I had to get a new microwave when my other one got senile......I mean NUTS.....would go off and do a defrost when I pushed cook.....this one is adorable and so cool.......I still havent figured out all the ins and outs of it but SOMEDAY I will learn....our first one was over 15 years old......a Panasonic that talked......it would say......High- medium- medium high and last but not least another HIGH.....gotta love one that is so friendly in the morning..
Well Christian or not .....that little stinker needs to know that all meetings dont lead to cookies......give her a tomato juice next week.....
that post from the Meat Stuffing was from last year.....someone found it I guess.......I will post my recipe for you Marita...

I copied and pasted my whole post from the other one.......I know.....Marie is LAZY,,,,

this is to funny......I am also French Canadian......brought up in Maine but my dad and his ancestors were from Canada. My memere always made meat stuffing and it was different.....but my grandmother on my moms side made the traditional bread stuffing. I remember the first year I made meat stuffing with a venison neck roast and had bread stuffing in the turkey also.....the meat stuffing didnt go over to good with the traditional English family. I put the big pot of meat stuffing on the back porch and let the grease go to the top of the pot. Take that off and put the meat stuffing into a pie shell and top it too....and we had meat pie.....I love that. We still have that every Holiday.

My memeres recipe is:

5 lbs ground lean pork
3 1/2 lbs hamburg lean
4 medium to large onions
7-8 medium potatoes cooked
2 1/2 cups of saltines
salt, pepper, sage, celery salt---the meat mixture and onions with a little water cooked over low heat probably 4 or so hours. when the cooked potatoes are done ..drain and let them get cold mashed them really good but no milk in them....stir and cook again over low heat...put this in pie shells or into your bird ...for meat pies 425 degrees for fifteen minutes and then 350 degrees for another 25 minutes or until crust is brown.......delicious

Pumba, Marita and Cel, I'm so glad my Brownie meeting escapades provided you with a few giggles. Pumba, I'd like to give that little wench Miranda something.....but it isn't tomato juice.

Also, my dad's whole family now makes my memere's meat stuffing. She's still alive, but at 91 she doesn't have the strength to stir the ingredients in her big ol' mixing bowl, so we all make it and she takes turns going to holiday dinners at different houses in the family. She says she likes my house best because my DH and I make a giant bowl of our special cranberry relish for her. And I always send her home with a batch of my butterscotch fudge, which she hordes. What a character!

The kids and I were out of the house from 9am until 6pm today. Running around from CCD to the mall and the bookstore to my niece's b-day party at a kids' activity/play place. All day long, I had visions of my pajamas dancing in my head. I'm so happy to be home relaxing now and catching up on my DVR'd shows. Tomorrow, I start my Thanksgiving prep work. Can't believe the holiday season is here! :cloud9:

I washed all my dishes by hand today. :faint:

My dishwasher isn't cutting it lately and all my new pampered chef toys deserve better!
I still used my dishwasher racks to dry the dishes though.

I've got the stuff out to make cookies.
Possibly soon.

breadman came over to hang out.

I'll probably go to his house tomorrow to start bringing my christmas stuff here.

cookies are in the oven. kitchen is clean again. :cool1:

I improvised my snickerdoodle recipe.
I didn't have baking soda, baking powder or corn syrup.
:confused3

I put them in for 14 minutes on the stone bar pan.

THey're cooling now.
fingers crossed!

Good luck with the cookies, Cel!

Pumba,
thanks for posting the recipe.

I totally crashed today at 5:30 and woke up at 9pm

Then poked around the Cont. files for a while, and am now procrasting getting work done in the kitchen. I DID manage to season my new stove top as instructed AFTER DH already cooked on it TWICE!! But I think I saved it.

I need to finish cleaning the inside of my old (and still working and in service) microwave, that I sprayed with cleaner sometime this afternoon ...
and clear out the dishwasher that has all of my potcovers in it, my coffee pot, the microwave turntable, and whatever else I can get accomplished tonight.

DD turned 25 today. Where did the time go??????

I too need to know where the time goes. Our son will be 40 on Friday. My Turkey day baby is all grown up....he is a great son and I am wicked proud of him ..omg if he is 40 then I am definitely OLD.....hahaha.

Cel, I need to know what those snickerdoodles taste like minus the other ingredients..

AND I was thinking (yes I do that once in a while)..if the kid is soooo miserable being at that meeting then I would definitely discuss this with the MUDDER and tell her that your daughter does not like it here and doesnt want to belong....just for the goodies.....
BUT just maybe this kid who is an obvious brat, just maybe she will make a turn around if she likes some of the activities that goes with a troop.....just thinking of course

:confused3The cookies seem fine to me.
They are a little doughy, but I think they could've just been cooked more.

I think I used self rising flour - so the baking powder and baking soda weren't neccessary.
they rose just like snickerdoodles do.
I deem my modification good!

What could a small amount of corn syrup do anyway? :confused3

pumba - do you add corn syrup to yours?

