need makeup (foundation) help!

please, please try one of the mineral make-ups I would never go back to a liquid or anything similar it is the next generation on make-up and the coverage is great I would do the bare minerals line, however L'oreal sells a line this works very well also just make sure you invest in the kabuki brush to apply it buff the foundation in well, and it looks fantastic also to cut down on the redness look into one the the green tinted cover sticks and apply a very very light finger tip application on the red areas followed by the foundation

Well, I was going to ask...why don't you just do a bit of a touch-up at lunch?
If you have something that you like, just retouch/reapply at lunch. I have to powder my face a couple of times a day and its no big deal.

I guess I just have problem skin because when I reapply or touchup, it just ends up looking flaky/cakey.

Here is my routine now......I moisturize, use the monistat, dab on a little green based coverup, set with the BE hydrating mineral veil, buff on the BE matte, a little warmth, then the mineral veil over it all. I went to Sephora and this is how the girl told me to do it. In fact, she wrote it down step by step (of course, she didn't say use the monistat.....lol).

I think I will try the Cover Girl just because I can return it if I don't like it. Where can I get MAC? Anywhere online? It's not available thru Sephora and we live out in the sticks so the nearest Macy's, etc. is almost 2 hours away. Although if it worked, it would be worth the drive!

Dermablend make-up is good, it can even cover a tatoo. But I think you can only buy it at dept. stores like Macys......

Rite Aid has a cosmetic guarantee. You can buy any makeup & return it for full money back.

Try a different moisturiser. Some of them really aren't compatible with makeup. They don't combine well and give that cakey texture. Also, let the makeup and the Monistat sink in for about 10 minutes before you apply makeup.


As for MAC, yes, you can get it at Macy's. This way, a gal there can help you pick out the right colors and try it all on you. If it doesn't cover well, you can walk away without buying.

If you ever read the reviews at makeupalley.com. (register for free to access the reviews,) most people will talk about their complexion according to their MAC foundation color, like "I'm WC14." Then other people with the same complexion know that makeup may work for them.

I use Make Up For Ever...they sell it at Sephora and on sephora.com.

My face tends to be red and blotchy and it's extrememly dry. This makeup with the use of cetaphyl face wash and face lotion makes it all better!

Plus it stays on all day!

That's what I do. I have slightly oily skin due to large pores, which includes uneven color and always have to blot (not rub) the oil off and use some more powder on my face.

Otherwise, I look like crap halfway through the day.

Hi all, I need help finding a good foundation. My skin is very blotchy because I have rosacea and even when I do find a foundation that will cover up the redness, it never lasts all day long. I've tried using different primers like the Smashbox photofinish both the regular and the green and also the Monistat trick but my makeup is still gone at the end of the work day. (actually it's gone by around 2:30-3:00). I am so tired of everyone asking what is wrong, did you get sunburned, do you have a rash, etc........

Right now, I'm using the BM matte foundation in medium beige. I love the way it looks in the morning or right after I put it on but it only lasts a few hours.

Any suggestions?

If you use Monostat powdergel under your make up it will not come off. It is the same ingredient that they use in all the pricey make up primers like Smashbox. I have rosacea and it helps. Make Forever HD is a good foundation.

There is a MOnistat chafing relief cream which turns into a silky powedery finish. Many are using it instead of expensive foundation primers, because it is a lot cheaper. The idea behind the primer is just that - primes your face for the foundation layer. It fills in your pores and is supposed to help the makeup stay on better.

If anyone has an Ulta store near them, I love love love them. I started using Studio Tech liquid matte foundation from there a few months ago. I LOVE it. I used to use Mac, but like this one so much better. I believe it is $24 a bottle, but it lasts, covers very well, stays on, and there is usually a coupon that comes in the Sunday paper for Ulta.

You can also try on samples to find the right brand or color. Ask a sales lady for help. And if you don't like it, as long as you save the receipt, you can return it for a full refund after opening the package & trying it.

I never wanted to spend a lot of money of foundation either, but you pay for what you get. If you want great coverage, it's a little more expensive.

Where is the grocery or drug store do you find it? I have looked in all the places I can think of, but have never been able to find the monistat anti-chaffing gel. I know I'm looking in the wrong place!

I swear the best foundation I have found, esp. for covering redness, is the Maybelline matte whipped mousse. It is very silky, is not liquid, and seems to last longer than anything. I hate Clinique's foundation. Wore Prescriptives for a long time, but the Maybelline consistency and coverage wins out. The Maybelline matte powder (in the little container same size almost as the foundation) also rocks. Yes, even over the $50 custom blended I used to get.
