would be tough.

OOOH 3 weeks. SO lucky. I may go sometime next month to Disneyland. Or my brother wants to go to some park but we aren't sure of dates we can. Once school starts it would have to be a weekend trip.

Thank you for the chicken recipe :) Yummy. The desserts would be all I would worry about but by the time you are done with your dinner you may not want dessert or may want very little. But remember not to stress it is vacation!! Enjoy yourself a treat. Just dont eat the whole cake ;) LOL

Im glad you decided to join us here, Hope we help you get motivated. I know i need the help staying on track so if I post I know im going to stick with it!! It only takes me 15 minutes for a half mile in the morning and the evening. Thats not a very long time but it helps and it gets you up and moving. I made excuses I dont have time I cant because ....... the wind is blowing outside LOL but really once I stopped making excuses I found I have more energy and I feel better over all. I just get on the tredmill and go first thing in the morning and after work at night. It helps me wake up in the morning and relieve stress in the evening. It is great for all sorts of things I dont know if you read that i had broken my ankle and thats how i put on about 40 lbs but i dont even use that as an excuse any more and the walking is helping strengthen my ankle so it doesnt hurt as much. So many benefits. Wish you luck and cant wait for us all to lose :)

Your scales being different that your dr's scales I think you will see differences, try not to let it bother you & just keep with your plan. DH weighs every day no matter what. We went to a party last night & had a few items we don't normally have (subs & alcohol :)) and yet, he got weighed this morning & lamented he gained 2 pounds. Not me, I'll compensate a few days and then get weighed :thumbsup2

Did your Dr. give you exercises for your neck? Exercise specifically for your neck & shoulder area will give you a lot of relief. I've been swimming this summer, that's a nice way to get some overall stretching everywhere if you have an opportunity.

Just dont eat the whole cake ;) LOL

last night at the party, DH also got a piece of the b-day cake. I said, "That looks good, can I have a bite?" and before he could say no (he didn't care :goodvibes) I had just 2 bites & stopped

You are doing so well :thumbsup2 I'm very happy to read you are sticking with it. I have been doing some swimming & some walking, but not daily. I really need to do something everyday because I know I'm going to get blisters at WDW

Do you have your shoes broke in for the trip? A good pair of sneakers makes a huge difference at the parks. I just booked a trip to VEGAS!!!! My sister and I are going in January lots of walking to do there so I need to keep on my walking and start adding more in. I am trying to hold off on adding more in until my visit with the doctor for my ankle. But the apt is this friday so I wont have to wait to much longer :D Once I get the ok I will start adding more milage slowly and hoping that will kick up the weight loss some. :)

Oh I mean the Dr's scale measurements. I was in last month she upped my dose of current med to try to get it a little lower. So she wanted me back in a month so I know from that one month i as up about 10 lbs. I was at 285 last month and 292 that morning. EEK :scared1:

Oh no I'm always scared to weigh after a out of norms events. Usually turns out okay though. ;) No she didn't give me specific ones did say she could send me to the physical therapy if I wanted or it kept up. I told her I'd call if I thought I need them but I suspect they are from poor posture at my computer. hehe I have a kitchen chair as a desk chair.

So proud I did 1 mile walk with walk away the pounds for 15 mintues. :cool1:

I usually do 1 or 2 alone to build up to the whole 45 minute 3 miles walk.

I do have 3 pairs of tennies broken in & I'm working on breaking in a pair I bought - don't remember what they're called - but they're those ones with the arched heal to redistribute the way you're walking to work your calf & leg muscle better. I don't think I'll take those one to WDW  just use them here. I am really getting siked out for our trip, it's coming up soon & I'm not ready yet

I hope your Dr. visit goes well on Friday - I'll be crossing my fingers for you!

I got to go in yesterday to the doctors and I need to have surgery on my ankle just to get th pins taken out. He thinks thats why i still have pain. I didnt know i could have the pins taken out or i would have gone in alot sooner. I will need a couple weeks of recovery. But should be walking again in no time :) Surgery scheduled for august 27th so still walking away until then!! Then recovery and hitting the tredmill better than ever, i mean if this takes away the pain that is so lets keep our fingers crossed and hope it works. Then I can really get back into shape :) Cant wait!!!

Aw, bless your soul  WHen you found out the pins could come out were you having a big "wow, I could've had a V8" moment  No wonder your ankle has been bothering you. Glad you're feeling optomistic about your upcoming surgery. It will be great to walk pain free when it's all over & your recover time ends. Keep us posted on how you're doing.

P.S. There's some interesting posts over on the south beach thread & recipes if you're interested.

Yes Totally LOL. Yes I could have had it done next week but my husbands schedule didnt allow for me to have the surgery then so I have to wait.:( But I still cant wait. I didnt walk today!! Bad me, I have a head cold or allergies or something lol can barely breath so im skipping this morning any way should make up for it this weekend my daughter has girl scout camp this weekend and I am the assistant leader so i will be up and running all weekend. Im sure I will make up my morning half mile this weekend LOL.

Well look at it this way, if you have a head cold & was on meds they may not have done the surgery & postponed it anyway.

I'll bet it's allergies so I hope you have some over the counter something like allegra or flonaze to take to help out if you're going to be in the woods with girlscouts all weekend :rotfl: Or do girlscouts do cabins? Boyscouts is always ruggid outdoor tent camping which is why I resigned from that duty a few years back :lmao:

Either way, seems like this heat just has the air and all the microrganisms sitting still in the air for us to all inhale & inflame our sinuses

Have a good weekend - post how it went Monday. Today is my gma's 88th birthday so a very SLIM piece of cake will be on today's menu. I finally dropped another pound so I'm now over the 30 lb mark, about 31-32 lbs but I have a cheap scale so 5 increments are easier to see! It seems like having very small & limited amounts of treats hasn't done me in yet. Now that I've been doing this almost 4 months it really has gotten easier to gage what foods will & will not work with my metabolism. If only I can just keep it even steven while we enjoy our WDW dining plan :thumbsup2 I have been reading menus on line trying to have a plan where we can go & I can find something suitable that won't undo my day. But I WILL be doing a lot of walking
