Congrats to all the new Mommies! Keep the pics coming!

Hey guys, I know it is super early but I had a positive home pregnancy test last night. Of course I took two more just to make sure. So I get to join you all! This is our second baby. We have a little girl who will be 1 in October. Based on the online calculators, my due date will be somewhere around June 3rd.

Does anyone mind if I start a new list? There was a list for my first pregnancy and I loved being able to see the list of pregnancies and all of the names and stuff. So if you guys send me your info, I would be glad to start one and take care of it!

Congrats & welcome! A new list would be great. I'm due Oct 22, boy.

Congratulations!! And I think a new list would be great too. I'm due 11/16 and it's a girl. But my RCS will be scheduled for 11/12 if I make it that long.

Things are going good and the Dr feels the jaundice is under control. We can officially stop supplementing and focus on relearning breastfeeding. It's been challenging at times. Yesterday we were able to breastfeed all but twice. We fed once 3 oz pumped breast milk and the other time 2 oz formula. The only challenging part is he doesn't want to feed that frequent. He's happy to wait 3-4 hours between meals. He's been sleeping 5 hours the past 2 nights. The Dr doesn't seem concerned as his weight continues to be good. Started off at 10 lbs 2 oz and was 9 lbs 8 oz at discharge on the 19th. Yesterday he was 9 lbs 8 oz. Other than a few things, all is going great. I'm still pretty sore, but feeling a bit better each day.

He is a chunky little thing - so cute!

Both of my DDs slept a lot in the beginning, especially at night. G had jaundice so they asked me to start waking every 3 hours so she could eat. The day-sleeping doesn't last forever (around 3 weeks they "wake up"), but the stretches at night get longer. The other day G made it 7.5 hours. I was shocked when I looked at the clock! Right now she is consistently going 5-6 at a time which is great. That's waking up just once in the night and again around 6am.

GL with the breastfeeding!

Can I just say that I'm crazy insane flaming jealous right now? DS is 6 weeks old and never sleeps more than 2 hours at a time, day or night. And that's when he's being held or in a sling. If he's in his crib/pack n play/swing, he gets 45 minutes, tops. I was a zombie for the first 2 weeks until we started co-sleeping.

Girl, I've been there!

Are you swaddling? Dark, quiet room (DD3 had to have that)? In my experience (doesn't say much), the more I held said baby, the worse it was. See, G will fight sleep like the dickens. Some days, we go from holding to leaving her alone to rocking to pacifiers to "could she be hungry?". This process takes ages and she will doze for 20-min bits in between. Eventually she gives out and when she goes down, she goes hard. Thank God.

I have to recommend The Baby Whisperer. She talks about the different cries you will hear from a baby. They aren't all "feed me". Some are, "get out of my face, b*&#$". :lmao:

I will post some of her stuff here if anyone wants me to. Eitehr way, go right now to the library and get a copy. It's my baby bible.

Congrats, IHeartTink! Is "The List" just a list of due dates and such? I'm due on Feb 5, 2011 and going to be surprised at the birth. It's my first.

I will have to check this book out for my husband. He is obsessed with child-rearing books right now. He started off reading books about getting in to good colleges, but I reminded him that the baby will have to learn how to walk and use the bathroom before we need to worry about college. He's since bought all of Super Nanny's books because we liked watching her show even before we were expecting. He's reading one now called Superbaby about how to make the most of your child's first three years. I keep asking him if wants to quit his job and homeschool since he will be an expert by the time preschool and elementary school roll around for us :rotfl:

Oh, I love the Supernanny! I use her ideas with DD3 and they work so well. We have a naughty mat and everything. We have to utilize the NM about once a month - when she will absolutely not listen to us. I can't imagine a 3yo not listening. :lmao: But she cries and whimpers having to be put on it. Hurts her feelings so badly. And when we ask for an apology, she gives us one with a hug and a kiss. It's so sweet. :lovestruc

But it sounds like you have a good husband there. :thumbsup2

Another good book is The Happiest Baby on the Block, although you can find the gist of it online. Just google "the five S's". They work great!

Alright, it's been downloaded to my Kindle. :goodvibes I'm a bit skeptical because I think I'm turning into a hardcore attachment parenting-er, but I'm willing to give anything a chance right now. Having a baby that will only sleep in a sling or nestled right up on top of me is being to grate, I'll admit.

