We got back to our room and put on our jammies. Rig and I layed on the bed and started flipping through the channels on TV.
It wasn't long before Rig had fallen asleep. I tried to sleep, I had too much running through my head. Excitement from all we had done so far and excitement for what was still to come. I turned off the TV and just lay there.
Rig and I get some of our best sleep on rainy days, but sleep just wouldn't come to me this day
the curtains were drawn making it dark in the room, the fact that it was still gray outside only added to the darkness inside, it was about 3 in the afternoon but felt much later than that.
I thought about getting up and ironing my outfit for that night, and then the thought occured to me, Rig had only brought 5 pair of jeans for this trip and he had already gone through 4 of them. ( he makes too much laundry for me all the time) I figured we would be too tired to wash clothes when we got back tonight, and I didn't want to have to get up and do it tomorrow before going to animal Kingdom. I had the time now, I would just do it now. So I got up and got dressed.
I gathered all of his clothes and some of mine. His jean jacket didn't really need washed but it needed dried, so I grabbed that too, stuffed everything into our mesh laundry bag, took some money out of Rigs wallet, grabbed the book I was reading and made my way to find the laundry room.
I asked a nice lady on the elevator if she knew where it was and she said she was heading to the petals bar and she would show me where the laundry room was.
It was still raining, I'm glad I had worn my poncho.
I made small talk with the lady, she was leaving the next day and was disappointed that her last day had to be a rainy one. Rig says rain is a part of life, never be disappointed, spoiled plans can be remade, but we can't live without rain. So I never sweat the rain, I take it stride. but this poor lady was really in despair over it, she hated spending her last day at the resort, she wanted to spend it at Magic Kingdom.
"why don't you buy a poncho and go to Magic Kingdom."
"My husband doesn't like being out in the rain, it makes his back ache."
"Would he mind if you went without him?"
"No he doesn't care what I do."
"then go without him, forget about the rain, practically all of the rides at Magic Kingdom are indoors any way."
"well, maybe I will."
We said our goodbyes and nice to meet yas, good to talk to ya's and then parted ways near the laundry room.
doing laundry at disney is a little more exciting then doing it at home, which isn't much to say the least. I knew I would be doing laundry on this trip, but didn't think it would be so soon.
I started the process of cleaning our clothes and read my book in between. Rig was right, I really shouldn't have been reading that book at disney.
After a while the clothes were washed, dried, folded and in the bag. I made the walk back to our room.
Rig was still asleep when I came in, I hung up our shirts and put the jeans away in the drawer, then I got my jammies back on and crawled back into bed with Rig.
I set the alarm to go off in an hour just incase I did fall asleep.
I never really slept, just maybe a twilight nap, one where you eyes are closed and your body is relaxed but your mind is alittle bit more awake to fully let you sleep.
teh alarm went off and I got into the shower. when I came out Rig was up. "Babylee, did you do wash?"
"I had to, you wouldn't have anything clean for tommorrow." He kissed my head and said "thankyou baby, you're a good wife to me."
He grabbed some clothes and went in to shower.
He came out later all clean and smelling like body wash and cologne.
Rig was taking a break from his wranglers and instead wearing a pair of dark blue levis. His button down was light blue cotton, one of my favorites, I had gotten it for him last christmas.
"I think I'm going to leave my cowboy hat here tonight."
"OK," I figured maybe it was just too wet to wear, it didn't phase me then. Sometimes Rig goes out without his cowboy hat, sometimes he will wear a ball cap, sometimes he won't wear a hat at all.
I had brought along a nice outfit to wear tonight, I was ironing the black slacks when Rig came over, he stood behind me and put his arms around me while I ironed, "babylee, don't dress fancy tongiht."
"It's not fancy Rig, it's just some dress pants."
He grabbed the slacks off the ironing board and threw them on the bed. "You don't need to dress up for my brother, just wear what you wore earlier."
"why Rig? what does it matter?"
"It doesn't matter, just be yourself, don't be fancy, you're not fancy at home, don't be fancy here."
"Be myself Rig? You are telling me to be myself when everything about the way you are dressed screams I'm not a cowboy. Why aren't you really going to wear your hat tonight?"
Rig just stood there staring at me. he was twitching his jaw. He picked his hat up from the table and put it on his head, grabbed his jacket an dopened the door. "I'll meet you outside." and then he left.
I slumped down on the bed. Rig and I have had arguments before over things more stupid then this, sometimes he will walk away, sometimes I will walk away. It always hurts, but we always find eachother and talk it out. It just seemed to crush me harder that we were having an argument at disney world.
I put on a pair of jeans and the same yellow hoodie I wore earlier, grabbed my poncho and headed down to the bus stop.
I found Rig sitting on a bench, he was leaned forward and had his elbows resting on his knees. I sat down by Rig, not saying anything, not sure of what to say anyway. A bus came for downtown disney, rRg didn't move, he didn't even look up. The bus filled to half capacity before leaving.
It was another 10 minutes before Rig spoke. "I wanted to work on a ranch since I was a kid, I loved horses, I loved looking out and seeing herds of cattle, I liked the energy it made me feel."
I knew this already, he had told me this before, but I just listened still.
"Truck makes fun of anything that isn't like him."
"Is that why you weren't going to wear your hat?"
He sat up and shrugged, letting out a deep sigh. "I don't know, maybe, no...I don't know."
"I'm sorry Rig, I didn't think seeing Truck would be this hard on you, I should have been more understanding."
"don't apologize Babylee, I wasn't being fair to you, you didn't deserve the attitude I gave you, I'm just thinking I want this so bad, but it probably isn't a good idea."
"It's just dinner Rig, we can leave right after dinner if things don't go well, we don't have to stay."
Another bus for Downtown disney was pulling in. "We don't have to go if you don't want to.' Rig stood up and took my hands pulling me up too. "No babylee, let's go, it's about time my brother met my wife."
the bus ride to Downtown disney was quiet, Rigs jaw kept twitching, another habit when he is nervous or deep in thought. Rig said we didn't have to get off at the first bus stop, they had 2 for downtown Disney. so we waited and exited at the second stop.
I could see Planet Hollywood from the parking lot. It was still lightly raining so I was happy the walk wasn't along one.
We got to the restaurant, the reservation was under our name, but we still checked to see if Truck had maybe shown up. He hadn't.
We waited under the awning, it was getting real close to our reservation, I was afraid that Truck might have backed out of coming, I mean if Rig and I talked about backing out maybe Truck was having some last minute thoughts too. Rig and I were watching the parking lot for Truck when we heard a "YeeeeeHaaawww, how's it going brokeback mountain.?"
