Our return time for Soarin had past. Grant said we could get another fast pass and he wanted to ride Test Track.
while we were standing out front of test track I could hear the ride, it sounded like the cars were going a hudred miles an hour. Grant could tell I was scared already, it doesn't take people too long to figure out that I am wimpy when it comes to heights and speed. "it's just like riding in a convertable car," he told me
We got in line and Grant and Jenny kept assuring me that this ride was fun, not scary and if I handled mission space so well then I could do this ride with no problems.
But it sounds really fast."
"It's only like 60 miles an hour, maybe 65."
jenny thought she had a convincing argument there, but Rig new better. "Lee is always hollerin for me to slow it down."
"Because you drive like 80 miles an hour Rig."
"Baby lee...Really? You know my truck shimmys at 40."
"Rig, when you drive MY truck, you go too fast."
I knew I was going to ride this, I really wanted to experience everything I could at Disney world. I came out of Space Mountain unscathed, I was mentally messed up for a while, but my physical being was sound. I came off thunder mountain in tip top shape. I can't say the same for Rig. but I knew I could ride this.
"does it have seatbelts?"
"It does, said Jenny patting my shoulder, you are perfectly safe."
The line moved fast until we got to a part where there really wasn't a line anymore, people were just all bunched up by a door. We stood there for about 10 minutes before the door opened and we were let into a room where we watched a screen explaining all the test sequences we were going to experience. We then went into the big room where all the cars were. We could see people coming in on their cars who had just raced around the track, most of them were laughing, all of them were smiling. This looks good for me I thought.
"How many in your party?" a CM asked
"Four"
He told us where to line up. Jenny and Grant insisted we take the front seat for our first ride on Test Track. I didn't know If I wanted the front seat, but Rig had already taken my hand and pulled me to our spot.
Right before we were about to board our car Rig turned to me and said "don't bite me now Hannibal."
He stepped down into the car first and then helped me down, we got strapped in and the ride lurched forward. I was expecting that I would be surprised left and right, but they tell you which sequence is coming up next. I really liked being tested for extreme heat, I was warm for like 20 seconds, it was nice while it lasted. I did scream when I thought we were going to be smashed head on by a truck. But the most exciting part was when the car went outside onto the track. I loved the feeling of building up speed and then just racing around the outside. I didn't feel the need to burry my head in Rigs chest. I was overcome with a braveness I never knew I could have. I wanted to stand up and throw my arms in the air. That thought only lasted a second before my common sense kicked in. "Do you WANNA die today Lee?" and the answer was no, I didn't want to die. I stayed buckled in and seated. We weren't even stopped when I told Rig I have got to do that again.
the ride came to a stop and Rig climbed out then turned and pulled me out too. Grant had gotten out of the back seat first and told jenny, "Hey don't forget the bag."
Rig shook his head in disbelief, he went over and took the bag from Jenny and helped her out of the car. If Grant thought anything about that he didn't show it.
Off the ride I was so caught up in excitement. I loved the magic of disney World and I was starting to love the thrill of it now too. that's when I told myself for sure I would ride every ride there was. I even told Rig that I wasn't going to be a baby, I was up for anything.
Grant said, "they give ballon rides at downtown Disney."
"Ok, I am up for most anything, not everything.
Jenny picked our next adventure. "Let's go see honey I shrunk the audience."
Grant moaned, "I hate shrinkage."
It had started to rain on the walk over, Rig pulled the poncho out of his back pocket and I put it on, it smelled like paint and was huge on me. But it was nice that I would stay dry. I gave the umbrella to Rig so he could use it, he just tucked it into his jacket.
We went into the building for the show, we watched yet another movie, Disney likes to bombard you with preshows before giving you the real thing.
We were let into the theater and found seats in the middle. the show started and I got bored. just for a little while, I should say I started out bored and ended up sitting on my feet, my face pressed into Rigs chest. "Watch the teeth Jaws."
This show was too much for me. the mice running by my legs, the dog spit, the snake in my face. Ugh! people like this? It was cool though how once we were shrunk down, the floor would bounce with the movement of the footsteps on the screen. that was a neat effect, I think that was pretty original. but all in all I would call this tired and outdated, it was like a cheap carnival trick. For everything that I had already experienced from Disney world I was expecting the same here and I left a little disappointed.
So I needed some thrills again. We went to ride Soarin for the second time. the fast pass line was still kin dof long, but we at least didn't have to wait in the regular line. The time posted for that was 90 minutes. It amazed me that people would actually wait that long.
Grant had apologized to me again for picking for at me. I told him it was already forgotten.
"I thought your husband was going to lay me out."
"I don't think he would have done that."
Honestly I don't know what Rig would have done if Grant didn't stop teasing me. I don't think it would have come to anything physical unless Grant wanted it to.
One time Rig and I were walking in the park in town and some young trouble making guys there drinking and harrassing folks. when Rig and I walked past them one of the guys made a nasty vulgar gesture towards me. Rig told him to apologize to me and the man was like "Or what?" Rig grabbed onto him and had him pinned up against a tree in 10 seconds flat. His face was inches from the mans and he said "you sure you want to take that walk son?" the guy apologized immediately.
but Grant did apologize and all was forgiven.
For our second ride on Sorain we were in the middle row and that's when I understood the foot view thing that Jenny had talked about.
I have to go run an errand for Rig, I will be right back to add more.