The stone worked great for the cookies. and I love my mini serving spatula too - it's just the right size to get under them without breaking them.
(hint hint, marita)
ha.

I carried a heavy hamper out of the bedroom this afternoon.
I said to DH "I should not be carrying anything heavy" (due to eye surgery)
So what does he do? He said, "So pull it!"

Cel, spatula duely noted.

cel.....you are so right....that mini spatular....I use that when I am making brownies in my 8x8 pan and its not much room to get them out.....but the big one for pizza and my big bisquits is the best too......I LOVE my stuff

and Marita.......I cant remember how long it was for us not to lift heavy stuff or pushing stuff too......same type of pushing with our heads.......

I'm with you, Pumba! We leaders decided we'll give Miranda one more shot at December's meeting, and if she doesn't at least TRY to participate and be at least slightly positive, we'll tell the mom that she's disrupting the troop. There's one little girl, Kiki, who was in tears at the end of Friday's meeting because Miranda said Kiki is ugly, stupid and not creative. Who says things like that???????

In other news (?), I went shopping for the majority of my holiday cooking ingredients today, and then started some prep work. The chestnuts are now roasted, people. Therefore, I hereby decree that the holidays have officially begun!

Lynt, did you roast the chestnuts on an open fire?

LittleL, welcome back! Did you miss mt Stalking post?

House is 90% decluttered, w00t! Some more cleaning to do later this week, but I only work 2 days this week :thumbsup2

Hubby told DN I would bring green bean casserole without asking me. Not my specialty (not that I have one), but I only make the kind from the can. I really want to try a new recipe for "Awesome Broccoli-Cheese Casserole", but could not get a hold of anyone to ask first if I can substitute. Not even an anwsering machine :confused3 So I still don't know what I am making to bring (except for deviled eggs).

Whoever invented laundry? Or at least laundry without a maid.
I have 2 baskets full to fold.., ughhhh

Lynt, did you roast the chestnuts on an open fire?

Sadly, no. Our fireplace is gas, not wood, since I am afraid of fire. (Don't judge!) I like being able to turn the fire off and on without playing with matches and putting my limbs in harm's way. Do you think Martha Stewart will look down her nose at me now? Oh, for shame.

I think Martha will forgive you, with a reluctant nod to modern times.
At least you did not do them in the oven. Oh, what horror that would be!!!

Oh, almost forgot! At Mass this morning, there were 3 late-comers. 2 guys and girl, all about Peej's age. Not members of our parish. Bad enough that they were late (and loud and disruptive as they came in and settled down), but one guy was wearing a Michael Vick football jersey. As if that isn't inappropriate enough, that same guy was chewing gum and drinking coffee from a travel mug! In the pew!

And so ends Bizarro Weekend for the Lalijack family.

Sweet dreams, y'all!

Gooooood Morning!

Holly Homemaker here is baking yet another cake (it like I am in carb purgatory I tell ya!).

The preschool Thanksgiving FEAST is today and they let the small children choose their own offerings to bring to share. I have no idea of the total menu, but my darling child picked out a double layer double chocolate cake.

Not traditional, but in good taste. My house smells wonderful.

After accepting that Ninjas were not at the first Thanksgiving, he was very confused as to who he should be

a. He didn't want to be an Indian because they show their bellybuttons. (I tried to explain that the Indians always dressed appropriately for the weather but he was still concerned) And because at this point in history the Indians did not have guns. If you can't pack heat, why go to school???

b. He wanted to be a cowboy because they have cool hats, boots and guns. Alas, we had to inform him that the cowboys were not at the first Thanksgiving either.

c. He decided to be a Pilgrim, after being asssured that there were boy pilgrims not just girl pilgrims AND being told that the Pilgrim did indeed have guns.

So he is dressing up as a Pilgrim and bringing chocolate cake. Going to work tonight will be anti-climatic after my exciting morning.

In other news- Where is that NURSE??? I need some good baby name ideas. Only 10 weeks to go and the only suggestions are Princess Leia, Crystal Rainbow, and Charlotte. I am not in love with any of the above.

. After her presentation, the girls were working on a craft and that mom came up to me and asked if I'd be interested in hosting an....uh, adult toy party at my house.

So when's the party? And where is my invite?

I'm around. And a square. And a perpendicular triangle.

I think you should go with Crystal Rainbow. Makes you sound all earthy. Be sure not to bathe, shave, or use deodorant when you go in to deliver. The nurses LOVE that carp.

Might I offer you something with an exotic flair? Renee is a beautiful name. Especially if you roll the "R" as the French do. Plus, Johnny Depp lives in France, so it can't be all bad. Can it?pirate:

one year many moons ago.......we decided to try this roasted chestnuts in our gas oven........well no one told us we had to pierce them first .........oh the mess we had to clean up.......oy oy oy.......

I have my list of what to make Wednesday night......all the pies and some of my son in laws vegetarian dishes......I make a gravy for him that is almost (not quite though) good...will also do a banana bread on Wednesday night.....