Thanks for the recommendation!

Edited to add: DS has fought swaddling from the day he was born (he could get out of the crazy tight L&D nurse swaddles within minutes, when he was only a few hours old) and absolutely will not take a pacifier. He also seems to be a very light sleeper... he also seems to sleep a lot less than he "should". The nurses were all commenting about how "alert" he was, even at the hospital. It means we don't have a lot to work with, from the start. :P

We are home from the hospital finally. Daniel Edward Lindsay Johnson was born 9/16/10 at 8:07am via repeat c-section. He was 10 lbs 2 oz and 19.5 inches long. We had some jaundice issues, but were finally released to come home today. I'll post some pictures once I get them off my camera.

Congrats!!!

Hi ladies! William Christopher has arrived! He was born on September 15, 2010 at 9:48 a.m., weighing in at 7 lbs 13 oz and 19 1/2 inches long. His birth was via RCS and the c-section was textbook!

Congrats!!

I'm due 5/9/2011.

Hi, ladies! I am semi-new and haven't posted too much b/c I haven't had much to post about. I am 7w5d pregnant and have my first doc appt on Wednesday! I tried to go sooner but they wouldn't let me. I am changing doctors b/c my current OB/GYN is located in another county and doesn't deliver at the hospitals closest to me. She was an ok doctor, especially for once a year, but not for as many times and I need to go for being pregnant. Anyway, I did some research and found 2 places. I picked the one I am going to, knowing I have the other in my back pocket if needed. Anyway, they have me scheduled for an ultrasound at 12, a family history at 1:30, and an exam at 3. I am very excited to get the official word! Hubby will be attending the appt with me.

On another note, I have been reading about foods and have read that you need to heat up any deli style meat before eating it. I have never heard this before however this is my first pregnancy. So have you ladies heard that from your doctors? Do you just not eat it or what do you do? Do you have to heat it right before you eat it or can you heat it up then make your sandwich the night before and eat it the next day? Thanks for any info you may have.

My symptoms include being exhausted - more so than I have ever been in my life, sore and growing breasts - I was a 34D before becoming pregnant, and recently, aversion to some meats. My DH has been cooking dinner and Monday he cooked grilled chicken and broccoli with cheese. I really couldn't eat any of it. It was fish the next night....yuck. I didn't even have him cook the pork chops Wednesday. Just no interest. Plus it just all tastes off to me. Anyway, I have been supplementing with peanut butter.

Anyway, thanks for letting me join in on the discussion. We haven't announced our pregnancy yet, so I can't say a lot to many people.

Love seeing all of the pictures of the new babies!! :) :)

IHeartTink04, Congrats on your BFP! Thanks for offering to do a list. :goodvibes I'm due February 2, 2010. Should hopefully find out if it's a boy or girl on Tuesday!! :cool1:

Looks like we posted at the same time. Congrats on your BFP. :) With my 1st pregnancy 7 years ago, my Dr never mentioned anything about not eating deli meat. However, this time around she did mention that it needs to be heated up so I've been doing that. I zap it in the microwave right before I eat it at work when I bring a sandwich. I just avoid it when I'm out unless I can get it heated. Not sure if you could heat it the day before or not.

Okay guys bear with me! I don't remember exactly how it looked so I did my best.

Just let me know if you want to be added or if you think that anything should be changed!

With the lunchmeat, it just has to be heated well once. The doctor said I could "treat" an entire package at home, then use it for my sandwiches whenever. It has to be heated to steaming. I pretty much refrained. It was easier than worrying about it. I didn't really care for ground beef, either. I hated Mexican food, too, which is usually my favorite. I never had any morning sickness, but I definitely had some food aversions!

Congrats & welcome! With my 1st pregnancy which was 7 yrs ago, I had never heard about the deli meat thing and ate sandwiches just about everyday for lunch. I'm a salad, sandwich, or soup eater at work for lunch. I heard about it this time around and asked my doctor and he said you could eat lunchmeat and didn't mention anything about heating it. He said the chances of developing listeria (spelling?) is extremely rare. So, I still eat deli meat and most of the time it is not heated. In fact, I just came from a party and had 1/2 a Jimmy Johns sandwich which was not heated.
