Hi All,

With the use of Magic Bands, do you think I still need to carry cash with me?

What are places that only take cash and not Magic Bands or Disney Gift cards?

What are places that will take Disney Gift Cards but not Magic Bands?

Thanks!

The balloons and food items sold on the streets and in the Fantasmic stands I think are still cash only. The pressed pennies are cash only as well. Beyond that I've never come across anything else I couldn't charge to the room. Last year I went for 5 days with my 5 year old and completely forgot to get cash. I went with $10 and came back with a couple bucks. Most of that was tipping when I left my luggage at the resort the last day.

Eta: I actually may be wrong about the food being sold in the stands at Fantasmic. I think I remember seeing them with a portable credit card machine once.

We brought change for the pressed penny machines and the tips were already measured out in envelopes.

Beyond that we needed no cash this trip. We didn't try to buy anything from the portable stands though! I always had $40 with me just in case.

I was there two weeks ago. Cash only for the balloons and the face paint near Toy Story at HS.

Even though I had a Magic Band on my January Disney World trip with family, and friends. I still carried cash with me specifically because I wanted to buy some mementos from the trip. All my meals were covered by my friend who had gotten the magic bands for her daughter, and my family as we stayed at one of the Disney timeshare resorts.

I hate using a credit, or debit card when I'm on a trip. Having cash was a lot better for me. I know it wasn't practical for the amount of cash I was carrying. But, it worked out well.

If the food cart has an umbrella or looks like it'll be in the same spot for awhile and is off to the side- not in the middle of the walkway meaning someone is pushing it around, then yes they will accept mb/giftcard. If it is being pushed in the middle of the road before the parade, no, there is no card reader. If you're not sure you can always ask the vendor :) If you want a balloon, I recommend buying on first day, you can carry it everywhere, and have it to play in the room, easy entertainment! Honestly i'd just not bring cash. Why bother losing it, if theres a vendor selling ice cream that can't accept MB, I can guarantee there's another vendor 100 feet away that can sell you the same thing or something better :)

We only used cash for taxis, tipping Bell services, airport luggage handlers and housekeeping. We used our MB's for everything else except the restaurant at DTD.

I've twice had it where the merchandise cart could only accept cash, that their card readers were down. So now I keep a small amount of cash on me, just in case.
