My email changed: does this make sense?

Okay I had/have a bit of a enigma that I am trying to solve, if someone could help me.

I booked a stay a few days ago, as well as waitlisted. So, I was checking my email to see if there were any updates, when I noticed that I didn't have any emails from DVC at all. No confirmation email. No Welcome Home. So, then I did a search, and I noticed I hadn't received any DVC dues automatic payment emails for some time.

This had me perplexed. So, I logged in, looked at the profile. Sure enough, my email was listed as my secondary email. I don't check this email very often. I typically use it for sales and spam and things like that. So, I log into my secondary email account, and yup, there were all the emails I hadn't gotten.....and sadly hadn't even noticed I hadn't gotten. Haha.

So, now I go into investigation mode. It looked like the last time DVC messages were hitting my email was back in January. And this starts the gears to turn. So, we were out in California at the end of January, early February. One day, I stopped by the DVC desk for some free swag. Ended up chatting with the gal, who offered a grand villa tour, which I was definitely interested in, but as we were only there for a short time, I wasn't sure when we were going to be able to fit into our plans. So, I let her know we'd probably have to play it by ear.

I really don't remember what information I gave her. Can't remember if I gave her my name or room number. I know I gave her my cell, and then I gave her my backup email.

Is it possible she would have changed my email in my DVC account? Or....even if unintentional, could she have plugged my email in to send me something, and that would have prompted the site to change my email?

If not, then this is a total mystery.

As integrated as Disney systems are, it would not surprise me at all that giving your name and an alternate email at a kiosk would change all the emails across all Disney websites, including DVC, Disney Plus, Hulu, MDE etc.

I know my login for all Disney sites was changed to the same login when Disney started buying up so many online companies.

I had a similar issue where they merged two Disney accounts I had. My main account where most of my services and DVC were, was with email A. The second account which I used once for a trip (don’t remember why) was using email B. Obviously they made my email B the main one when they merged the accounts 🤣

Side note, that created a ton of issues for me, mainly the inability to process payments online. Even calling the CMs had to use a legacy system to process payments. That lasted for years and was a headache.

That was accidentally solved when I switched my Disney account to an email C…

Disney is very crazy about their logins/emails. You cannot have 2 different ones they are adamant about it. I have has SO MUCH trouble due me having different emails for WDW vs DLR

Disney has had a tendency to update/assign attributes/things/people to you whether you want them to or not for years, even decades. Years ago I took my son’s then gf to WDW w/ us a couple of times & suddenly started getting promotional emails addressed to her in my email account long after they’d broken up. Disney’s only solution was to stop sending me notices entirely 😱, they could not just delete her connection to my email :(, so it would not surprise me at all if the system didn’t just ‘update’ your email w/out notice to you. Their IT has always seemed to me to be very sloppy & unsecure, but I’m no tech wizard. Good luck getting them to reinstate your original email.

I have two emails, but to the best of my knowledge, not so far with Disney.

A few years ago I started to try to transition all my accounts to the newer email. This became just a mess. I finally gave up and stopped trying. I now try to check both emails to keep up with my accounts.
