Friend’s son arrived in St Thomas today for honeymoon. Staying in Sapphire Bay area in an AirBNB.
They need help in finding places to eat, best transportation and things to do! They have never been to St Thomas before and need help - especially for where to find food!!!!

It's been years since we were there, but my primary impression of St. Thomas was that it was a taxi economy. There was no other way to get around, and the prices were crazy when we were there.

It's been a long time, and things may have changed, but it's not a place we will ever go back to.

Safari taxis are $1-$2 per ride. They are Group taxis with a set route, kinda like a bus really, but open air, smaller. If they've travelled in south America or Africa theyll know what these are.

Agree. It's easily the grubbiest place we've ever been in the Caribbean but I did love the fact that everybody spoke English and we found the people relaxed and pretty friendly.

I'm cracking up. But, also have a suggestion. Along with Yelp, trip advisor.

They didn't bother to research anything about the island before they arrived?? Good grief - tell them to contact the BNB owner for suggestions.
1. They probably have cell phones. Tell them to look it up themselves on Google.

2. Step outside of the room. Have a conversation with a local. Ask where's a good place to eat.

Can't really offer anything better than the above! I mean - they went there w/o doing any research?

Well....if they venture into the BVI's the Willy T used to be the place to go, although these days it's a bit more known/popular and polished than it was in the early 90's.

Well since it's after 9 pm in St. Thomas, they may be out of luck for food tonight. Hope they packed snacks.

When they wake up tomorrow, tell them to go to Glady's Cafe in Charlotte Amalie. It's one of my favorite places to eat. Glady's introduced me to fried plantains and I can't wait to eat there again this summer.

Your son's friend's brother's cousin twice removed and his new wife can also check out YouTube for travel insight in St. Thomas. Most suggest renting a car because taxis can be quite expensive. Just don't let them forget which side of the street to drive on.

St Thomas is a civilized place. It's not like they have to scrounge and eat berries for food. And most of the locals speak English as it is a U.S. Virgin Island. Heck, even if it was a British Virgin Island, they would speak English too.

If they travel along the coastline roads, they will find many resorts. . . with restaurants.
