MR on the Wonder - Mar 18 2012

A new thread for those booked on the March 18th 2012, 7 night cruise to the Mexican Riviera on the Wonder - anyone out there?!!!

It really does - but this cruise is keeping me going right now!!! Wait - are u going twice????? Both wonder??

I will have my ds who will be 8 & dd will be 5.

I was starting to think I'd have the ship all to myself

Yes, we are going twice. We are going January 2nd on the 6 night with a big group and only bringing our dd-3 with us as it is our son's first week back at school after winter break.

The March cruise is for all of us for spring break. DS's will be 8 & 6 and DD will be 4.

What city do you live in? We live in Simi Valley.

How crazy is that???? Who would of imagined!!! Our friends are also going on this cruise. Their DS will also be 8 and DD will be in 6th grade I believe.

Thats awesome! My parents are coming from the UK to cruise with us too! Would be great to get the lil ones together before we cruise, so they have a familiar face! Have they done kids clubs before? DS had the BEST time in the clubs this year, we had to drag him out, but DD wasn't into it so much - she would do the organized activity, then want to leave - I'm fine with that - but I KNOW she would love it if she gave it a chance! She's normally a social butterfly, so I'm not sure what her deal was!

Still cannot believe how close you are!

Well, as of yesterday we will be joining you! It will be me, DH and DS who will turn 10 during the cruise.
We went on the Magic March 2010 and are very excited to be able to cruise again! We live in Washington so it will be much easier to get to California than all the way to Floriday.

Yay - welcome! It seems so far away, I'm hoping it comes around quickly!!! How was the Magic? We did this Wonder cruise in March & had a blast!

The Magic was awesome, we had such a great time. It's just hard to go all the way across the county. Looking forward to Mexico. My son thinks he needs to learn Spanish and has already asked for a Spanish dictionary. It will be good reading for him at least.

That's very cute although I'm sure I didn't use a word of Spanish on the last trip!!
How long is your flight to LAX? Did you book the hotel for the night before? I've heard most people use the Doubletree, they have a shuttle to the port. I'm pretty lucky that I just have to hop in the car. Are you doing a Disneyland trip before or after?

Thats exciting that he celebrates his birthday on the cruise - you'll have to remind me of that nearer the time, I'll think of something special for him

It's only about a 2 hour flight. I think we'll actually fly into long beach - i like how small that airport is. I was looking at the Doubletree and I think that is probably what we will do. How far from port are you?

We are about an hour door to door from home to the terminal building, maybe a little less on a Sunday. I feel very lucky that we don't have to fly, that's why we don't mind doing the same itinerary again - esp with little kids. When they are older we will do some other cruises for sure. I would love to do Alaska.....

I love this!! So cute. I wish my kids had interest like that. Then again, they don't know we are going and we won't tell them until maybe Christmas or maybe when we leave!!I will say that it is great that we don't have to buy airline tickets, but I sure do crave different ports then Mexico. Either way, we will still do Mexico for the cruise ship experience. In February, we didn't get off in one of the ports and the kids had the whole pool to play around in. I think there were probably 10 other kids in it Compared to the other days when it is like packing sardines in there.

Well you could plan on Hawaii - my kids have been begging me for the hawaii cruise since it was released!! My response - you pay, you go I agree with staying on the ship when at port - we did that & it was AWESOME! So super quiet!

We will be sailing on 3/18 to MR on Wonder...our 2nd cruise on DCL and the whole family is couting down the days!
